Transforming Anger into Joy: Why Forgiveness Feels Lighter Than You Think with Anumeha Gupta
In this episode, Laurin welcomes Anumeha to explore the transformative power of Theta Healing. Together, they discuss how subconscious beliefs, often carried over from past lives or deep-rooted childhood experiences, shape our realities. Laurin: I want to welcome you today to the Curiously Wise podcast,
Anumeha. I’m really excited to have you here.
Anumeha: Thank you. I’m so glad to be here.
Laurin: I would love for you to tell us a little bit about your work and the journey that brought you to it.
Anumeha: Sure. So, I’m Anumeha. I’m a Theta Healing instructor, and I work with women to help them release their anger in a holistic way. I teach them how to transform anger into a force for good in their lives.
My journey began when I started experiencing high levels of anger, which would show up in my personal relationships, especially with my children. After exploring different healing modalities, I came across Theta Healing, and it completely changed my life. It allowed me to dig deep into my subconscious and work on the root causes of my anger. As I released my own anger, I realized how it transformed my voice, my relationships, and even my physical health.
Laurin: That’s powerful. Theta Healing isn’t something everyone is familiar with. Can you explain what it is?
Anumeha: Of course. Theta Healing is a meditative technique that allows us to connect with the subconscious mind and reprogram beliefs. The idea is that our subconscious mind controls more than 90% of our thoughts and behaviors, often without us even knowing. Using muscle testing, we can identify limiting beliefs that may be holding someone back, whether they’re from this lifetime or past lives.
For example, I had a client who was struggling to find a soulmate. She kept attracting what she called “crappy men.” When we dug into her subconscious beliefs, we discovered she had a belief that "all men are crappy," which came from a past life. We also found a vow she had taken to never get married. Once we removed that vow and changed her beliefs, she found a partner who makes her very happy.
Laurin: That’s fascinating. It’s amazing how our subconscious beliefs can impact our lives without us even realizing it.
Anumeha: Yes, most of our lives are created by our subconscious beliefs. And we not only carry our own beliefs, but also the beliefs of those who came before us—our ancestors. When we release these old patterns, we start creating a life we truly desire.
Laurin: I love that. It’s so important to understand that we have the power to change these deep-seated beliefs. Is there anything else you’d like to share that we haven’t touched on yet?
Anumeha: Yes, I’d like to share how working on my anger benefited me personally. One of the biggest changes was that my voice changed. Before I started this work, my voice would trigger arguments and negotiations with my children. It was like my anger was embedded in my voice, and it was inviting conflict.
As I worked on myself, my nervous system became more relaxed, and my voice changed. Now, there’s a feeling of calm in my house. Even when other people come over, they feel a retreat-like atmosphere. It takes a lot to trigger me now, and as a result, my kids are more open with me. They speak their truth, even if they know it’s not what I want to hear, and they’re not scared.
I also used to carry so much guilt and regret from my anger. When you react in anger, you have no control over your words, and then you walk around with a heavy cloud of regret. But as I released my anger and practiced forgiveness, I felt so much lighter—literally and figuratively. I even lost weight because my body was holding onto that anger.
Laurin: I’ve had a similar experience. After I was able to forgive my mom, I dropped about 20 pounds, and it wasn’t hard to do. I hadn’t put that together before, but when you said it, it made sense. The release of anger and forgiveness literally lightens your body and your energy.
Anumeha: Yes, it’s fascinating how much lighter we feel when we let go of anger. It’s not just an emotional release, but a physical one as well. As we release anger and practice forgiveness, we attract higher vibrational people and more joy into our lives. Everything starts to flow better when we feel better.
Laurin: I agree. And it’s worth doing the work, even if your children are grown. I used to be an emotional mess during their younger years, but as I worked on myself, my relationship with them improved. Now, they trust me in a way they didn’t before, and they want to spend time with me, even as adults. It’s so rewarding.
Anumeha: Yes, that’s beautiful. It’s always worth doing the work because everyone around you can feel the shift. And it’s not just about fixing things for your children. It’s about working on yourself, and in doing so, you create a space of love and safety for them.
Laurin: Absolutely. It can be hard with our own kids, though, especially when we want to fix things for them. But as moms, we have to step back and let them come to us when they’re ready.
Anumeha: Yes, exactly. And that’s the key—this work is not for everyone who needs it. It’s for those who are ready for it. I used to wonder why certain women wouldn’t work with me, even though I knew I could help them. Now, I understand it’s all about divine timing. Some people aren’t ready yet, and that’s okay.
Laurin: Yes, I call that “Divine Right Timing.” It requires stepping back and recognizing that it may not be the right time for someone, and that’s okay. I’ve had to learn that, too.
Anumeha: Yes, exactly. And it’s important to recognize that, as healers, we may not always be the right person for someone, and that’s okay, too. It’s all about timing and being ready for the work.
Laurin: It’s such a good reminder, especially when we feel like we have so much to offer. But we can’t force the work on someone who isn’t ready.
Anumeha: Yes, and that’s the beauty of this work. When someone is ready, the transformation can be profound. But it has to happen in its own time.
Laurin: I’ve really enjoyed this conversation, Anumeha. I’ve learned so much from you, and I’m sure our listeners will, too. Let them know where they can find you and how they can work with you.
Anumeha: Thank you, Laurin. It’s been a pleasure talking with you. If people want to find me, they can visit my website, iuwise.com (that’s spelled A-Y-U-W-I-S-E). On my website, I offer a 15-minute clarity call, which is complimentary. It’s a no-pressure call to understand where you are in your journey and whether we’re a good fit to work together.
I also offer a free handout with three things you can do right away to work with your anger, and every month I host a free webinar called "Women, It’s Time to Release Anger," where I share four unknown triggers of anger. The webinar has been very popular, and it’s a great introduction to this work.
Laurin: That’s wonderful. Thank you for sharing that, Anumeha. And thank you to our listeners for being here. I hope you’ll join us again next week. In the meantime, stay curious.
