In this happiness hack, I am encouraging you to set up your resilience toolbox.

When times are tough, our brain tends to concentrate on the aspects that are difficult and challenging leading to going down a negative spiral.

What can help us during these challenging moments is to give ourselves a short mental break from our worries, by concentrating on aspects that bring us joy and happiness.

This is where the resilience toolbox comes in. This could be a physical box or simply a collection of digital items.

What could you put in your resilience toolbox?

Stories or pictures of your positive memories

List of your strengths and accomplishments you are particular proud

Items, songs or books that lift your mood

Contacts or stories of people who inspire you

A resilience checklist. A list which says “When get tough, I will…” then list 5 simple actions you can take to ensure you remain resilient

I feel calmer and more optimistic about the future because I know that despite challenges, uncertainty and failures, I have a resilience toolbox to rely on to help me face these.

Thank you for listening to the Happiness Reset Campaign, I hope this happiness hack is useful and impactful. Learn more about resilience, listen to episode 38: How to find happiness in challenging times.
