Transcripts

Speaker:

Hello, and welcome to the

leaders of impact podcast.

2

:

I'm Lee Griffith, a leadership

communication strategist,

3

:

executive coach, and your host.

4

:

I spent the past 20 years working

with leaders in large organizations.

5

:

And what I've learned along the way

is that no one really prepares you for

6

:

the transition from subject experts,

all around organizational advocate.

7

:

So, is it really any wonder that the

old tired stereotypes and corporate BS

8

:

continues to influence the way we lead?

9

:

But there is a new wave of leaders

who are doing things their own way.

10

:

And in this series, I'll be exploring

their stories of success and the

11

:

strategies that set them apart.

12

:

Paul: There are only two rules.

13

:

You have to be accountable and you

have to be prepared to give account.

14

:

Sheron: when I have felt that I have

given the best of myself as a leader

15

:

is when I have consciously questioned,

which organizations do I want to lead?

16

:

It can be challenging for a leader to be

in an organization that really doesn't

17

:

fit with their culture and values, because

you're constantly making compromises.

18

:

Hel: That's the point of being a leader.

19

:

They want to know the

way that you do things.

20

:

They want to know your opinion and

your choices and your decisions and

21

:

the real reasons for why you make them.

22

:

Kevin: There are some things that can

turn into wallpaper that you don't notice.

23

:

So the importance of surrounding

yourself with people that are new,

24

:

fresh perspective, that balance of

corporate memory and new ideas, I

25

:

think is really, really important.

26

:

And I didn't want to be in a position

in a year or two's time where I

27

:

was effectively taking value from

the organization, holding it back

28

:

because I was unable to change.

29

:

Lee: In each episode, I'll

be talking to CEOs and senior

30

:

leaders who dare to be different.

31

:

I'll be chatting with expert guests who

challenge what you've been taught in

32

:

your leadership development programs.

33

:

And I'll be sharing my own insights

and views that will help you to

34

:

become a more impactful leader.

35

:

So listen and subscribe to leaders with

impact available apple, Spotify, or

36

:

wherever you like to get your podcasts.

37

:

Episodes will be released every fortnight.
