Unknown:

Hey, everyone, I'm Kelly Mobic, a coach and a

Unknown:

leadership trainer. And I'm super passionate about helping

Unknown:

you find out who you are authentically as a leader, own

Unknown:

it and go out and make an impact in your life and the lives of

Unknown:

others. This world needs your leadership, your gifts, your

Unknown:

unique brilliance. And I believe that real leaders don't wait.

Unknown:

They create. I know firsthand that life is going to throw us

Unknown:

curveballs that we're going to doubt our greatness, our ideas

Unknown:

and our contributions. And my goal is that you believe in

Unknown:

yourself beyond reason. And I get to be a coach and a champion

Unknown:

for you each week, so that you feel inspired, motivated, and

Unknown:

most important in action towards your unique impact in this

Unknown:

world.

Unknown:

So let's jump in. Hey, there, everyone, this is Coach Kelly,

Unknown:

and welcome to episode 160. I feel a little milestone II there

Unknown:

hello, Episode 160. Of let's be honest, before we start

Unknown:

pretending, and we are continuing with one of my

Unknown:

favorite coaching tools, one of my favorite life tools, one of

Unknown:

my favorite tools as a leader, intention. And we are really

Unknown:

dissecting intention in many, many ways. We started out with

Unknown:

looking at intention utilizing the 3ds Because what is

Unknown:

intention, intention is thinking and doing, thinking and doing

Unknown:

and creating the magic and the results that you want. And we

Unknown:

utilize the three Ds to help do that. And the three Ds are

Unknown:

decide make a decision, declare, declare it out loud, and do

Unknown:

that's the action piece. Then in the next week, we looked at,

Unknown:

okay, how do I even know what my intention is? How do I get clear

Unknown:

on what my intention is, and we talked about the four components

Unknown:

that make up getting clear on your intention. And those four

Unknown:

things are really understanding what it is you want. That could

Unknown:

be your vision, your outcome, the goals that you have for

Unknown:

yourself, really knowing what you want and being super

Unknown:

specific about it. Remember what I said, vague creates vague, so

Unknown:

specific, create specific, so you want to be very specific.

Unknown:

And then the second component, understanding your purpose for

Unknown:

it purpose answers the question why, but dive a little bit

Unknown:

deeper in that like, why really? Why now? And why is that

Unknown:

important? Okay, dive a little bit deeper into that. The third

Unknown:

component energy, what's the energy required to have this

Unknown:

happen, and energy goes hand in hand with focus, you might

Unknown:

remember I said, energy flows where your attention goes. So

Unknown:

you want to understand where's my attention? What is it that I

Unknown:

want to focus on? There's an episode on that. And I will link

Unknown:

these things into the show notes because they're great

Unknown:

refreshers, so that you can go back and listen at a deeper

Unknown:

level. But like, where what's required of my energy? What is

Unknown:

the energy I'm bringing to this? And the final component is my

Unknown:

commitment. What is my commitment? Am I going to do

Unknown:

whatever it takes within legal not not illegal to actually get

Unknown:

this done? Really, and truly, and remember, commitment, shows

Unknown:

up in action, and shows up over time. So those four components

Unknown:

are split into two, what you want and why you want it is the

Unknown:

thinking components. And then your energy and your commitment

Unknown:

are the action components, right? And the clearer you are,

Unknown:

the easier is going to be to generate the result that you

Unknown:

want. Okay, and so today we're going to talk about results. And

Unknown:

this is where I'm gonna lean in to leveraging your lessons. That

Unknown:

was the episode that was the very last one in April, which

Unknown:

was episode 157. Leveraging your lessons because when we are

Unknown:

working with intention, it is really important to check your

Unknown:

results because results don't lie. And then ask yourself, did

Unknown:

this all line up? Sometimes it will, and you'll almost make it

Unknown:

look easy. I gotta tell you losing the 12 pounds did not

Unknown:

feel hard. It did not feel hard. It did not feel desperate. It

Unknown:

actually felt easy, and I was able to surprise myself with

Unknown:

ease. Okay, you might remember that I was saying, holy cow.

Unknown:

There was a time where losing seven pounds would have been not

Unknown:

a problem, snap, snap, let's go. That is not this time in my life

Unknown:

anymore. And that's okay, because it can still happen. it

Unknown:

right and really understanding it can still happen.

Unknown:

circumstance circumstance. Okay. And so the reason that that

Unknown:

didn't feel hard or desperate is because I was so rock solid

Unknown:

clear on my intention. And I used to the three Ds true story,

Unknown:

true story. And then not only that, when I hit the result

Unknown:

called 12 pounds, and you might remember, I had to lose seven, I

Unknown:

declared to lose 15, I lost 12. So some of you might be like,

Unknown:

Coach Kelly, you didn't hit it, you didn't get it? True. I

Unknown:

didn't hit the 15. That's absolutely true. I hit the 12.

Unknown:

And I'm here for it. I'm here for it. Because like I shared

Unknown:

before, had I not declared 15, I wouldn't have lost 12. Right. I

Unknown:

was not willing to declare seven and not hit it. Now part of that

Unknown:

comes from years and years and years of reviewing my result, I

Unknown:

understand the lesson, I understand the assignment. And I

Unknown:

know me, and the only way that I can know me, is by going back

Unknown:

and doing what I'm going to share with you today. And that

Unknown:

means going through every single one of these things I'm sharing

Unknown:

with you in May and part of June is this is this is a habit, this

Unknown:

is no longer simply a discipline that I have. It is a habit. I do

Unknown:

this without even thinking about it. I do this intentionally. And

Unknown:

because it's a habit I do this without thinking about it. It's

Unknown:

just part of the daily routine, like brushing my teeth. And this

Unknown:

is what helps me generate way more of the results that I want.

Unknown:

Hey, so going back to leveraging our lessons, this is how you do

Unknown:

it. Is you check your results. So for instance, I lost 12

Unknown:

pounds. Awesome. I was thrilled. I was thrilled. There was no way

Unknown:

I was going to rain on my own parade. Not going to happen. Not

Unknown:

on my watch. Not today. No, ma'am. Okay. I was thrilled

Unknown:

because I hit exceeded the half two, I exceeded the half two I

Unknown:

broke through the half tail. Now, could I have lost the 15

Unknown:

pounds? Probably. Probably I could have lost the 15 pounds.

Unknown:

And based on results, my intention was 12. My intention

Unknown:

was 12. Now I have to tell you, it's that's kind of a twofer.

Unknown:

It's a result that I absolutely wanted. And it was a result that

Unknown:

I didn't want, right? Because in the beginning I said 15 Now

Unknown:

you're hearing me share with you I am thrilled with it. Because I

Unknown:

know myself I am a go bigger go home. I know that by by

Unknown:

stretching outside of the comfort zone, which going from

Unknown:

seven to 15, which is doubling in a time period where I wasn't

Unknown:

sure I could write and I use the example I'm 56 years old, it

Unknown:

wait doesn't just melt off of me anymore. I had to believe beyond

Unknown:

reason or doubt that this was going to happen. The only way

Unknown:

that I know this works for me is again through leveraging my

Unknown:

lessons. Okay. So one of the things that I remember a mentor

Unknown:

sharing with me is if you want to get really good, if not

Unknown:

great, if not masterful, at your intention, can you imagine

Unknown:

masterful. It's like you're just like out there, Bippity,

Unknown:

boppity, boo, and alike. There we go. The pumpkin is now a

Unknown:

carriage right? But she was serious, she was serious. You've

Unknown:

got to look at the results you're not creating, you've got

Unknown:

to look at them. You've got to look at the results you're

Unknown:

creating, and look at the results you're not creating. And

Unknown:

if you want to get really good and even masterful in intention,

Unknown:

you've got to look at where it didn't happen, so that you can

Unknown:

learn from it. Okay, hence why I say lessons are platinum,

Unknown:

because you can leverage them you can use them on and on. And

Unknown:

that really, really stuck with me. Now, I gotta tell you,

Unknown:

that's not always fun to look at in an accountable way when we're

Unknown:

not creating the results we want. It's not fun. Okay. Well,

Unknown:

boohoo, okay, if you are willing to stay in that growth mindset

Unknown:

and you're willing to generate more of the results you want. It

Unknown:

would be whom you to do it anyway, whether it's fun or not.

Unknown:

And how do you do that? How do you make it fun? You become the

Unknown:

scientist and leave the judge at home. Because if life is a great

Unknown:

lesson And then it is also an experiment. Right? If it's a

Unknown:

great lesson, which I believe it is, it's also an experiment. And

Unknown:

we get to look and see what works and what's not working,

Unknown:

because then we can shift. Okay? Things that are working, keep

Unknown:

utilizing them with a caveat until they stop working. Okay?

Unknown:

Have you ever noticed that, that you could have a practice that's

Unknown:

working, working, working, and it's so great and a practice is

Unknown:

something that you're simply doing, like brushing your teeth,

Unknown:

okay? Until suddenly, it's not working anymore. You're like,

Unknown:

wait a minute, how is it this was something I learned, right?

Unknown:

Going through life, like chugging along, and then I

Unknown:

remember hitting that certain age, perimenopause and menopause

Unknown:

that age with a woman. And suddenly some of the same things

Unknown:

that I was doing, were no longer working. I was gaining weight.

Unknown:

And like nobody's business, I'm like, wait a second, what is

Unknown:

happening here, okay? Same practice, not working, have got

Unknown:

to create something different. That's just an example. So for

Unknown:

you women out there that are going through that you're gonna

Unknown:

know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm for everyone else,

Unknown:

think about something that you do that after a while, is no

Unknown:

longer working in the same way. That's your clue. It's time to

Unknown:

create a new practice. Okay, it's time to create a new

Unknown:

practice. So that's why I say, leverage what's working until it

Unknown:

doesn't work any more and be willing to shift and start

Unknown:

something new practice something new, okay. That's how we learn.

Unknown:

That's how we grow. Okay, that's how we grow. That's how we

Unknown:

learn. Same thing. And then when you're looking at results, and

Unknown:

you're seeing like, Okay, what didn't work, what didn't work

Unknown:

when I look at the 12 pounds, and I didn't hit the 15. And I

Unknown:

looked at what didn't work. And again, I was really consistent

Unknown:

in my practices, right, I was really consistent in my practice

Unknown:

is something that I think I could have done better. A

Unknown:

practice that could have supported me, even better, was

Unknown:

upping my fiber. I didn't even think about that. I didn't even

Unknown:

think about that until later. And I was like, you know, that

Unknown:

could have been supported. Okay, I was like, all over the protein

Unknown:

lowered, my carbs are eating the healthy carbs, the right amount

Unknown:

of high fat, high fat, the right amount of healthy fat, not high

Unknown:

fat, healthy fat. And, you know, like I was paying attention.

Unknown:

Well, there's a fourth component, and that's called

Unknown:

fiber and I wasn't even thinking about it. So that would be

Unknown:

something that as I'm continuing on this weight loss journey,

Unknown:

because it isn't over. And it doesn't stop just because we had

Unknown:

the surgery, there's another surgery coming up. But it

Unknown:

doesn't stop because of that doesn't start or stop. Because

Unknown:

of that. It's been because of the bigger health goals I have

Unknown:

in being vibrant and staying in integrity. Now, I got to see

Unknown:

that something was probably not working. And there was something

Unknown:

missing, I got to discover that. So now I can add that in. Right

Unknown:

now I can add that in and against keep the process going

Unknown:

and looking and seeing what's working and not working. And

Unknown:

that's the thing. And oftentimes, when you're looking

Unknown:

at results, again, easy to do when we're hitting it easy to

Unknown:

do, what the challenge is, is do you stop and actually do this.

Unknown:

So I'm gonna give you a formula that you can use whether you've

Unknown:

hit the result, or you didn't hit the result. Either way,

Unknown:

either way. My challenge to you is do it both times. When we hit

Unknown:

the result. We're like, Woohoo, let's go. And like we just keep

Unknown:

on going, we don't stop to really look and see, what did I

Unknown:

learn from this. And that is where everything happens. And

Unknown:

also, when we don't hit it, it can be hard to look at that it

Unknown:

can be hard to face it. So invite your scientists to come

Unknown:

on in and hold this as the great experiment. Because you didn't

Unknown:

fail. And you also didn't get the a plus, okay, well, you got

Unknown:

the a plus you're always getting the a plus. I got that from the

Unknown:

Art of Possibility. By the way, shout out Art of Possibility

Unknown:

Rosa and Ben Zander, such a great book when people ask me

Unknown:

what my favorite leadership book is, I'm always gonna say the art

Unknown:

of possibility and in the Art of Possibility, we are always

Unknown:

giving ourselves in a so let me use a different example. You

Unknown:

created a result pay. It is not when we don't hit it. It's not

Unknown:

like oh, the end of the world. What is that saying? We will

Unknown:

fail many more times than we succeed. So you succeed and you

Unknown:

fail. Okay? When I say you didn't, it just means don't take

Unknown:

on the emotion. Have it okay. Or feel the feel? Because that's

Unknown:

important. Don't stuff that. But don't let it take you out of the

Unknown:

game because there's always a new possibility. Yes, there. Now

Unknown:

we've landed. That's what I wanted to say. Seal the field.

Unknown:

So have the emotion feel the feel. But do not let it take you

Unknown:

out of the game because there's always a new possibility period

Unknown:

done exclamation mark, boom, there it is. Okay, so here is

Unknown:

your formula. First and foremost, you ask yourself, what

Unknown:

was the result I created? You've got to be in ownership for it,

Unknown:

you've got to be an acceptance that this is it. This is the

Unknown:

result that I created. Own it, accept it. Okay. Then you want

Unknown:

to ask yourself? How did it feel? So a lot of times we We

Unknown:

won't bother with this one, especially people that are like

Unknown:

feelings, man. Doesn't matter? Yes, it does. Okay, yes, it

Unknown:

does. We're human beings that feel right? How did it feel? You

Unknown:

want to write that down? Because feelings will dissipate. And you

Unknown:

have something that you can reference and leverage going

Unknown:

forward? Okay, how did it feel? Third of all, what did I notice

Unknown:

worked? What worked really well, here? write those things down?

Unknown:

And then forth? What didn't work? What didn't work, write

Unknown:

all those things down? Fun fact, sometimes when you're looking at

Unknown:

what didn't work, you will actually see in that some things

Unknown:

that you were like, Oh, it didn't work. But I did this

Unknown:

little shift and it created something that worked, you would

Unknown:

miss that you would miss it has that ever happen? where

Unknown:

something comes in a curveball comes in yet you create a

Unknown:

different shift, you take a different action, and then it's

Unknown:

working again, if you don't examine this, if you don't take

Unknown:

time to debrief and see you will miss these gems. They are

Unknown:

golden, they are golden. Okay. And then the fifth question, the

Unknown:

final question is this. How will I utilize this going forward?

Unknown:

How will I utilize this going forward? Now, with these

Unknown:

questions, what's the result I created? How did I feel about

Unknown:

it? What worked? What didn't work? How will I utilize this

Unknown:

going forward, I would suggest that sometimes you're going to

Unknown:

sit down one and done, you're going to have it all locked

Unknown:

down. Sometimes you might want to revisit it over and over and

Unknown:

over again. Because the ability to self reflect is powerful,

Unknown:

because self reflecting opens up space for more to get revealed

Unknown:

to you. It does you hear me say it every single week, it will

Unknown:

not always look the way you think it's supposed to, it will

Unknown:

never look the thing, the way you think it's supposed to,

Unknown:

quite frankly, more gets revealed. This is how more gets

Unknown:

revealed when you are being self reflective. That is a key

Unknown:

leadership tool. Que as you're taking the lead in your life,

Unknown:

you want to be self reflected. And that is the formula. When

Unknown:

you create a result, whether it's the one you wanted, or the

Unknown:

one you didn't want, or the one that didn't look like you

Unknown:

thought it was, but you're like I'm here for it. 12 pounds,

Unknown:

thank you very much. You want to take a look, you want to work

Unknown:

the formula to elicit the learning so that you continue to

Unknown:

grow. All right, that is what we have today. So remember, you

Unknown:

have a choice to lead your life or follow your circumstance.

Unknown:

Life is about knowing your passions, your purpose, your

Unknown:

values, being intentional, being self reflective, staying in that

Unknown:

growth mindset, and who emerges from taking the lead in their

Unknown:

lives are authentic and vulnerable and courageous and

Unknown:

very clearly creating much more of the results they want. It

Unknown:

won't always almost never will look the way we think it's

Unknown:

supposed to. And we get to trust that more gets revealed as we

Unknown:

move forward. So take those pauses, let go of worry, let go

Unknown:

of doubt, and live fully the best version of yourselves. You

Unknown:

guys next week, I have an amazing guest that's coming on.
