We are halfway through the year. What does that mean? Technically nothing. Nothing at all. It's arbitrary. The year happened to start January 1st. Used to start April 1st. Now it's January 1st, so we're halfway through an arbitrary period of time, and yet it is a good time to take stock. It's a good time to think about on January 1st.
Where did you say you'd be on December 31st? Are you halfway there? Are you a quarter of the way there? Are you heading there at all? Is the direction you set on January 1st for December 31st, still the direction you want to go? And if so, are you still following that path or have you gotten distracted?
Have you started looking elsewhere? Have you started turning this way and that maybe. That's where you need to turn. Maybe you need to change your goals to match your course, and maybe you need to change your course to match your goals. I can't say that, but you can. Now, halfway through the year is a great time to review the way you are going, the direction you're going.
Is it where you need to go? Or is it a random wander or is it following outdated programming, an outdated strategy that made sense six months ago, but doesn't make sense today? Take that moment. Take stock. Where are you going right now? Where do you want to be six months from now? On December 31st, where do you want to be 12 months from now, entering July of next year.
How about six years from now, or 12 years from now? Look to the future. Look to the horizon so you can see where you need to put your feet to take the next step.
