Speaker:

Welcome to 12-Minute Converse with Jesus Believers.

Speaker:

God chose first to have a conversation with us, his creation.

Speaker:

Our prayer is that this listening space brings growth and transforms your life forever.

Speaker:

Praise God for you, Esther.

Speaker:

It's a great pleasure to connect with you.

Speaker:

What part of the world are you in today?

Speaker:

I'm in Nigeria, specifically Bras Island, located in the southern part of Nigeria.

Speaker:

How long have you been in ministry?

Speaker:

Nine straight years at the moment.

Speaker:

How did you come to meet Jesus?

Speaker:

I'm privileged to be born into a Christian home and that is the adaptation stage of my life, trying to inculcate family value through birth.

Speaker:

At the age of 16, I gave my life to Jesus Christ, having gotten that adaptive alignment.

Speaker:

At the age of 20, I began to redirect myself, having consciousness of my birth, my foundation.

Speaker:

I began to know Jesus Christ experientially and I can acknowledge my encounter with Jesus.

Speaker:

I actually started at the age of 30, which is 2012.

Speaker:

That is my age of acknowledgement counterparts.

Speaker:

And when you say acknowledgement, you mean accepting Jesus as your personal saviour, yes?

Speaker:

Yes, knowing Jesus in person, not just as a believer, as Christian, but personal encounter.

Speaker:

How important do you believe that is for anyone that's listening to have that relationship with Jesus?

Speaker:

Yes, it's very essential because according to scripture, Jesus is the world and this is also the light.

Speaker:

And this light is the light that shines upon everyone that comes upon the surface of the earth.

Speaker:

So if with that light, you cannot get your way in life, just according to scripture, the world is a lamp unto my feet.

Speaker:

And if you have an encounter with Jesus, you will have light.

Speaker:

And with light, you will not experience wilderness experience.

Speaker:

Just before I go to my stage of encounter with Christ, I will have a series of wilderness experience, confusion, not knowing my direction in life.

Speaker:

Until I have an encounter with Jesus, that shines his light upon my life, I begin to pattern my destiny until I find my feet in life.

Speaker:

Have you ever witnessed a miracle?

Speaker:

Yes, miracles are real.

Speaker:

I have experienced it by privilege.

Speaker:

God has by my hand also performed miracles.

Speaker:

I have seen a barren woman conceived miraculously.

Speaker:

And we celebrated this testimony.

Speaker:

I have seen the sick hit with proven medical record and God changed it.

Speaker:

I have seen it.

Speaker:

I believe it and it's real.

Speaker:

Is there anything in your life that has the same level of happiness that was brought to you when you met Jesus?

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

My testimony of encounter is centered on direction and fulfillment because I was confused in life.

Speaker:

I suffered delay in life compared to the age of waiting, years of waiting, academic struggle and delay.

Speaker:

But when I encountered Christ, he terminated academic delay, frustration in career and marriage.

Speaker:

And all of this career and marital settlement came within that 30 years, 2012.

Speaker:

I began to enjoy speed of fulfillment in life and it has been a great joy to me that I will advocate and spread the gospel conveniently with great conviction.

Speaker:

What is the biggest challenge you encounter on the missionary field?

Speaker:

Once we are deployed to a place, it's time to go to a place we don't select.

Speaker:

Because once it's God, it's good.

Speaker:

If God sends you, he will back you.

Speaker:

So the challenges are, for instance, I grew up in a mountainous area where we are not exposed to water.

Speaker:

I've never traveled across water.

Speaker:

But as I speak to you now, I'm on an island where I have to travel across the sea, across the ocean, on speed boat, on the rig of all of these tools with my family.

Speaker:

It is a big challenge because it's a new experience.

Speaker:

But God gave us courage, strength, and it has been God's way.

Speaker:

How many children do you have?

Speaker:

I presently have two kids, a boy and a girl.

Speaker:

How old are they?

Speaker:

Eight and five years old.

Speaker:

Wow, that's young.

Speaker:

Is their life a lot different from yours when you were growing up?

Speaker:

Yes, yes.

Speaker:

I would say growing up, a lot of youthful exuberance, agro-pressure, trying to compete with friends.

Speaker:

And generally, I grew up in a mixed cultural and religious setting where you have predominantly Muslims.

Speaker:

So that religious interference did not give one that leverage to actually get this conviction until over time, begin to see the difference and begin to make necessary adjustments.

Speaker:

But I fall into some kind of an influence to friends, going to alcoholism, partying, clubbing, social life.

Speaker:

But over time, as I encountered Christ, I have the grace to begin to cut off from such lifestyle.

Speaker:

My life over time is quite different.

Speaker:

It's a complete departure from what I experienced growing up.

Speaker:

When I'm listening to you, Festus, I can hear the joy emanating from your voice.

Speaker:

You must have a very amazing wife that is walking alongside you on these adventures.

Speaker:

How did you meet your wife?

Speaker:

Yeah, I must admit it is divine because if one receives the call from ministry and you don't have a supporting spouse, you need to look back to God.

Speaker:

Are you sure this is the one?

Speaker:

And an amazing wife indeed.

Speaker:

Her name is blessing and she has been a blessing indeed through my life.

Speaker:

And I met her while God, in the process of restoration of academic delay, I met her in the campus.

Speaker:

I met her in campus in 2014.

Speaker:

I got married in 2017.

Speaker:

How many books have you written?

Speaker:

Presently, I've written so far 14 books.

Speaker:

Congratulations on that.

Speaker:

What is your tool of choice?

Speaker:

Are you writing pencil and paper, keyboard and computer?

Speaker:

Which do you prefer?

Speaker:

The computer.

Speaker:

So what is your most recent book that you've written?

Speaker:

Yeah, the most recent book is No Place Is Bad If God Sends You.

Speaker:

It is based on my experience on the mission field.

Speaker:

I think the book is trying to tell all missionaries not to be selective of where to go, but to rely on divine instruction.

Speaker:

The delay may not work.

Speaker:

If it's God, go.

Speaker:

God will back you.

Speaker:

It's so scary though, Festus.

Speaker:

I mean, yeah, there's evidence.

Speaker:

I can testify to that if there's time.

Speaker:

There's good evidence.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Five years from today, you're listening to this conversation.

Speaker:

You hear the evolution of Festus from being a child in school, to going through his ups and downs, to accepting Christ, to marrying his wife, to having children.

Speaker:

What's a message you'd leave for future you?

Speaker:

Yes, Romans 8, 28.

Speaker:

All things work together for good.

Speaker:

For they that love God and are called according to his purpose.

Speaker:

Remaining God's call for your life, everything will keep working for good.

Speaker:

Has he ever failed you on the mission field, in life?

Speaker:

Has Jesus ever failed you?

Speaker:

No, Jesus never fails.

Speaker:

He's a trusted guide.

Speaker:

He's really a trusted guide.

Speaker:

Man will fail, but Jesus don't fail.

Speaker:

He has never failed me.

Speaker:

If he say no, it meant good.

Speaker:

If he say yes, it's for good.

Speaker:

If he say wait, it's for good.

Speaker:

He has never failed me.

Speaker:

Festus, in closing, is there anything else you'd like to share?

Speaker:

I would like you people to hold on to John chapter 6, verse 63.

Speaker:

It says, the words that I speak to you, they are spirit and life.

Speaker:

If you want to have life, even here on earth and in the life to come, just keep going for the word of God.

Speaker:

I'm also available on LinkedIn and Amazon.

Speaker:

Just search for my name, you will find some of my publications.

Speaker:

God bless you.

Speaker:

God bless you as well, Festus.

Speaker:

Again, a pleasure, a treasure.

Speaker:

Thank you for being on What Is Inspired by Twelve Minute Converse.
