[00:00:17] to

[:

[00:00:22] Eric G: a lot to know but weve got you covered

[:

[00:00:37] Eric G: This is always cool. It's been a crazy one already. And it's, uh, it's already just Tuesday afternoon for us, for the Wednesday show. So pretty crazy.

[:

[00:00:54] Caroline B: I don't know something's

[:

[00:01:18] Eric G: So they took care of that under warranty. And of course, warranty was out what two months? So I walk in and I see the thing limping around in a circle because it's a little round robotic back and it's like a clown car where the wheels going.

[:

[00:01:59] Eric G: [00:02:00] No. Yeah. I kind of tracks it. Well, I mean, there's a big rubber piece around the outside and it's just super cheesy,

[:

[00:02:13] Eric G: I'm going to get this. I got to show it to you.

[:

[00:02:20] Eric G: As I come back to the visual here. So you've got the wheel piece, right? There's the thin that thing is.

[:

[00:02:42] Caroline B: So it's like, so for the audience to see, so imagine like a tire and these things are sort of like rims, they look like rims basically.

[:

[00:02:51] Eric G: Yeah. But it's, it's thick as, you know, maybe two credit cards.

[:

[00:03:18] Eric G: Yeah. Super easy. And it's the easiest thing to replace on that thing. It's literally two screws. So now trying to find the parts is the hard part because it's in a weird little land of LG. Oh, no, it's not. It's kind of appliances, but when you call the appliance parts, people, they don't really know what it is.

[:

[00:04:09] Eric G: Cause they're doing.

[:

[00:04:29] has

[:

[00:04:30] Caroline B: It's one piece.

[:

[00:04:48] Eric G: Good to go. So right before we jump on right here. I get the, uh, the email from genuine parts that says we we're writing to inform you that your order is on back order. And at this time with [00:05:00] an advanced foreseeable restocking date, as result, we have canceled your order and I'm like, oh, dude's so. Yeah.

[:

[00:05:14] Caroline B: You can't go. No vacuum. You've got dogs, you've got all kinds of stuff.

[:

[00:05:33] Eric G: So it's just not this whole back order with no thing. She's like, oh, well, So that's the saga of the thousand dollar robotic vacuum that should not have a wheel system that's as thick. I credit credit cards

[:

[00:05:53] Eric G: cleaned off it is.

[:

[00:06:21] Eric G: And broke the wheel. So that's my gas and

[:

[00:06:31] Eric G: in a circle. And I'm like,

[:

[00:06:34] Eric G: could have hit anything. Yeah. It was still in the middle of the floor. So it wasn't, there wasn't something that was. So I think what happened because it's a drive wheel and it holds, you know, it's actually asked to put pressure on it, that something earlier had cracked it.

[:

[00:06:51] Caroline B: was like, when you get a nail in your tire and you just keep going and then.

[:

[00:07:13] Eric G: And, uh, of course I had people going, Hey, I can 3d print you one. And I'm like, well, I think if I 3d print one, it's going to be in the same issue. Is that plastic still is. Thick enough to do it. So I got to go with. You know, just to make sure it's gonna work. Right. So, but, uh, it was a good option. I was like, man, if I had my buddy Tom around, I'd get him on his mill and we'd machine like custom metal, aluminum wheels for it,

[:

[00:07:47] Eric G: sound system, custom wheels, lower it, you know,

[:

[00:07:53] Eric G: down. Switches, you know, it's like, it's going down, it's dropping down, pick it up. You

[:

[00:08:06] Eric G: custom wheels for

[:

[00:08:08] Caroline B: Custom wheels. And then you could go into competitions. Remember how they had those

[:

[00:08:15] Caroline B: I have like knives coming

[:

[00:08:20] Eric G: It just wouldn't. I don't think it would make it though. You know, with these wheels, you'd definitely have to do something cause it would get on those robotic competitions. Those things are, are hardcore. And then yesterday I had an interesting one, so I called out the, you know, the call before you dig up.

[:

[00:08:53] Eric G: And I know they boarded in, but I didn't know where it came from. I know from the street, but didn't know where, so the guy came in, we [00:09:00] started chitchat and this guy has been doing it for 30 years. So I've got to learn a little bit about it. He's like, you know, one thing you gotta be careful when you call, before you dig is he says the ground can give off false signals.

[:

[00:09:36] Eric G: Wow. That the signal will bounce off and go over to the side. So he goes, oh my God, I always want to be careful. He goes, sometimes it's right there. He goes like, right here, he goes, look at this. He goes, this thing says it should be a, it should, it's 56 feet down. He goes, your gas line is not 56 feet down, but that's what it's telling.

[:

[00:10:20] Eric G: He goes, if the, uh, if you've got, uh, you know, any rocks that are magnetic or something, that's like really trying to, he goes, I don't understand the science of it, but it will bend the waves over. And he says, I've had it be three feet off before, and I've stood there. They've dug down. And said, well, it's right here.

[:

[00:10:43] Caroline B: tip that is, who would know. So whose responsibility is that? If it's, if it's off the, in somebody digs and

[:

[00:10:57] Eric G: If you called those guys and you still dug [00:11:00] something up. I mean, you're doing a specialty.

[:

[00:11:04] Eric G: I mean, I'm not an attorney, but you know, I think you've got to have done all it can do. Right. I've done all I can do. I followed your rules. It did what you said and, uh, you're good to go, but I was like, huh.

[:

[00:11:30] Caroline B: Found it found the water line

[:

[00:11:39] Eric G: He goes, yeah, I knew this neighborhood here. We don't. Cause they put them in and it's a black poly line. There's nothing to trace on it. They didn't put a tracer wire or anything down there and I'm like, awesome. So no way to do that. So that was my little, uh, Yeah. I was like, wow. Three [00:12:00] feet. Good to know.

[:

[00:12:10] Caroline B: I'm going to be hitting the lumberyard soon, you know? Cause I'm going to go out on my

[:

[00:12:18] Caroline B: Oh, I wasted like a half a gas driving around today.

[:

[00:12:28] Eric G: Don't get me going. I bank of America. I used to have those guys. I used to be a bank of America customer. Never again, there's

[:

[00:12:44] Caroline B: I'm like, what

[:

[00:12:51] Caroline B: I guess, I don't know, just trying to get some cash. The do it,

[:

[00:13:04] Caroline B: Yeah, that's exciting.

[:

[00:13:25] Eric G: Yeah, I do. I do it in metal, but I always put the flexible one beneath it.

[:

[00:13:29] Caroline B: going to do. I'm going to do exactly what she told me to do. Eric's genius. He said, put it's

[:

[00:13:41] Caroline B: I still haven't decided on the decking type. I'm kind of I'm up in the air about what I'm going to actually deck with, but I'm going to go with a metal frame, the metal for.

[:

[00:14:11] Eric G: We're still pretty high. So that's going to be, uh, I think it's going to be that way for a while. It looks like so, uh, steel might be. More cost-effective way to go. And then you still haven't figured out your top decking material. Huh?

[:

[00:14:31] Caroline B: Architect to the store. You said to blend that color tone. So I have a blonde floor in my home and I want to continue that blonde kind of color out to the deck. So it just makes sure, I think the space is bigger.

[:

[00:14:52] Eric G: It will clean up, but light colored decks. Like if you've got dogs like we do, and they go out and play in that in the winter, bud in the [00:15:00] grass. You will have a blond muddy looking deck. Now it washes off, but you kind of have to get out there with a scrub brush and, and hit it. And a little diligence. I did mine on this last weekend.

[:

[00:15:33] Eric G: Right. And you still have that little, yeah.

[:

[00:15:36] Eric G: scum. That's a good,

[:

[00:15:50] Caroline B: Right. It gives us like livable space and it's on the second floor. So it kind of expands. Yeah. I'm sorry. I can't

[:

[00:16:01] Caroline B: Yeah. It's something, something to do this spring. We all need spring projects. How about you? You're going to be doing Lee. He's doing

[:

[00:16:10] Eric G: Yeah. I got landscaping and a finish up on the master bedroom project. That's close. I got some, uh, what I'm gonna be doing is on the sunny days, I'm going to be working in there, working on the inside of the house. No, just kidding. I'll be outside working in the yard on the more winter rainy days that we get here in the spring time in Portland, then it'll be the inside projects.

[:

[00:16:53] Eric G: It was like forest of Ivy and stuff like that. That really didn't belong in that. You know what I mean? [00:17:00] Uh, well, there was some, I got that nuked out pretty quick, but now we've got regular, like English. And blackberries. And so I got to get those out of there. So, so,

[:

[00:17:19] Caroline B: So you don't get, uh, an outbreak or, or if you do see it, is there a better way to cut it down? Cut it back.

[:

[00:17:47] Eric G: I don't want to, I don't want to. So I go out and spend 30 bucks and get the spray. With the long wand and get out there and I just put it right on top of it. So I'm not, you know, [00:18:00] hosing around, over my head and covering up myself, but I'll get out there and hit that area. And, uh, you know, but the secret to that is too is you want to make sure that I like to do it when it's a little dryer, you have to do it when it's during growing season, when it's growing.

[:

[00:18:34] Eric G: Even when you hose it down with that stuff, it takes it, you know, a month or two to. There

[:

[00:18:59] Caroline B: Yeah. [00:19:00] Every year it's like somebody gets it.

[:

[00:19:16] Eric G: And I'm looking around out there, like. You know, walking through a minefield, I'm like,

[:

[00:19:23] Eric G: well. Do you get around like it now? Yeah. To get a rash, but it just gets a little like fiberglass itchy, which I don't want. Yeah. Yeah. So that's the key, but yeah. Sorry. I use your favorite chemical to go out and a new kit.

[:

[00:19:44] Eric G: Yeah. That's that's my

[:

[00:19:52] Eric G: Cool. Cool. We've got a fun show coming up this weekend. It's going to be a lot of fun. So we've got our [00:20:00] spring checklist, right? Yes, we do what you should be doing around your house this spring. So we're going to get your honey do list. Go on really big. On our number one. And then our number two, we got a twinsie my twinsie Katie linen doll.

[:

[00:20:20] Caroline B: hometown. It's like twinning big time. These two are like home tech. If you want to know anything about home tech, this is your show. These two

[:

[00:20:37] Eric G: But you know, if you've got kids for instance, that you're trying to manage that. You know, their internet usage and that stuff. We, we dive into that and you know, it's going to be a little bit different angle and Emmy award winning, um, home tech expert. Why not? Let's put her on the show and have some fun.

[:

[00:21:09] Eric G: and then show. Yeah. Yeah. And

[:

[00:21:14] Caroline B: I mean, it's, it's not for, I don't know. It's Renaissance lady. So it's more, I don't know. I feel like it's an empowering woman song. It's more like, I don't know if Eric let's do it, but

[:

[00:21:34] Eric G: So I'm Eric G and I'm Caroline. And you've been listening to around the house.[00:22:00]
