Shownotes
Today I'm sharing my top-10 takeaways from the Own Your Career Summit. Those include...
- Taking ownership of your career and life is paramount - this is the underlying theme of the whole summit. Stop waiting for others to give you things. Take ownership and take control of your future.
- It's important to make time to reflect on the work you love and set a vision for the future - one of the biggest problems out there is people don’t make space or time to reflect and plan.
- You need to truly visualize what you want to achieve and then set specific goals - When you have quiet time, start to visualize exactly what you want to achieve in your career and then start to work backwards and make a plan for how you can get there.
- Don't wait to build your network and prepare for the future - Dig your well before you’re thirsty. Start building relationships now before you need them.
- Your personal brand is essential to your future success - this is so underrated and underappreciated. Your brand is your reputation and stems from how you show up.
- Developing a growth and ownership mindset is crucial for your success - with a growth mindset, you can try new things and you believe you can always learn and improve.
- Do what is right for you - don’t get caught up in comparison. Set your own goals and chart your own path.
- Play the long game - Inspired by Dorie Clark’s book, always consider the big picture and keep the long game in mind
- Don't try to do it alone and don't be afraid to ask for help - I’ve received so much help in my career from coaches, mentors, friends, etc. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
- Invest in yourself - Both time and money. If you want to change careers, hire a career coach. Take a course, go to a conference, upgrade your summit ticket and take my course.
