Shownotes

Rev. Louis Maximo Wade Jr. was born on March 22, 1970, in Dangriga and is the only son among five children. From an early age, Wade demonstrated a passion for education, leadership, and service, qualities that would later define his life’s work in ministry, media, and national development.

Wade pursued his academic journey at Belize Technical College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Arts and Science. He later continued his studies at University of Belize, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. Dedicated to strengthening his spiritual calling, he most recently graduated in 2023 from Seminario Teologico Nazareno with a Bachelor in Christian Ministry.

Before entering full-time ministry and media, Wade began his professional career as an educator, teaching Biology and Chemistry at high schools in Belize City and Belmopan. His passion for music and ministry also led him to become the founder and lead singer of the Christian band D-Revelation, one of Belize’s most popular gospel groups. Under his leadership, the band achieved historic success, becoming one of the few Belizean bands to tour both the United States and Canada, while also selling out the Belize Civic Center on multiple occasions.

During his years with D-Revelation, Wade married the band’s female lead singer, Shasta Wade. Together, on May 8, 2003, they founded Shamax Production Ltd, which grew into one of the five largest cable media companies in Belize and became the only media house based in the nation’s capital city, Belmopan. Through Shamax Productions and PlusTV, the couple built a respected household brand known for community-centered programming, news, and Christian content.

After dedicating 17 years to building the company, in 2020, during the pandemic, Wade shifted much of his focus toward agriculture and personal wellness through gardening, a passion that inspired the creation of a new company, Blessed Gardens. Although he now spends much of his time cultivating his garden, his commitment to faith and service remains central to his life.

Rev. Wade currently serves as the pastor of the Belmopan Church of the Nazarene, where he continues to minister. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Wade was recently appointed as the Senator for the Churches in Belize, further expanding his role in national leadership and public service.

A devoted family man, Rev. Louis Maximo Wade Jr. is the proud father of four sons. Through education, music, media, ministry, and public service, he has made a lasting contribution to Belizean society and continues to inspire many through his dedication to faith, family, and community development.

Our prayer is that this listening space brings growth and transforms your life forever.

Speaker:

Praise God for you, Pastor Lewis.

Speaker:

It's a great pleasure to connect with you.

Speaker:

What part of the world are you in today?

Speaker:

Well, I'm in the country of Belize.

Speaker:

Central America is situated right below Mexico.

Speaker:

We are a part of the Caribbean, but we're on the mainland.

Speaker:

It's nice to have this conversation with you.

Speaker:

Yeah, definitely a pleasure to connect with you as well.

Speaker:

You know, when you say Belize, for some reason, I don't know what are the inputs, but I think of good food.

Speaker:

Immediately, it just comes.

Speaker:

Yeah, I think of good food.

Speaker:

Is it accurate, my discernment?

Speaker:

Is it accurate?

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

We use a lot of spices.

Speaker:

There are 18 cultures in our country, at least 18 cultures.

Speaker:

And so we have a mix of cuisine.

Speaker:

And so our staple food could range anywhere from rice and beans with a potato salad and chicken all the way through to more Hispanic foods, which include escabeche, black dinner, tamales, or down south, Garifuna food, which is serré or caldo from the Maya.

Speaker:

So we've got quite a cuisine going on in Belize.

Speaker:

How did you come to meet Jesus?

Speaker:

My father was a pastor, first generation Christian.

Speaker:

My mother was a second generation Christian.

Speaker:

So we grew up in a Christian home.

Speaker:

I give God thanks that I was able to accept the Lord as my personal savior at an early age.

Speaker:

At the age of 16, I really committed my life to the Lord.

Speaker:

And I've been in ministry since age 16.

Speaker:

That's amazing.

Speaker:

What happened after age 16?

Speaker:

I graduated from secondary school, entered my post-secondary schooling was in science, chemistry, and biology to be specific.

Speaker:

But on weekends, I did ministry in music.

Speaker:

And that's how I started a music ministry, a band called D-Revelation, which lasted for 19 years.

Speaker:

So we did mostly original Caribbean music with Belizean flavor.

Speaker:

And we were able to minister the gospel, even as very young people, even through to the age of, for 19 years, we would see hundreds of people come to know Christ as Lord and Savior.

Speaker:

So from 16 to 35 is my timeline, right?

Speaker:

And then are you having children?

Speaker:

Are you getting married?

Speaker:

Or it's only after you get married and have children?

Speaker:

I have four sons.

Speaker:

My oldest is now 27 years old.

Speaker:

He now works as a journalist in television.

Speaker:

So we are training him to take over Plus TV.

Speaker:

And then my second son, he's studying to be a dental surgeon.

Speaker:

So he took up the science side of being my two youngest sons.

Speaker:

The fourth is adopted.

Speaker:

So two of them are the same age, 22.

Speaker:

And they're both working.

Speaker:

Amazing.

Speaker:

So after the 27 year old, how old is the second?

Speaker:

The second is 24.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Where's all of the energy coming from to do everything that you're doing at the same time?

Speaker:

The way I see it is that my life is a gift from God.

Speaker:

It belongs to God.

Speaker:

And that we build one kingdom.

Speaker:

It's the kingdom of God.

Speaker:

So I don't see myself as doing multiple things.

Speaker:

I see myself as building the kingdom of God.

Speaker:

So there's just one thing that I do.

Speaker:

It may look as if I do many things, but it's to one aim.

Speaker:

And it is to see my nation of Belize become a nation that knows God, not just culturally, but intimately.

Speaker:

The thought bubble that comes to my mind is what is required as the leader of a band.

Speaker:

So there are so many other people that are doing different things that may seem as though it's not contributing to the main thing, but because it's one song that you're singing and of course having one mission, then it reconnects and shows truth in the pattern of who you are being the lead singer of the band and of course leading the band.

Speaker:

But of course, there's a drummer there, there's the keyboardist, there's the backup singers, but understanding how to get everyone to that place, it resonates that that's what you've been practicing, isn't it?

Speaker:

Yeah, I believe that God used music to mold me and to hold me until I understood his call for my life.

Speaker:

So I did not know there's a passage of scripture that says that your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men.

Speaker:

I did not know that when I picked up the guitar at age six, that set a trajectory in my life that brought me to where I am today.

Speaker:

Because at age six, I started to play the guitar.

Speaker:

At age 16, I was writing songs with that guitar.

Speaker:

My friends were Christians, they were musicians, and we formed that band D-Revelation.

Speaker:

In order for me to produce our music because there was not a Christian production company in the country, I launched Shamaks Productions, which later launched Plus TV, which later formed the morning pop show called Rise and Shine, from which we were able to minister to the country.

Speaker:

And then from that, I became a senator in parliament, which is what I do now.

Speaker:

And it's just an extension of everything that I did before.

Speaker:

And so I see God, I see God tangibly at work in my life to bring about his desire for this little country that he loves dearly.

Speaker:

So our band, the people who were kids back then working together, today, three of us are pastors from that band and everybody is still involved in worship or worship music or some form of ministry.

Speaker:

So we've had a conversation.

Speaker:

I'm about to leave and I ask you to tell me one story.

Speaker:

What story would you choose?

Speaker:

In our country, over the last decade, there has been the fight to legalize prostitution, legalize drugs, specifically marijuana, and also legalize LGBTQIA activity.

Speaker:

And the way the world is working like that very heavy liberal agenda has been forcing its way into legislation.

Speaker:

God has given us, me and a team of other pastors, the national platform that which we have been able to preserve our nation against these liberal agendas.

Speaker:

And it's amazing because back then when I started television, I had no clue what God wanted to do.

Speaker:

And today, I see so clearly that God was setting up the infrastructure and the people and the networks to be able to preserve a nation in the midst of a very liberal drift that is taking place in the world.

Speaker:

So I thank God for the opportunity to serve my nation in this way.

Speaker:

Giving intentionality to that, what's a message you'd leave for you five years from today listening to this?

Speaker:

Well, I would say we build one kingdom regardless of the pressures, regardless of financial issues, regardless of where the world goes, regardless of the ideologies.

Speaker:

The nation of Belize needs to be on that final day when the sheep and the goats stand before him.

Speaker:

Our nation needs to be represented and people need to know God and have a personal relationship with him.

Speaker:

We build the kingdom of God.

Speaker:

For God gave the best to us.

Speaker:

Be reminded that in everything, I must give my best to him.

Speaker:

It's been an honor speaking with you.

Speaker:

In closing, is there anything else you'd like to share?

Speaker:

Well, I would say God bless you.

Speaker:

He uses us in so many ways.

Speaker:

And indeed, just as you finished off, the work that you do will outlive you.

Speaker:

It will outlive your children.

Speaker:

And we give God thanks to live in a generation where even though evil has increased, so has righteousness as God promised, you know.

Speaker:

And so our work will outlast us.

Speaker:

Every recording that you make, every recording I made, it will continue to minister and the Holy Spirit will continue to use it for his glory.

Speaker:

So continue to give your best and may you reach every nation of the world in Jesus name.

Speaker:

Amen, amen.

Speaker:

The first in Belize, yeah, for the podcast.

Speaker:

Reverend Lewis, a pleasure, a treasure.

Speaker:

Thank you for being on what is inspired by 12-Minute Conference.
