Speaker:

Welcome to the EQFIT® Podcast.

Speaker:

Our mission is to equip people to prosper in every aspect of their life, whether

Speaker:

you're at home or in the workplace.

Speaker:

We explore practical ways of improving success, satisfaction, finding

Speaker:

balance, and building enjoyable and beneficial relationships.

Speaker:

Thank you for joining us.

Speaker:

Today’s conversation is one that every entrepreneur, leader, and

Speaker:

professional needs to hear—because it quietly determines how far you

Speaker:

can go in both life and business.

Speaker:

Your business will never outgrow your personal capacity.

Speaker:

That’s the core of what I call the Inside-Out Growth Principle.

Speaker:

Every system you lead—your team, your processes, your culture—reflects

Speaker:

what’s happening inside of you.

Speaker:

Your mindset, emotional patterns, and daily habits all find their way

Speaker:

into how your business performs.

Speaker:

The health, clarity, and maturity of your inner world show up

Speaker:

in your external results.

Speaker:

Recently, I have had the opportunity to speak with a

Speaker:

large number of entrepreneurs.

Speaker:

Some of them are coming out of the corporate world and

Speaker:

starting their own business.

Speaker:

Others have been in business for years and are trying to get to the next level.

Speaker:

I have found several things they have in common:

Speaker:

Almost every one of them wants to know how to grow their business.

Speaker:

For many, that means "How do I get more clients or customers?"

Speaker:

Most people do not start their own business to become a salesperson.

Speaker:

They want to bring their passion and expertise to the marketplace.

Speaker:

But that means you have to have a business development mindset

Speaker:

if you want to have a business.

Speaker:

This is where most people face uncertainty, and where counterproductive

Speaker:

habits can hold people back.

Speaker:

Avoidance, procrastination, fear of the unknown.

Speaker:

In those conversations I ask one simple question, "Can you have a productive

Speaker:

conversation with other people?" The answer is almost always yes.

Speaker:

Then I say, "Selling is simply conversations with a purpose." Most

Speaker:

of these entrepreneurs find this is a new and more comfortable way to think

Speaker:

about selling and gaining new business.

Speaker:

Their mindset shifts.

Speaker:

That is the essence of growing yourself.

Speaker:

If you are willing to receive feedback and shift your mindset, then you can

Speaker:

grow...both yourself and your business.

Speaker:

For most business owners, the biggest limitation isn’t the market,

Speaker:

competition, or even strategy—it’s what’s going on internally.

Speaker:

The fears that drive overwork.

Speaker:

The habits that drain focus.

Speaker:

The mindset that keeps you reactive instead of proactive.

Speaker:

Until you grow yourself, your business can only go so far.

Speaker:

Here’s the good news: you can grow.

Speaker:

The brain is what scientists call plastic, meaning it can physically

Speaker:

change and adapt throughout life.

Speaker:

Through practice and intentional focus, you can rewire patterns of

Speaker:

thought, emotion, and behavior.

Speaker:

You can train your mind for sharper focus, greater emotional balance,

Speaker:

and stronger leadership skills.

Speaker:

That’s not motivational fluff—it’s neuroscience.

Speaker:

Fixed vs.

Growth Mindset:

Reactive vs.

Growth Mindset:

Proactive

Growth Mindset:

When we talk about mindset, we’re really talking about how you see yourself

Growth Mindset:

and the world—and that perspective shapes every decision you make.

Growth Mindset:

A fixed mindset is reactive by nature.

Growth Mindset:

It’s driven by fear, comparison, and control.

Growth Mindset:

People in this state tend to see challenges as threats

Growth Mindset:

and feedback as criticism.

Growth Mindset:

They focus on protecting what they already know rather than

Growth Mindset:

exploring what they could learn.

Growth Mindset:

In a fixed mindset, the inner voice says things like, “I’m just not good at

Growth Mindset:

this,” or “That’s how I’ve always been.”

Growth Mindset:

A fixed mindset is more concerned with looking right than getting better.

Growth Mindset:

It’s the part of us that resists change, that blames circumstances, or that avoids

Growth Mindset:

feedback because it feels uncomfortable.

Growth Mindset:

It makes decisions out of pressure or emotion rather than clarity and purpose.

Growth Mindset:

It wants to control outcomes rather than influence them.

Growth Mindset:

This is where you find burnout, frustration, and stagnation—it’s

Growth Mindset:

the emotional equivalent of being stuck in neutral.

Growth Mindset:

By contrast, a growth mindset is proactive.

Growth Mindset:

It’s grounded in curiosity, humility, and courage.

Growth Mindset:

It sees challenges as opportunities to grow, not threats to security.

Growth Mindset:

People with a growth mindset welcome feedback because they recognize

Growth Mindset:

it as data for improvement.

Growth Mindset:

They understand that failure isn’t final—it’s feedback.

Growth Mindset:

They take ownership for results, even when things don’t go as planned, and

Growth Mindset:

they focus on what they can learn rather than what they can control.

Growth Mindset:

A growth mindset asks questions like, “What can I learn from this?”

Growth Mindset:

or “What could I do differently next time?” It invites possibility.

Growth Mindset:

It doesn’t protect the ego; it develops the person.

Growth Mindset:

When you’re in a growth mindset, you’re less defensive and more curious.

Growth Mindset:

You’re not afraid of what you don’t know—you’re energized

Growth Mindset:

by the opportunity to learn.

Growth Mindset:

That shift from reactive to proactive is powerful because it moves

Growth Mindset:

you from surviving to thriving.

Growth Mindset:

You can often tell which mindset you’re in by how you respond to stress.

Growth Mindset:

When you’re reactive, you defend, justify, or explain.

Growth Mindset:

You seek comfort and predictability.

Growth Mindset:

You look for control.

Growth Mindset:

But when you’re proactive, you pause, reflect, and adapt.

Growth Mindset:

You take ownership, seek clarity, and act with purpose.

Growth Mindset:

One closes you off; the other opens you up.

Growth Mindset:

One limits potential; the other expands it.

Growth Mindset:

The key isn’t to eliminate reactivity—it’s to recognize it.

Growth Mindset:

Every one of us slips into a fixed mindset from time to time.

Growth Mindset:

The goal is awareness.

Growth Mindset:

Because awareness gives you choice—and choice creates growth.

Growth Mindset:

The Inside-Out Growth Process

Growth Mindset:

Before we talk about scaling your business, we have to

Growth Mindset:

talk about scaling yourself.

Growth Mindset:

The Inside-Out Growth Process is not a quick fix or a motivational

Growth Mindset:

idea—it’s a lifetime skill.

Growth Mindset:

It’s the art of continually developing who you are so you can elevate what you do.

Growth Mindset:

It starts with self-awareness.

Growth Mindset:

That means recognizing your emotional and behavioral patterns—those

Growth Mindset:

autopilot responses that drive your actions and decisions.

Growth Mindset:

Maybe you overcommit because you equate busyness with value.

Growth Mindset:

Maybe you avoid conflict because you fear rejection.

Growth Mindset:

Maybe you take on too much because it feels easier to do

Growth Mindset:

it yourself than to delegate.

Growth Mindset:

Whatever the pattern, awareness is where transformation begins.

Growth Mindset:

Once you can see it, the next step is ownership.

Growth Mindset:

Take responsibility without judgment.

Growth Mindset:

Growth doesn’t come from blame—it comes from acceptance.

Growth Mindset:

You can’t change what you won’t own.

Growth Mindset:

Ownership says, “This is me right now, but it doesn’t have to be me forever.” That’s

Growth Mindset:

the starting point of true maturity.

Growth Mindset:

Next comes intention.

Growth Mindset:

Define who you’re becoming—not just what you want to achieve.

Growth Mindset:

Write it down.

Growth Mindset:

Describe how your future self thinks, leads, and interacts with others.

Growth Mindset:

For example, “I want to become a leader who responds calmly under pressure,” or

Growth Mindset:

“I want to be someone who listens fully before reacting.” Intention directs your

Growth Mindset:

energy and keeps you aligned with purpose.

Growth Mindset:

Then comes practice.

Growth Mindset:

Growth isn’t theoretical—it’s practical.

Growth Mindset:

If you want to develop emotional regulation, you have

Growth Mindset:

to practice it in the moment.

Growth Mindset:

When tension rises, pause, name the emotion, breathe, and choose

Growth Mindset:

your next move intentionally.

Growth Mindset:

If you want better boundaries, practice saying, “Let me think about that and get

Growth Mindset:

back to you.” Over time, small, consistent actions reshape the brain’s pathways.

Growth Mindset:

Feedback is the next step.

Growth Mindset:

You can’t grow in isolation.

Growth Mindset:

Ask trusted people for insight: “When do you see me at my best?” or “What

Growth Mindset:

patterns might be holding me back?” Their perspective can reveal blind

Growth Mindset:

spots that self-reflection can’t.

Growth Mindset:

And finally, integration.

Growth Mindset:

Over time, these new ways of thinking and acting become part of who you are.

Growth Mindset:

They move from effort to instinct.

Growth Mindset:

You don’t have to remind yourself to pause, lead calmly, or set

Growth Mindset:

boundaries—you just do it naturally.

Growth Mindset:

That’s when transformation has taken root.

Growth Mindset:

This process never ends.

Growth Mindset:

It’s not a box you check—it’s a rhythm you live by.

Growth Mindset:

Growth is a lifelong discipline, not a seasonal goal.

Growth Mindset:

Each stage of life and business will call for new versions of

Growth Mindset:

you, and that’s the beauty of it: you’re never finished growing.

Growth Mindset:

Why Growth Pays Off: The ROI of Development

Growth Mindset:

Personal growth always precedes professional growth.

Growth Mindset:

The return on investment is tangible.

Growth Mindset:

When you develop better self-awareness, you make clearer decisions.

Growth Mindset:

When you strengthen self-regulation, you create steadiness in times of uncertainty.

Growth Mindset:

When you grow empathy, you improve communication, collaboration,

Growth Mindset:

and customer connection.

Growth Mindset:

According to research from Harvard Business Review and Gallup,

Growth Mindset:

leaders with higher emotional intelligence drive significantly

Growth Mindset:

better engagement and profitability.

Growth Mindset:

Teams perform better under leaders who are emotionally balanced and self-aware.

Growth Mindset:

And it’s not just theory—organizations that invest in leadership and mindset

Growth Mindset:

development see measurable gains in retention, innovation, and productivity.

Growth Mindset:

Better self-management reduces conflict and rework.

Growth Mindset:

Healthy boundaries prevent burnout.

Growth Mindset:

Focused attention leads to higher performance.

Growth Mindset:

Growth isn’t just personally fulfilling—it’s strategically smart.

Growth Mindset:

Bringing Personal and Business Growth Together

Growth Mindset:

Here’s the part most leaders miss: personal growth and business growth are

Growth Mindset:

not separate—they’re deeply intertwined.

Growth Mindset:

Every time you grow your personal capacity—mentally, emotionally,

Growth Mindset:

or behaviorally—you expand your professional potential.

Growth Mindset:

Your capacity determines your competency, and your competency sets

Growth Mindset:

the ceiling on your company’s success.

Growth Mindset:

When you strengthen self-awareness, you lead with greater clarity.

Growth Mindset:

When you develop emotional balance, you create stability in your team.

Growth Mindset:

When you grow empathy and understanding, you cultivate loyalty and collaboration.

Growth Mindset:

When you build resilience, your business becomes adaptable and enduring.

Growth Mindset:

This is how leadership becomes a multiplier.

Growth Mindset:

As you grow, everything and everyone around you begins to grow with you.

Growth Mindset:

But here’s the catch: this isn’t a one-time effort.

Growth Mindset:

It’s a faithful practice.

Growth Mindset:

Sustainable success doesn’t come from intensity—it comes from consistency.

Growth Mindset:

You can’t just “do growth” when it’s convenient. You build it into your daily

Growth Mindset:

rhythm—just like exercise for the body, it’s training for the mind and heart.

Growth Mindset:

Every moment you choose reflection over reaction, growth over comfort, purpose

Growth Mindset:

over pressure—you’re increasing capacity.

Growth Mindset:

And as that capacity expands, so does what’s possible for your business,

Growth Mindset:

your relationships, and your legacy.

Growth Mindset:

Growth - Capacity - Competence - Opportunity - Impact.

Growth Mindset:

That’s the cycle of sustainable success.

Growth Mindset:

And as long as you keep growing, that cycle keeps expanding.

Growth Mindset:

So let me ask you: where in your business are you reacting instead of growing?

Growth Mindset:

What’s one personal pattern that might be holding your business back?

Growth Mindset:

Maybe it’s overextending yourself, avoiding difficult conversations, or

Growth Mindset:

leading from stress instead of strategy.

Growth Mindset:

Identify it, measure it, and begin transforming it.

Growth Mindset:

Because the truth is simple—your business will only grow as fast as you do.

Growth Mindset:

If you’re ready to start your Inside-Out Growth journey, I’d love to help you.

Growth Mindset:

Growth Mindset:

And when you grow yourself, everything you lead grows with you.
