Shownotes

Caring for others starts with awareness, connection, compassion, and making sure you restore yourself enough to keep showing up. Dr. Tamia Dow shares her Art of Caring framework, beginning with ART: awareness, reach, and treasure, then expanding into CARING: choose compassion, appreciate, restore yourself, inspire, never miss a moment, and give glory. Her message is simple: caring does not have to be dramatic to matter. Sometimes it starts with noticing someone, making eye contact, sending a message, offering a smile, or reaching out first.

Drawing from a life rooted in service, law enforcement, ministry, filmmaking, and storytelling, Tamia explains why she sees caring as both a responsibility and a way of creating impact. She also reminds caregivers and leaders that they cannot continually pour into others without restoring themselves along the way. For Tamia, leadership is less about being remembered for what you said and more about how your presence made someone feel, encouraged them, or inspired them to care for someone else in return.

Waves Worth Catching

  • Why awareness is the first step in caring, especially in a world where it is easy to be physically present but completely disconnected.
  • What can change when you stop waiting for someone else to reach out and choose to make the first move.
  • Why caring for yourself is part of caring for others, not something separate from it.
  • How small acts like a wave, smile, text, or moment of attention can create a much bigger ripple than you may realize.
  • What it means to use your life, presence, and gifts in a way that leaves people feeling better than you found them.
