Nathan:

3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

Paul. 1 Co 7:3. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is a Bonus day in 30 Days to a Better Marriage. Affection. Be deliberate about this one—no matter what you feel or don’t feel inside. If you’re serious about making your marriage the best it can be, than no matter how you’re feeling at the moment, showing affection is genuine and authentic, because, in spite of your momentary feelings, it does reflect your real desire for your marriage. You might ever be surprised that exhibiting affection can restore your internal sense of reflection that might have faded, or even been displaced by bitterness. I’ve discovered that affection is what I choose to make it, not what I feel at the moment—affection sometimes springs up spontaneously, but not all the time. However, the more intentional I am about being affectionate, the more I feel affectionate. Give that peck on the cheek; cherry ‘hello’; gentle squeeze; kind word—and watch your own heart—and your spouse’s—begin to flourish again.
