Finding Meaning Through Chaos

Calming the Chaos welcomes Francie White, Ph.D. and Maria Rippo, M.A. onto a Live YouTube Show on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 1pm PST. We will talk about how painful and chaotic experiences can help you find meaning in life, and can prepare you to better cope with life’s challenges!

  1. The goal: To help people see
    1. That we have a deficit of meaning in our lives
    2. Because we lack meaning in our lives, we have more chaos in our lives
    3. How can we find a meaningful life that has purpose and value?
    4. How finding meaning can calm the chaos
  2. What do we mean by “Meaning?”
    1. What draws you in, makes you excited, fills you with passion
    2. A sense of purpose, awe and wonder, inspiration at heightened levels
  • There is a deficit / “Crisis” of felt-meaning amongst people in our culture (The collective)
    1. “When you lack meaning in your life, this is what happens.”
      1. Empty, lonely and lost
      2. Without direction, faith or hope
  • Escape from the self that has no meaning or purpose
  1. Reaching out for shallow sources of meaning
  1. A solution (among individuals and the collective)
    1. Create more meaning in your life
    2. Feel like your life has purpose
  • Sense your own unique value in life
  1. Share your talents, strengths and gifts with others who are struggling

He asks us to imagine a world where we never have to feel anything we don’t want to feel; where we have complete control of what we feel and when we feel it.
