My chosen text today is one of the most difficult-to-preach in a world that has suffered so greatly from godly spiritual erosion, but the Bible categorically states, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) I believe that there are great life lessons we all can learn from these apparently difficult readings that seems to dwell very much on curse.
Part of the questions we should be asking ourselves today is whether our own contexts in 2019 are any better than those from our readings. God’s word expressly said in Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is the most deceitful thing there is and desperately wicked. No one can really know how bad it is”, so you see we are not spared at all simply because we are human beings.
