Imagine getting up every day full of energy is if you were in your 20s. Again, what would that be like?
Melissa Deally:What would that be worth to you?
Unknown:What is your health worth to you? Think about it.
Melissa Deally:Your health isn't everything. But without it, everything else is nothing. And yet too many of us are taking it for granted until something goes wrong. No one wakes up hoping to be diagnosed with a disease or chronic illness. And yet, we've never been taught how to be proactive in our health through our school system, or public health. As a registered health coach and integrative health practitioner, I believe it is time this information is made available to everyone. Combining new knowledge around your health and the ability to do my functional medicine lab tests in the comfort of your own home will allow you to optimize your health for today and all your tomorrow's don't wait for your wake up call.
Melissa Deally:Welcome back to another episode of The don't wait for your wake up call podcast. My name is Melissa Deally and I am your host. And I am excited to start a new theme. This month we're going to be diving into the power of holistic health. But first, I would just love to share with you. Another wonderful testimonial that I've received. This is from Candy Motze in Vancouver. She says wow, I had such an interesting experience doing an NLP technique with Melissa and removing trigger foods, we used my favorite type of cake tiramisu to be specific. And within just 10 minutes of using this technique, I no longer have any desire for it at all and amazing experience. And so that testimonial just shows you how powerful these NLP techniques are, and how quickly we can reprogram your unconscious mind in order to shift yourself into living a more desirable way. And in this case, Candy didn't want to always be eating the whole tiramisu cake, she just didn't want to have it at all anymore. So I'm super happy that I was able to help you with that candy. And thank you for sending me that testimonial.
Unknown:So back to the power of Holistic Health.
Melissa Deally:This month, as I said, I really want to showcase to you all of the options that are available to you within the realm of Holistic Health. And today I'm going to start out by sharing with you different types of medicines from around the world. And how when you blend them all together, this really allows you a well rounded approach to your healing. There is no right way there is no one way in your health journey. Your body is different to mine and everyone else's. And so what might work for one person may not be the exact answer for you. Therefore being aware of your options is important as well as being open to the process. You see there is no magic pill. I know we all wish there was but there is no magic pill or magic fix. It requires understanding the root cause through lab testing, and then knowing the protocol options as a result of the information provided in those lab tests. And but we may need to tweak them. Just knowing the lab results and the protocol options may not be enough for you, we may need to have to add on extra strap steps. Or that might be too much for another person and we may have to dial back their dose and ease them into their protocol more gently. We also want to be addressing the health of your emotional and mental bodies as well. As I've talked about in the last two months of these episodes. Mindset is key in your health journey, as is your emotional state. When we address all of this, we have the greatest success in bringing your body back into balance so that it can heal itself just as it's designed to do if we simply address the physical body, but let the negative emotions fester, you could end up right back where you were. If we don't address the mindset, then your body may not be able to heal because your powerful mindset is giving your body the direction to heal.
Melissa Deally:This is why there can't ever be a magic pill. But we can use the tools we have from a myriad of modalities to help guide the body back into balance. So it can heal. And when we use integrative health, it's like putting together a puzzle each step guiding us to the next step. As the picture becomes more and more clear, and our body guides us through the lessening of symptoms and feeling better overall All. In Episode 88, I shared the power of our unconscious mind and the ability to update our operating system, which is critical in our healing journey as this relates to healing our mental and emotional bodies. And today I'm going to share with you the seven branches on which Dr. Cabral founded the integrative health practitioner organization. I want to share these with you so you are aware these options are available to you. And so you know that you can always get a second or third opinion when it comes to your health. And you can always look for the reason why you are experiencing the symptoms you have. So these seven modalities are in no particular order. I'm just starting with a Vedic medicine, which is its root stem from India. It is a 6000 year old study on the truth of or science of life. It is the oldest form of medicine still practice today. Some of their healing methods have not yet been proven by the science of conventional medicine, and so it may not feel comfortable to people following Western medicine. However, the plant based herbs and remedies have been healing people for longer than Western medicine has been around. And I am personally seeing the results in just their detox herbs for all of the people I've guided through my detox program. Then we have traditional Chinese medicine and herbalism. Again, a very old form of medicine. It's about 5000 years old and is now practiced all over the world. Although like the name says it comes from China. Originally, TCM includes acupuncture, cupping Tai Chi and Qigong. Qigong is a form of moving meditation to shift energy within the body. As well as it includes plant based herbs and remedies. Then we have functional medicine. And this is a really, it's really a new form of naturopath II, which is all about discovering the root cause of your symptoms, which is why I'm always talking about that, using a variety of lab tests that allow us to discover the body's toxicities, deficiencies and imbalances so that we know how to guide the body back into balance, at which point it will heal itself. While the lab tests are an excellent source of data, practitioners must also remember to always treat the human not just the numbers on the labs. And what I mean by that is the person's symptoms and their lifestyle must be factored into any wellness protocol that is created alongside the lab test results. So it's not just about the numbers. It's also about the person. Then we have traditional naturopath it and these practitioners were previously called natural hygienist and this is based on the idea of living right to balance the body. It's been around for about 200 years. And then conventional medicine and Big Pharma took over and squashed chiropractors and then naturopathic practices suggesting they were quackery. Traditional naturopath he focuses on easy to digest foods, purification of the diet, mind and body and quieting the sympathetic nervous system, which is your stress state, because the body cannot heal in a stressed out state. So we have to quiet it first before the body can heal. Melissa Deally:orthomolecular medicine is another of the seven forms of medicine. And this is the medicine of therapeutic doses of vitamins. It is all about using the right molecules in the right amounts to help the body heal. It is well known that mega dosing can help with alleviating depression and rebalancing cholesterol and blood sugar levels as well as helping the body fight off cancer. This form of medicine is all about supplementation, although it doesn't necessarily get to the root cause. It does however, help in the short term in the ability to bring the body back into balance. Ideally, when we use a blend of medicines in an integrative way we can use orthomolecular medicine to help rebalance the body while we run the lab tests to get to the root cause and then we support the body with supplements while also addressing the root cause changing lifestyle factors so that we can eventually wean off the supplements once the body is back in balance and the root cause has been addressed, so the body can then hopefully stay in balance. Another form of medicine is called Bio regulatory medicine. And this is the science of self healing. The goal of bio regulatory medicine is to support or restore that self regulating state of well being, and self healing, focusing on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the person. To achieve this goal, bio regulatory medicine is committed to fostering balance and harmony between the individual's internal environment or milieu and their outer environment. So bio regulatory medicine looks back to the proven and effective ancient traditional medical systems such as a robotic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, as well as looks forward to the most innovative cutting edge technologies being advanced today. It is very well known in Europe, but much less known in North America. And we have Eastern philosophy. This is where we start to connect the body and mind as this philosophy is all about using the mind to heal the body, you change your thoughts and your body will change and vice versa through the vagus nerve. If you can't heal your mental state, then you won't fully heal, your neuro programming needs to be rewired. And this is where my NLP work using the power of our unconscious mind also ties in beautifully. And why I decided to train in these additional modalities to be able to offer a higher level of healing to my clients. As I said earlier, I talked about this in Episode 88, if you would like to go back and listen to that to learn more. So as you can see, there are many different methodologies you can use on your healing journey. You don't just have to stick with your family doctor. I am a big believer in having access to more than one approach approach, getting second opinions and then deciding what is right for you. You might be thinking, but how do I know which one is right for me. And so finding an integrative practitioner means you don't have to choose just one, you're getting all of those modalities in one person. And I do love that as an integrative practitioner, I can draw on aspects of all of the above mentioned modalities when working with my clients. And yet, I also know that I can't possibly have all the answers. No one person can know it all. As I discussed in my podcast on personal growth, that was episode 82, if you want to go and check that out. And so I surround myself with many other practitioners that can support my clients. And when they are knee in need of something that I don't offer, I can refer them to one of these other practitioners. I also talked about the need to build a network of health practitioners around you in my series on ideal partnerships. So if you want to go and check that out, that was episode 73. Now for the rest of this month, I'm going to be bringing you some another holistic practitioner, she is actually my thermographer. And she's going to be teaching you about an alternative to mammograms that is completely pain free, and allows much earlier detection than you get with mammograms. So it's another preventative resource for you. I also have a guest who will be sharing her story as to how she healed herself naturally from Lyme disease to give hope to others who are currently struggling with this debilitating disease and not getting the support they need from their family doctor. And I'm doing something completely different that I haven't done before. But I'm creating a compilation episode of all of the amazing practitioners and healers I've had on this podcast since it started back in March 2020 2021. Sorry, to remind you of all the different options you have in being proactive with your health and seeking solutions when something is off. Almost everyone I've had on my show can work with you virtually so you don't have to be in the same location to engage in their services. If you want to be connected to any of them, go back to the episode they were featured in to get their contact details from the show notes and let them know you heard about them on this podcast or email me at Melissa, your guide to health journey.com And I can provide their contact details to you. Again, you might be wondering how do I choose which person to work with and I encourage you to interview them. Most practitioners offer a complimentary initial session so that you can get to know them and they can get to know you. Feel free to chat with a few of us and then decide who you feel most connected to, that you'd like to work with, and that you feel can help you. And they believe that they can help you too. Because all of that is really important. If you don't believe they can help you, then that's not a solution for you. If they don't believe you, they can help you that is also not a solution for you. So they have to believe they can help you, you have to believe they can help you. And then you can decide of those people, who do you want to work with, you'll know who the right person is. And if you can't choose between two or three practitioners, be thankful that you have so many choices, and so many resources, and draw store straws, or put their names in a hat and draw out a name. There is there are so many options in the field of Holistic Health, that I just want you to be aware of what's out there. And if you're thinking gee, I wonder if such and such if I can do that. Or if there's a practitioner that can help me with that reach out because I do have a very large network of holistic healers. And I can certainly point you in the direction if you're looking for help in your health journey and looking to move away from mainstream and into the holistic realm. So thank you very much for listening.
Melissa Deally:If there's somebody that you know that could benefit from this podcast, please feel free in sharing it. And I welcome you to come back throughout the rest of this month to continue this journey with me as we dive into different modalities and different ways people feel themselves using holistic methods.
