Start with your goals, typically revenue, and define your KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) that you need to focus on. Then set up Google Analytics to feed you that data. You also need to go beyond the quantitative data provided by Google Analytics and augment with with qualitative information that covers the full cycle of your revenue generating activities - online and off.
