Speaker:

It's time for the five minute brand, quick and dirty tips for

Speaker:

creating a killer personal brand.

Speaker:

This is not about logos and designs.

Speaker:

This is about telling your story in a way that captures the attention of the

Speaker:

people who are already looking for you.

Speaker:

This is branding from the inside out.

Speaker:

Here's your host, Robyn Sayles.

Robyn:

If you were to Google how to build a personal brand or how to add

Robyn:

personality to a business brand, you're gonna find a lot of advice that tells

Robyn:

you things like just be yourself.

Robyn:

Just be yourself, be you.

Robyn:

Be authentic.

Robyn:

And you might look at those answers and go, yeah, but how?

Robyn:

How the heck do I do that?

Robyn:

If I knew how to authentically explain?

Robyn:

Who I am and how I add value, I wouldn't be freaking Googling

Robyn:

how to build a personal brand.

Robyn:

my friend, the answer that is going to help you tremendously

Robyn:

is personality assessments.

Robyn:

And you may chuckle, and you may think they're garbage and

Robyn:

some of them are quite frankly.

Robyn:

But personality assessments can help you find the language to describe

Robyn:

you, to describe your value.

Robyn:

But Robyn, which one should I use?

Robyn:

I am so glad you asked.

Robyn:

And the answer is, it depends.

Robyn:

It depends on what story you are trying to tell with your brand.

Robyn:

Let me give you a couple of examples.

Robyn:

The Myers-Briggs type indicator or M B T I is one of the most commonly used ones.

Robyn:

It is psychology based.

Robyn:

There's been some research debunking it a little bit.

Robyn:

And I think that's merely because it tries to break humans down

Robyn:

into boxes that are too simple.

Robyn:

We are not that simple.

Robyn:

Humans are more complicated, but sometimes you just need the

Robyn:

simple language to start with.

Robyn:

And so for many brands, businesses, companies trying to build a team,

Robyn:

M B T I is a great starting place.

Robyn:

often used for team building, leadership development, and career counseling.

Robyn:

if your personal or business brand is focused around things adjacent

Robyn:

to those topics, then that's gonna be a good personality assessment

Robyn:

that you could pull language from.

Robyn:

Another one that's used out there abundantly is called DISC.

Robyn:

D I S C DISC is a set of behavioral styles, often used for communication,

Robyn:

training sales or customer service because they help clue us in on.

Robyn:

Behavioral styles of the people that we're working with selling to or trying

Robyn:

to help if you are very sales based or need to quickly and effectively

Robyn:

communicate with a wide swath of people, disk is a really good one to start

Robyn:

with and to pull some language from.

Robyn:

Another one that's out there.

Robyn:

This is more for the corporate peeps that would be strengths,

Robyn:

finders, strengths finder.

Robyn:

I always wanna put a s at the end.

Robyn:

Strength finder is probably the more robust of the three.

Robyn:

really tailored to career development.

Robyn:

coaching and facilitation.

Robyn:

If you're in anything adjacent to career coaching or facilitation, strength finder

Robyn:

is going to be a helpful tool for you to pull language from that will help

Robyn:

you explain to the people who need you.

Robyn:

What it is that you do and how it is that you do it.

Robyn:

And that's my recommendation for these.

Robyn:

You don't use the language exactly.

Robyn:

You don't base your whole personality brand in existence

Robyn:

around these personality assessments.

Robyn:

They're a starting point.

Robyn:

They give you language that you can use and jump off from and tweak and

Robyn:

refine until you find the perfect language for you and your brand.

Robyn:

My favorite one, and it's the one that I use with most of my clients

Robyn:

and most of the teams that I work with is called the Fascination Advantage.

Robyn:

Now the Fascination Test is rooted in science and branding, and it specifically

Robyn:

has a focus on communication, it's going to identify the qualities that

Robyn:

make you fascinating to others and tell you how to talk about those things.

Robyn:

whatever your strengths are, the fascination test is gonna help you

Robyn:

identify them and then give you the language to talk about it in a way

Robyn:

that helps other people understand exactly what they're gonna get

Robyn:

from you and from working with you.

Robyn:

It is like the most.

Robyn:

Epic cheat sheet When it comes to building a personal brand or injecting

Robyn:

your personality into your brand and making sure that it's truly

Robyn:

authentic and captivating and not hard, it's sometimes so hard to figure

Robyn:

out how to talk about ourselves.

Robyn:

And if you don't have the ability to hire a professional like me, these

Robyn:

personality assessments can be a huge leg up in helping you find the language

Robyn:

to communicate and advocate and build a brand.

Robyn:

That really showcases you and your talents and your value.

Robyn:

So I will provide links to all of these in the show notes.

Robyn:

And again, no matter which one you use, they provide the language that

Robyn:

you can start building a brand off of and they will jumpstart you towards

Robyn:

crafting a brand that is uniquely you.

Robyn:

The five Minute brand is brought to you by launching your success, not your average

Robyn:

training because you're not average.
