The hottest AI stock today isn’t a chip company. It’s a nuclear power company.
Constellation Energy jumped roughly 12%, and that move tells us something important about where the AI boom is heading: the trade is broadening beyond the famous names.
In today’s Daily Read, Jeff Kikel looks at the “picks and shovels” behind the AI gold rush. NVIDIA and AMD may design the chips, but the AI ecosystem also needs manufacturers, testing equipment, connectivity—and enormous amounts of electricity.
That’s why companies involved in power and nuclear energy are increasingly becoming part of the AI infrastructure story.
Jeff breaks down why broader participation across the AI supply chain can be a healthy sign for the market, including strength in NVIDIA, AMD, Taiwan Semiconductor, Teradyne, Astera Labs and Constellation Energy. Daily Read #36
But there’s also a reason for caution.
As enthusiasm around AI reaches increasingly euphoric levels, discipline becomes even more important. One analyst went so far as to describe AI as the “greatest money-making opportunity in human history.” Jeff’s response is simple: the hotter the rhetoric, the tighter you hold your rules. Speaker:
Hello, everybody.
Speaker:
Welcome to another episode of The Daily Read here on Exit Rich, Retire Free.
Speaker:
Today is Tuesday, October 6th, and for once in the last couple weeks, we're
Speaker:
not gonna talk today about interest rates or oil or anything like that
Speaker:
because, quite frankly, I'm tired of talking about it, and there's
Speaker:
nothing we can do about it regardless.
Speaker:
We're gonna talk a little bit different today about some of the
Speaker:
other things going on in the world.
Speaker:
So let's get started.
Speaker:
So today, the hottest stock in the market today isn't a chip company,
Speaker:
and it isn't a software company.
Speaker:
It's a nuclear power company, Constellation Energy, up 12% today,
Speaker:
and that one fact tells you something about, important about this AI boom
Speaker:
that, that's actually flowing and where the next opportunities are hiding
Speaker:
Regime Lab is green across the board today.
Speaker:
The NASDAQ is hitting fresh record highs, and yes, oil and yields
Speaker:
are both eased today, which helps.
Speaker:
But that's not today's story.
Speaker:
Today's story is the AI trade broadening.
Speaker:
Look at who's leading.
Speaker:
Nvidia, record highs for the fifth straight day.
Speaker:
AMD up on a huge price target hike.
Speaker:
One analyst sees the chip market it serves tripling toward three billion dollars…
Speaker:
$300 billion by 2030 as AI demand explodes.
Speaker:
Tesla is higher.
Speaker:
Astera Labs up 5%.
Speaker:
And the standout, Constellation Energy, once again, a power company, is up 12.
Speaker:
When the leaders aren't just one famous chip maker who is the whole chain of
Speaker:
companies, that's telling you something
Speaker:
So here's the idea worth keeping, and it's an old one that keeps
Speaker:
paying off in every gold rush.
Speaker:
The people who get reliably rich weren't only the miners digging for gold.
Speaker:
Most times they weren't the miners digging for gold.
Speaker:
They were the ones selling the picks and shovels.
Speaker:
AI is the generation's gold rush, and today you can watch
Speaker:
the entire supply chain light up.
Speaker:
The chip designers, NVIDIA and AMD, the chip manufacturers, Taiwan Semi broke out.
Speaker:
The testers, Teradyne, the connectivity mag- or makers, Astera Labs, and the
Speaker:
one almost everybody forgets, power.
Speaker:
AI data centers are staggeringly electricity hungry, and that
Speaker:
demand has to come from somewhere.
Speaker:
That's why a nuclear operator like Constellation is
Speaker:
suddenly an AI stock, up 12%.
Speaker:
The lesson when a boom is this big, don't just stare at the one famous name.
Speaker:
Follow the chain of everyone who enables it, the shovel sellers.
Speaker:
That's where the fresh opportunity lives, and it's also how you
Speaker:
read whether the boom is real
Speaker:
So what does the breadth mean to you?
Speaker:
It's actually a bullish tell.
Speaker:
When the whole chain rallies together, chips and testers and power, the market
Speaker:
is saying it believes the AI demand is real, not just hype trapped in one stock.
Speaker:
That's healthier than a narrow one-name or five or six-name rally.
Speaker:
But one honest caution.
Speaker:
Today, an analyst literally called this the greatest money-making
Speaker:
opportunity in human history.
Speaker:
That always raises the hairs up on the back of my neck.
Speaker:
When you hear language that euphoric, treat it as a cue for discipline,
Speaker:
not a green light to pile in.
Speaker:
Participate in the broad leader but the hotter the meta- or the hotter the
Speaker:
rhetoric, the tighter you hold your rules
Speaker:
So what are we watching?
Speaker:
Watch the breadth.
Speaker:
As long as the AI supply chain keeps rallying together, chips, infrastructure,
Speaker:
power, the trade has a real ed- or engine.
Speaker:
Watch the power names especially.
Speaker:
Constellation and the nuclear plays are the newest tell on how
Speaker:
seriously the market takes AI scale.
Speaker:
And watch the laggards within tech.
Speaker:
Seagate and Western Digital fell again on competition news.
Speaker:
Even in a boom, a bad story still gets punished
Speaker:
So that's your daily read.
Speaker:
The hottest AI play today was a nuclear power company of all things because
Speaker:
real money in the gold rush is the picks and shovels, so follow the whole
Speaker:
chain, not just the famous names.
Speaker:
