Today is the first day of Spring! Also please let me explain the various temperature measurements around the NSW resorts

If you were out on the snow yesterday I’m sure you were feeling a little bit of joyous spring already, with mostly clear skies and warming temperatures through the day.

Today, there’s a small chance it might snow in the evening, and prior to that, things are still looking good. There will be moderate breezes at worst, and it looks to be partly cloudy - which also means partly sunny - so remember the sunscreen today! With these conditions I expect that most, if not all, lifts will be operating at all resorts.

So when i say temps as ‘the top of thredbo’ - that’ll be essentially the coldest it will get anywhere in thredbo, and similar to the top of the other resorts - not the same as they aren’t side by side - but they’re not that far away either. When I say temps at Perisher Valley, then it’s probably going to be colder on the hill as most of the runs are higher up. But it will also likely be warmer than that over in Thredbo village, as it’s another 300m lower down than Perisher Valley - again, different geography, but not really that far away as the crow flies.

BTW, the roads are clear to Perihser and Thredbo, carry chains but don’t expect to put them on.

As I mentioned, there’s a small chance of snow tonight and into tomorrow, but don’t hold your breath. I’m looking at the snow cams right now and seeing ‘mottled sun’ everywhere, so I’m sure you’ll have a very pleasant day today if you’re heading out.
