:But what really stood out
to me wasn't just the food.

:It was what the food was doing
for you, not to you, for you.

:And that is what I wanna break down
today, because let's be honest,

:you already know what to eat.

:Christine said it very well when she
said, you don't need another meal plan.

:You need to get to the root.

:You don't need the other meal plan.

:You don't need a list of
good foods and bad foods.

:So if you know what to do,
why aren't you doing it?

:because this isn't about food.

:This is about coping.

:For many people, food became comfort,
distraction, protecting, and numbing.

:I can remember as a little child,
when my parents would fight, I

:would grab a sleeve of Oreo cookies
and go hide in a drainage ditch.

:I know many, many people that get
anxious at a party and they go

:and they stand in the corner with
cookies or cake or whatever it

:is, just to avoid a confrontation.

:I know so many people
that just reach for food.

:So many of you that are listening.

:This started way before
you even realized it.

:These patterns are tied to way
deeper emotional experiences.

:But what we can do about it, maybe
just maybe instead of asking,

:why can't I stop eating this?

:Ask yourself, what is this helping
me avoid, feel, or cope with?

:Because that's where your power lies.

:So the next time you feel the urge,
not the hunger, the urge to eat, I

:want you to try something different.

:Four little steps.

:Number one, catch it.

:Pause and ask yourself,
what am I feeling right now?
