[00:00:53] Eric Goranson: design and construction week. Heading out here towards the end of the week. Jeez, another day, geesh. I'm not ready for that yet, but I [00:01:00] will be heading down there for.

[00:01:23] Eric Goranson: It's going to be a lot of fun. So for people who've never
[:
[00:01:35] Eric Goranson: So this is for trade only. So you have to be in the residential construction remodel.
[:
[00:02:02] Eric Goranson: You'll see HDTV, we'll do a couple specials on it because I always see their cameras around. We'll see the guys from this old house everybody's running through. Talking about the latest, coolest neatest stuff that they have. And so it's always great. It's usually, you know, this is the last year in Orlando.
[:
[00:02:39] Caroline Blazovsky: Cool. And so if you want to know what's going on, especially if you are in our field, that's the place to be.
[:
[00:02:54] Eric Goranson: yeah. I've got my own zone this year over in the west hall and that's kind of the main big hall [00:03:00] there. So I'll be up there in the, on the, on the home tech zone stage.
[:
[00:03:38] Eric Goranson: So lots of different stuff. And then we've got a big announcement to make. I'm going to be down there. On Wednesday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. So if you're going to be down there, come over and see me. I'm going to be doing around the house show taping in the Broan booth. And, uh, I'll be over there at a booth number w [00:04:00] 36 20 at 3 45 over there.

[00:04:10] Caroline Blazovsky: else you're going to be in another booth too, right?
[:
[00:04:27] Eric Goranson: They just don't want to have people having to go back and recall projects. You know, you'll see them build a house and six months later, or a year later, they're back there re caulking everything. Cause the caulking all cracked and started falling out and getting nasty, not these guys. So I'll be over there at 3 45 on Wednesday.

[00:04:54] Caroline Blazovsky: She brings them down. Like, you know, you'll do the show, but before, and after you play a little music, wouldn't that be

[00:05:00] Eric Goranson: Oh yeah. It's going to be fun. It's going to be fun. So looking forward

[00:05:45] Eric Goranson: He can start that the, oh, that's like Texas chainsaw massacre. I don't know, started its own. So it seems like a possibly a defective switch. So they want you to be careful with that. We're just repeat,

[00:06:05] Eric Goranson: got all the serial numbers, all the data that's boring radio.
[:
[00:06:28] Eric Goranson: Now, if you think about the era of that, that's a really light duty chainsaw, and you can get some great battery powered stuff without having to carry that cord around. So if you're going to have to swap it out, right,

[00:07:04] Caroline Blazovsky: Um, you know, I never used that. So to be honest with you, I'm not the chainsaw person, so I don't even know what it is. Um, I've got a bunch of them, but I don't I'm you don't want me behind a chainsaw. It's not a good. I guess I could, but

[00:07:20] Caroline Blazovsky: leave that to you guys. The big boy.
[:
[00:07:33] Eric Goranson: I mean, the safety gear is the big part of that. I mean, if you don't have the right stuff for that, you are going to be in trouble. So

[00:07:44] Caroline Blazovsky: just for it. They are like having 10
[:
[00:07:49] Eric Goranson: Yeah. It's not a, you know, it's not a bad thing. You gotta be careful. I'll tell you what, I'll tell you a funny story.
[:
[00:08:18] Eric Goranson: Video guy who's used to shooting movies. I mean, this is like Nike's alias team that I had. Cause it was just the beginning of the pandemic and people were at work and they're like, yeah, I'll come out. Nah, we'll come do it. We need to work. So I had, like, I had a team that was well above the pay grade over there that I got for a killer deal and family, you know, it's good having friends, family connections, but they came over and.

[00:09:04] Eric Goranson: With the chainsaw on some saw horses, cutting pieces of wood, so he can get the bottom shot of the chainsaw overhead. One of my buddies goes driving by calls. We lived in the NIGOs. I don't even want to know what's going on. Cause he couldn't see the Lex and drive by because it was clear. He just caught it and he's like, I couldn't see what was going on, but there's a guy laying on his back with a very expensive camera and you're cutting over his head right at him.

[00:09:50] Eric Goranson: Didn't look amazing from the streets. People were driving by
[:
[00:09:59] Eric Goranson: We like to [00:10:00] have fun, different,
[:
[00:10:07] Eric Goranson: there you go. That is awesome. That is, we have Carolyn, we got some great shows coming up here too. Oh, town's super excited for February and it's late.

[00:10:29] Eric Goranson: Well, it kind of, you know, from a guys per pest perspective, this is the time of year that guys tend to break up with their girlfriends because they don't wanna have to go buy something for Valentine's day.

[00:11:03] Eric Goranson: like, oh no, we got that going.
[:
[00:11:15] Caroline Blazovsky: Oh, my God he's so mean. Ladies sent him hate
[:
[00:11:22] Eric Goranson: Well, but this isn't for the guys out there. This is the traditional, you know, dating relationship. Is she gonna stay or is she going to go. And the dude has no idea that the girl was thinking the exact same thing. So that's the funny part. Oh my
[:
[00:11:52] Caroline Blazovsky: She came on the show and I like, after I spoke with her and Eric, you know, Eric interviewed her and we were talking with him. I'm just like, she gave me such [00:12:00] energy. I still think I have some of that key lean vibe. Like, don't you think? I mean, all of a sudden I went from being like, this is around the house now.

[00:12:11] Eric Goranson: Yeah. She's fun. She's so good for the trades out there. So we're going to get into a whole bunch of different stuff with that because that's a deep dive, you know, she was on HDTV actually, DIY network. And had her own show. She was in a competition to get that own show.
[:
[00:12:42] Caroline Blazovsky: architected, the stars he's worked on every famous person's home that you could imagine from Frank Sinatra to Cuba Gooding Jr.
[:
[00:12:55] Eric Goranson: And on Rupert Murdoch, he ran the list goes on and [00:13:00] on, you know?
[:
[00:13:06] Intro: you on mosque.
[:
[00:13:15] Eric Goranson: This is a whole twist on something that I think I've been talking with David about for probably two years. How do you hire an architect? When do you bring them on? At what point? How do they work with the builder? How to navigate that whole thing? It's a discussion that we've been. Bouncing around on for probably two years now, but it's finally happening.

[00:13:39] Caroline Blazovsky: And I think people are afraid. Like, anytime you hear the word architect, you feel like there's a money. Like all of a sudden the amount of money you're going to spend just went up like significantly.
[:
[00:13:52] Intro: yeah, that's a good analogy.
[:
[00:14:01] Caroline Blazovsky: Oh, you need a new tooth. It'll be $20,000. You need an architect. $50,000.
[:
[00:14:25] Eric Goranson: That you've not really heard of as a homeowner and contractors probably have a lot of you have, but, uh, for our homeowners out there, that's a whole new thing out there where you're like, what, I'm not going to have to call cause much. And these guys just have it down. I've got a box wood here. I'm going to play with a little bit more because I've actually never used their product and full disclosure.

For the, uh, Orlando, Florida for a little bit. So the smart thing is I have smart home technology so I can watch anything that's happening. We need

[00:15:28] Eric Goranson: She bring them to the show. So we're going to be, I'm putting them on my stage. So we're going to hook a deep Sentinel security thing up in my booth and run it. That is so I'm curious, this is going to be fun.

[00:15:49] Caroline Blazovsky: Stopping criminals, but I've wanted the system ever since I saw it. I mean, it just, this cool that someone live comes on and sort of looks at your video and addresses whoever's there and [00:16:00] it's kind of creepy and weird, but I kind of like it.

[00:16:11] Eric Goranson: Cause they put all the good ones over there for deep Sentinel. It's amazing. I just laugh at it cause it's like. People are so shocked when someone's yelling from the camera at them. And then it sends out. Crazy siren and they're freaking out and they're running away and it's just, it's awesome. So that'd be fun.

[00:16:32] Caroline Blazovsky: I'd be real intimidating. Who are you?

[00:16:39] Eric Goranson: Oh, I like your nails.

[00:16:50] Eric Goranson: I'm not going to go out of my machine.

[00:17:36] Eric Goranson: That's how new and fresh this says.

[00:18:30] Eric Goranson: going on like triple $5 head, $5 helmet. I said, actually,

[00:18:51] Eric Goranson: When I wrecked downhill racing on my mountain bike and. Dislocated my shoulder. And when that dislocated a broke [00:19:00] three ribs broke my collarbone. It shredded the entire side of my helmet. I drug my head behind a car for about eight blocks, just shredded the entire side of my helmet. And I'm like, you know, that thing saved my life.

[00:19:21] Caroline Blazovsky: should. I'm looking it up now. I don't have one, but this one looks pretty good. There's a couple that look really good. All right. You talked to me into it. I'll check it out. Here we go on to be a little fashionable though.
