At the recent White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health – Novo Nordisk committed $20M over the next three years in support of improving access to healthy foods and safe spaces for physical activity in under-resourced communities as well as addressing upstream barriers to reduce the burden of chronic disease. Given Novo's longstanding history in public health, they are collaborating with them on this commitment by doubling down on community-driven solutions to chronic disease prevention in rural communities of North Carolina with a focus on building education about and access to healthy food.

My guest are Kathy Higgins, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, is a national expert on health care and philanthropy, having previously served as the president and CEO of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation.  And Apu Patel, Director – US Corporate Sustainability and Social Impact.
