Speaker:

Hello everyone, its Dr.

Speaker:

Paula McDonald and this is podcast number 69.

Speaker:

And today we're going to talk about the top five toxic offenders in the things that you drink.

Speaker:

Well you guys, this series is truly an important topic and I know many of you are weary and quite frankly tired of hearing about how bad the food and drink that you are consuming is for you.

Speaker:

Well, we're now into the fourth show in this series of uncovering the toxics that are lurking in our foods, our products that we use on our skin, and today in the things that we drink.

Speaker:

And you guys, this topic is vital to understand, to uncover, and to unveil those things.

Speaker:

We have been led astray through false advertising, slick marketing, and by unscrupulous businesses that have agreed to dupe humanity.

Speaker:

It is time to wake up, retrain your habits and reclaim your health and your vitality for the drink industry.

Speaker:

It's huge business.

Speaker:

It's very profitable.

Speaker:

And millions are spent on packaging these drinks to be attractive and desirable.

Speaker:

But not so fast as most of these highly marketed drinks are teeming with unhealthy ingredients that not only harm you from the inside out, but they pack on the pounds that most of us don't want to be carrying around.

Speaker:

And not only do these sugar laden drinks provide you with empty calories, they also add to the ever increasing tooth decay department.

Speaker:

And sadly, this is also huge business.

Speaker:

We should not have the tooth decay problem in our country if it were not for the amazing amounts of sugars that we are being fed from the moment we are born.

Speaker:

So as we get into these top five toxic offenders in what you drink, I'm going to offer alternative things.

Speaker:

And I just want to remind you that we've talked about this before in other episodes, that God placed everything that we need here on this earth to nourish us properly.

Speaker:

But we must seek his guidance on each and every food choice and drinks that we allow to put into our bodies.

Speaker:

So we're going to start with offender number one, which is water.

Speaker:

Alright, I know I hear you saying what water is on this list? And the answer is, unfortunately yes.

Speaker:

God's beautiful creation of water has been desecrated through pollution and adding intentional chemicals such as fluoride and chlorine, and even in the plastic bottles that store the water.

Speaker:

Many of the plastic water bottles contain harmful toxins that are leached into the water.

Speaker:

And this is a really important point that many people don't know.

Speaker:

But if you keep your bottled water in your car during the hot summer months, you should not drink this water.

Speaker:

Even if it's cooled back down, you put it back in the refrigerator because after it has been sitting in the hot car, the heat actually really draws out the harmful chemicals from the plastic itself.

Speaker:

So after the bottle of water has been heated up, even placing it back in the refrigerator will not correct this.

Speaker:

So also think about the hot warehouses and the trucks that deliver them where most of these pallets of water are kept.

Speaker:

So what can you do regarding the water that you drink? Well, first find a way to filter your water.

Speaker:

There are all sorts of systems from very inexpensive to whole house systems that are extremely costly.

Speaker:

But first, know what is in your water.

Speaker:

If you are on a city or coop water system, they are required by law to provide anyone who asks for the latest water test to provide you with those results.

Speaker:

So get those results into your hands so that you have an understanding of what you are drinking and cooking with.

Speaker:

And knowing the types of heavy metals and toxins that are in your water can also help you determine what type of filters that you need to use.

Speaker:

I use a water filter and I actually have it on my website.

Speaker:

If you'd like that resource, go to Drpalamcdonald.com.

Speaker:

Under Resources and click on Congan Water and you can read all about it and watch some videos.

Speaker:

But next, a simple thing such as reducing the bottled water that you drink is key.

Speaker:

Use containers that are nonplastic and reusable.

Speaker:

Not only is this a better way to drink your water, but it's also better for our environment.

Speaker:

I know that you've all seen the pictures of the millions of water bottles filling up our oceans and landfills.

Speaker:

They are not pretty pictures.

Speaker:

So water, we know, is essential to life.

Speaker:

So it is essential that you take your water consumption very seriously.

Speaker:

And the bottom line here is to choose water that has been filtered and avoid the plastic containers when you can and avoid drinking from city water sources.

Speaker:

Okay, so that's offender number one.

Speaker:

Fender number two are the sodas.

Speaker:

And I spoke about this in our last podcast, but it's such an important topic that I felt I needed to include it again, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to get rid of these fizzy, chemical laden, sugar laden products from your life.

Speaker:

They are so loaded with sugars and artificial sweeteners and many, many chemicals that it actually blows your mind to read them all.

Speaker:

These drinks offer zero nutritional value while packing on the pounds in your body, decaying your teeth and affecting your overall health in a very negative manner.

Speaker:

And the soda industry was created to cause people to crave their product from the caffeine and the sugars.

Speaker:

Spend your money drinking our toxin while we rob you of your health should be their taglines.

Speaker:

But seriously, millions are spent seeking ways to get you to purchase these products and then get you hooked on these drinks.

Speaker:

Get them out of your homes and out of your life.

Speaker:

Make a decision today to say no.

Speaker:

And then stay determined to not spend your hard earned money on a product that in no way provide you with any nutritional value whatsoever.

Speaker:

Opt for organic teas, water with lemon or other fruits and fresh squeezed juices.

Speaker:

Just start avoiding the grocery store aisles that have these products on the shelves.

Speaker:

Not only will you begin to save a ton of money, but you will reap the health benefits of taking them out of your diet.

Speaker:

Okay, offender number three are the energy drinks.

Speaker:

Well, when these energy drinks came onto the scene, everyone thought, great, these are great ways for me to grab my source of energy, have clear thinking, and have better athletic prowess.

Speaker:

Well, again, not so fast.

Speaker:

Most of these energy drinks are so loaded with caffeine that some who have consumed them have heart palpitations.

Speaker:

And we've seen some deaths.

Speaker:

These drinks are not good at all.

Speaker:

The advertisers market these drinks to mostly the male population as a way for them to get more work in, have a better workout.

Speaker:

They're very manly.

Speaker:

They're really appealing to them.

Speaker:

And nope, these cans of socalled energy are anything but energy.

Speaker:

The surge of energy you feel when consuming these drinks is a false flag, you guys.

Speaker:

What you are experiencing is a surge from chemicals like caffeine and from the high amounts of sugar.

Speaker:

And while you may feel an immediate surge, your body is going to do what it must do to return itself to a balance called homeostasis.

Speaker:

So you have this huge dump of stimulants into your system and your body is smart, so it's got to go into overdrive, trying to get the body back into a balance.

Speaker:

And so what happens is there's an overcompensation of this fake energy to regulate your blood chemistry levels while also trying to rid the system of the huge amount of chemicals that you've just poured into it.

Speaker:

So talk about unnecessary work on your body systems such as your heart, your liver, your kidneys, all of them just had to get ramped up to deal with this big old dump that you just put into them.

Speaker:

And then guess what happens? You crash.

Speaker:

Then most people, oh, man, I got to have another one.

Speaker:

And so they grab another one and here we go again.

Speaker:

It all repeats itself.

Speaker:

And so the best way to obtain energy is by eating whole clean foods, keeping processed foods and refined sugars at a minimum and getting the proper rest that you need.

Speaker:

Artificial energy will never, ever replace good healthy habits.

Speaker:

And a great allnatural energy drink that can be created using some easily accessible ingredients is what you need to opt for green teas, all natural smoothies and juices and coconut water.

Speaker:

They are just a few of the things that you can drink and eat to get the energy that you need without all the other yuck.

Speaker:

Okay, offender number four.

Speaker:

Milk.

Speaker:

What? Milk.

Speaker:

Hello.

Speaker:

We all need milk.

Speaker:

Well, the milk industry has become a toxic soup in and of itself from unsanitary conditions for the cows that live in those situations, to the antibiotics they're fed and the growth hormones they have are all causing milk to be less than desirable.

Speaker:

And I am one of those people who loves milk.

Speaker:

I grew up drinking Ovalteen in my milk on a daily basis.

Speaker:

And it makes me sad that milk has become so toxic and so polluted.

Speaker:

And so today, with the information I have regarding milk, I myself have had to rethink where I purchased the milk that I'm going to drink and find out where it's produced.

Speaker:

And what I've learned is to find milk that is produced from smaller local farms.

Speaker:

And also seeking out milk in glass containers is far superior than the plastics because like the water in the water bottles, the plastic milk containers also leach these toxins and chemicals into the end product, which is the milk that you consume.

Speaker:

And what I love about the glass bottles is they actually take up less space in my refrigerator and most of them have a rebate.

Speaker:

So you get a couple of bucks back when you take the bottles back.

Speaker:

So it's a nice thing.

Speaker:

And I know I'm not adding to the landfill situation.

Speaker:

So seek out your local organic dairy farmers.

Speaker:

These small businesses need our support.

Speaker:

And finally, offender number five, koolaid powdered drinks and more.

Speaker:

And I remember loving koolaid when I was a kid.

Speaker:

The brightly colored packets mixed with icecold water and voila, we had a refreshing drink.

Speaker:

But unfortunately, that koolaid drink is loaded with mostly refined sugar and a whole lot of other unfortunate and unnecessary ingredients.

Speaker:

And these pretty drinks offer little more than empty calories and a whole lot of nothing.

Speaker:

Powdered drinks that you mix with the water are typically loaded also with additives and sugars.

Speaker:

Please check the ingredients of these powder mixes and keep them at a minimum.

Speaker:

Especially be looking for the hidden sucrose, but looking for the hidden artificial sweeteners.

Speaker:

They go by many names and they should not be given to anyone, especially children.

Speaker:

And in the last show we talked about the high fructose laden juices as these have little to no natural juice in them.

Speaker:

And the high fructose juices rot your teeth and they pack on the pounds.

Speaker:

So are you seeing a trend in all of these drinks that I've mentioned in this episode? Anything that is far from the way God intended for us are products that are just not kind to our systems.

Speaker:

And we know that cancer rates, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, autoimmune disorders, and so many more are soaring year by year.

Speaker:

Practically all of these diseases could be avoided by eating and drinking clean whole foods.

Speaker:

So we have to take these food and drink industries back and we must be wise consumers when we say no more and we demand a better product and we hit them where it hurts.

Speaker:

And that is their bottom line, which is their profit margin then.

Speaker:

And only then are we going to get their attention.

Speaker:

And the other important aspect is through education.

Speaker:

Just like this podcast, through grassroots efforts of sharing what we learn, we can make positive steps one at a time.

Speaker:

So in the next and final show on this series of the top five toxic offenders, we're going to end with the discussion of the top five toxic stinkin thinking.

Speaker:

And this means that what you fill your mind with absolutely affects every single cell in your body.

Speaker:

And we're going to dive into the habits that we can easily slip into that cause us to focus on the negative rather than on the positive.
