Kindness is the key to relationships.

I was always taught that business is built on relationships. Yet, somehow along the way, we lost graciousness and kindness towards one another. It seems that after years of long relationships, friends and families can wash away all great memories with one broad brush.

I imagine this amazing world that lives in the movie "Lars and the REAL girl." A young man Lars brings home this life-size doll and believes she is a real woman, his girlfriend. His community, family, town, and work all care about Lar and do not judge him but fully accept this new girlfriend completely into their community. Can you imagine that happening in your family or community, or workspace?

Why did they do this? They care about Lars. There was nothing sinister or wrong in Lars. He was a good and kind person, he was going through something, and his community realized that supporting him and showing him the kindness he always showed others was the best way to help him.

Can we do this for ourselves? Can we be unjudgemental to ourselves and those around us?

Isn't business about relationships as you treating yourself with the respect and kindness you deserve? Are you treating every person you come across with all the kindness they deserve? When we do this, we draw the people who think like us and treat others kind to us, and our community grows, and the kindness spreads. Imagine business built on kindness and respect. Not judging a person on a moment but their character and their consistency of behavior.
