Episode 28: From Doctrine to Divine Mother — A Spiritual Awakening

Content Note

This episode includes discussion of religious deconstruction, spiritual awakening, and shifting belief systems.

Episode Description

This week on The Awakening, Tamara and I sit down with Takisha Purcell, author of Understanding The Truth About God: Written in the Hearts of Men.

Takisha shares her story of growing up in a Christian home in Jamaica and the early foundations that shaped her understanding of God, faith, and identity. As her journey unfolded, she began to question those inherited beliefs, leading her into a deeply personal spiritual awakening.

What followed was a profound shift — one that moved her away from the traditional concept of a Divine Father and toward a connection with the Divine Mother.

We talk about what it means to trust your inner knowing, to follow a path that may not be understood by those around you, and the courage it takes to redefine spirituality on your own terms.

This conversation is expansive, thought-provoking, and an invitation to explore what truth feels like when it’s no longer handed to you — but discovered within.

Why This Episode Matters

For many, deconstruction doesn’t end with letting go — it opens the door to something entirely new. Takisha’s story reminds us that spirituality can evolve, expand, and take forms we may have never been taught to imagine.

There is no one right way to connect with the divine — and sometimes, the most honest path is the one you discover for yourself.
