11

::

Now on to the show.

12

::

In today's episode we'll practice a tree root

13

::

visualization that helps you ground yourself by connecting

14

::

to the earth beneath you and then outwards

15

::

as a foundation for being present.

16

::

You'll be able to do this visualization no

17

::

matter where you are or what you're doing.

18

::

So welcome to the Daily Reconnect.

19

::

I'm your host Jenda Hahn and this brief

20

::

episode will help you reconnect to the present

21

::

when you're feeling disconnected or dissociated from the

22

::

world.

23

::

Together we will re-engage with this wild

24

::

world, our bodies and our minds.

25

::

So let's reconnect with reality.

26

::

Today we're going to root ourselves to the

27

::

ground and notice what's going on around us

28

::

using visualization in order to reconnect with each

29

::

other.

30

::

You can choose to physically look at nature,

31

::

you can be within nature or you can

32

::

visualize it from wherever you are.

33

::

You can use whatever you have in your

34

::

space whether it's urban or indoors or you're

35

::

in the middle of a forest.

36

::

After this exercise we will get motivated to

37

::

start our day.

38

::

So take whatever works for you during this

39

::

exercise and throw away whatever doesn't.

40

::

Revise whatever you wish while you're going through

41

::

the steps.

42

::

You don't have to follow any of this

43

::

exactly.

44

::

I'm giving you permission to improvise right now.

45

::

For example if something doesn't work for you

46

::

just focus on the sound of my voice

47

::

and not the words or connect in your

48

::

own environment however fits best for you.

49

::

Take this moment for yourself to focus and

50

::

reset.

51

::

That's the most important thing for today.

52

::

So on to the exercise.

53

::

Take a moment to get comfortable whether you're

54

::

seated or standing or if you're walking find

55

::

a comfortable pace.

56

::

Begin by taking a deep breath in and

57

::

then slowly release it and allow your body

58

::

to settle.

59

::

If you're visualizing nature take a moment to

60

::

choose a place you know well.

61

::

If you're in nature perhaps on a walk

62

::

notice your environment.

63

::

Imagine or experience your feet making contact with

64

::

the earth beneath you.

65

::

Whether you're indoors or outside visualize the ground

66

::

below the floor below the building extending deep

67

::

into the soil.

68

::

Picture or look at your feet firmly planted

69

::

on the earth.

70

::

See the delicate roots beneath your feet connected

71

::

to you and to each other.

72

::

These roots begin as thin tendrils pushing gently

73

::

into the soil.

74

::

Feel them extending from the soles of your

75

::

feet reaching downward and then outward.

76

::

This is connecting you to a wide network

77

::

of roots extending under your feet to those

78

::

of your neighbors and those neighbors to their

79

::

neighbors.

80

::

As you breathe in think of your roots

81

::

growing stronger.

82

::

As you exhale those roots they push deeper

83

::

and outwards.

84

::

These roots are flexible yet strong anchoring you

85

::

to this present moment.

86

::

Now think or look at a giant majestic

87

::

tree.

88

::

Perhaps it's an evergreen, a giant fir tree,

89

::

or a sequoia tree.

90

::

Just as these large trees withstand changing weather,

91

::

changing times, changing climates, think of your root

92

::

system handling an emotional storm.

93

::

If you're feeling overwhelmed right now imagine your

94

::

roots growing especially deep and wide creating a

95

::

strong foundation for you.

96

::

During calmer times a spring day your roots

97

::

can gently pulse with each breath maintaining a

98

::

steady connection.

99

::

Now let's think about where you are right

100

::

now for real.

101

::

So now let's extend that awareness beyond and

102

::

outwards.

103

::

In forests trees communicate within a forest through

104

::

root networks and fungal helpers.

105

::

It's fascinating but a search for later on.

106

::

But right now let's imagine your roots working

107

::

with the root systems of others around you

108

::

creating a supportive community beneath the surface.

109

::

You remain distinct yet connected to something larger

110

::

than yourself.

111

::

And now let's briefly think of connecting with

112

::

our space wherever you are right now.

113

::

Think about someone or something that was in

114

::

that space before you something or someone that

115

::

isn't troubling.

116

::

It might be an ancestor, a family member,

117

::

a friend, a pet, a great walk you

118

::

took in the snow where you are right

119

::

now.

120

::

Or maybe it's an event that occurred in

121

::

that place or even a piece of furniture

122

::

that used to be there.

123

::

Now return your thoughts to the ground.

124

::

Your roots are reaching out beneath the ground

125

::

or the floor where you're standing or sitting

126

::

and those roots are connecting in that shared

127

::

space to that person, that thing, that event,

128

::

that pet, that big snow day.

129

::

Now take a moment to appreciate this dual

130

::

awareness, the now, the reality where you are

131

::

right now, and the past reality.

132

::

Those two realities are grounded and connected through

133

::

those roots.

134

::

When you're ready to conclude this visualization return

135

::

your awareness to your feet and the sensations

136

::

in your feet.

137

::

Move them around a bit.

138

::

Return your attention to the space that you're

139

::

in.

140

::

If you're visualizing somewhere else, return to where

141

::

you are right now.

142

::

And now let's return your attention back to

143

::

this moment.

144

::

So as we return to this day with

145

::

this renewed sense of presence, remember that the

146

::

clarity that you've just cultivated isn't just for

147

::

you alone.

148

::

It's a powerful tool that we can share.

149

::

In a world that often leaves us feeling

150

::

isolated and powerless, know this.

151

::

Your awakened presence matters.

152

::

When systems that can include exploitation and control

153

::

want us disconnected and afraid and isolated, simply

154

::

being fully present can become an act of

155

::

resistance.

156

::

You are not alone in your struggles or

157

::

your hopes.

158

::

So many others are coming to these same

159

::

realizations that together our collective energy can reshape

160

::

what might seem impossible at times.

161

::

So today carry this awareness with you, whether

162

::

it's reaching out to a neighbor or supporting

163

::

a local project or an online project or

164

::

simply sharing your authentic voice in a conversation.

165

::

These small acts create ripples that join our

166

::

roots with others in a much wider network,

167

::

a much wider reality.

168

::

Your worth isn't measured by your productivity or

169

::

what you consume.

170

::

Your power lies in connection to yourself, to

171

::

others, to the collective possibilities we can imagine

172

::

together.

173

::

So take one small action today that connects

174

::

you to something larger than yourself, even if

175

::

that action was what you just did there,

176

::

reconnecting with yourself, refreshing your drive or getting

177

::

healthier.

178

::

This is all how we build resilience and

179

::

resistance.

180

::

This is how we create change and this

181

::

is how we transform the systems that weren't

182

::

really designed for us to thrive.

183

::

You are present and you're powerful too and

184

::

you're part of something greater.

185

::

So that's it for today, Wednesday, March 5th.

186

::

Thank you so much for joining me here

187

::

today and let's connect again on Friday.

188

::
