Your love has given me great joy and encouragement because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord's people. Philemon, verses seven.

Your love has given me great joy and encouragement. Who can you point to in your life that their love has given you joy and encouragement?

in their actions, in their words, in them showing up to support you.

I have often been told that the way that I show up for people shows them love that they've never experienced in their life, acceptance that has been foreign to them, and encouragement that surpasses anything that they have ever experienced before in life.

In order to become this type of woman, in order to give this type of love and joy and encouragement, I first had to tap into...

Wesleyne (:

the woman inside of me that had been hurt, that had been abused, that had been made to feel like I was not worthy of this type of love that I didn't.

Wesleyne (:

that's... okay wait.

I wasn't worthy of this type of love. I had to work hard each and every day to overcome the words that.

Wesleyne (:

Sit here for a moment.

When you're in an abusive relationship, an abusive marriage, the physical scars, the physical pain, they hurt. And for some, they take a long time to heal.

those mental and emotional scars, those are deep seated. Those are the hardest to overcome because even though the abuser is no longer there, even though they're no longer able to hurt you, to say things to you, their words are in your brain going back and forth and back and forth. And when you do something that,

maybe you made a mistake, that person's words are right there in your head telling you that you're not good enough, telling you that you are selfish, telling you all of these things. And so you take those things on as your identity. And so for me, I had to work through all of the negative thought patterns and the negative thinking and all of those things that were...

not bringing me joy, that were not bringing me, giving me life. And once I tapped into God and I, every day I worked this muscle of re -framing my negative thought patterns. And once I've reframed them for myself, I was better able to reframe them for others. I was able to show up and fully give and share.

encouragement and joy and love with people because I myself was full of that joy, that love and that encouragement. And know that when we just say a simple word to someone, we are refreshing their hearts. Do you know what it feels like to be refreshed when you get a tall glass of water on a hot summer day and you're like, hmm.

Wesleyne (:

That was good, I needed that in my body, in my spirit, in my soul. That's what it feels to be refreshed in your flesh. That's the same refreshing that we can have for those around us, those that need to hear a kind word.

those that need to be refreshed. So today think about how you can give your love to encourage those around you. And remember people have trauma, people have weight, people have triggers, people have things in their lives that are weighing them down, their grief, their negative thinking.

their loneliness and you, yes you, can come alongside them and help them through difficult seasons.
