Courage Is Not the Absence of Fear

Courage is Not the Absence of Fear 2

Hello, my friend, and welcome to Wisdom-Trek! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your Guide to Wisdom and Creating a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us for our 5 days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast.

This is Day 683 of our trek, and it is time for our Philosophy Friday series. Each Friday we ponder some of the basic truths and mysteries of life and how they can impact us in creating our living legacy. Currently, we are focusing on how to live with less fear.

Since Paula and I will be traveling for business the last half of August, I will be recording all these podcasts in advance, so we will be substituting our regular podcast with short Wisdom Nugget episodes for three weeks. Next week we will return to our regular format.

This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today.  So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.

Today’s quote is from Ambrose Redmoon, and it is, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.”

Courage Is Not the Absence of Fear

Courage is Not the Absence of Fear 1

Courage in the face of fear is a choice that we make. Yes, all of us have fears in our life, and even if there is not a solid basis for our fears, they are real to us. The people who display courage also have very real fears, but have chosen to push through those fears because their desired outcome is more important than their fears. We can let fear chain us so that we are ineffective in life, or we can choose to break free from those chains of fear that bind us and move on. Even when the chains are broken, that does not eliminate the fears, but the fears no longer control our destiny. Choose courage in the face of fear.

Even Moses’s understudy after 40 years of training had to continually be reminded by God to have courage. Joshua 1:9 says, “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

That’s a wrap for today. Next FearLess Friday we will return to our longer segments as we dig deep into the subject to “Fear Not.” I know you will find these insights interesting and profitable in living a rich and satisfying life.

Our next trek is Mindshift Monday where we will help you live differently by thinking differently. So encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along on Monday for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
