I wanna make you more productive than you've ever been in your entire life.
Kasim:And I'm going to do that by offering you advice that was given
Kasim:to me by a buddy Steve Napolitano.
Kasim:Shout out to Steve.
Kasim:really brilliant entrepreneur.
Kasim:Absolutely worth watching.
Kasim:Steve gave me the best advice on task management I've ever been.
Kasim:was amazing.
Kasim:the key to this incidentally, is you need to make sure that your to-do list
Kasim:in your calendar are the same thing.
Kasim:So, That's not the advice.
Kasim:That's the precursor.
Kasim:Your to-do list is a list of things that you have to do.
Kasim:Your calendar is a list of things that you're gonna do.
Kasim:If your to-do list is not your calendar, then you have a recipe for absolute and
Kasim:complete total insanity, cuz you have all the things that you're gonna do, all the
Kasim:things that you need to do, and different.
Kasim:So turn your to-do list into your calendar.
Kasim:and when you do that, time blocking, by the way, is one of
Kasim:the most important things you can do from a productivity standpoint.
Kasim:But, once you have integrated that fully, that's step zero.
Kasim:Let's say you have everything that you're gonna do.
Kasim:You're gonna start asking yourself these questions.
Kasim:You're gonna ask yourself three questions in this order.
Kasim:Question number one, Can I eliminate this task, this task, this meeting, this to do
Kasim:this option, this person, You're not gonna kill people, but you know what I mean?
Kasim:Like, do I actually have to put up with this human?
Kasim:In the very beginning, the answer's always gonna be no.
Kasim:It's always, always, always gonna be.
Kasim:No.
Kasim:As a matter of fact, it's gonna be no.
Kasim:So often you're gonna think to yourself, I need to stop asking
Kasim:myself this particular question.
Kasim:There's nothing on here I can eliminate.
Kasim:I'm a smart person.
Kasim:I put things on my calendar for a reason.
Kasim:No, I can't eliminate The more sophisticated you get as an
Kasim:entrepreneur, the more you realize you can eliminate things.
Kasim:There's just stuff you don't have to do.
Kasim:You don't have to do that thing.
Kasim:And it's shocking when it dawns on you.
Kasim:And this is why I like keeping the question at the forefront of
Kasim:your mind, cuz you're gonna ask this and over and over and over
Kasim:and over and over and over again.
Kasim:And then one day you're gonna be like, you know what?
Kasim:Bye golly, I can.
Kasim:I don't have to make this call anymore.
Kasim:I don't have to attend this meeting any longer.
Kasim:I don't have to put up with this person.
Kasim:It's a really, really phenomenal litmus test too, by the way, for
Kasim:the things that frustrates you.
Kasim:Can I eliminate this?
Kasim:Do me the favor, because you're gonna be repelled by the concept every time you
Kasim:look at anything that's on your calendar.
Kasim:And ask yourself if if you can or should eliminate this.
Kasim:Just keep asking the question.
Kasim:And that alone plants the seed that starts to offer you permission to potentially
Kasim:eliminate something in the future.
Kasim:Can I eliminate this?
Kasim:It's number one.
Kasim:Question number two, can I automate this?
Kasim:Now, this gets a little bit more fun, and if you're good with automation,
Kasim:more dangerous to yourself than somebody who's never touched automation before.
Kasim:Here's what I'd encourage you to do with automation.
Kasim:Before you go play with Zappier or any of the AI driven tools,
Kasim:just go use Gmail's filters.
Kasim:What are the things that you're doing that you really shouldn't be doing
Kasim:that you could absolutely automate?
Kasim:Now, what's frustrating is automation, generally speaking, it takes two
Kasim:or three or four or five hours to automate a 15 minute task.
Kasim:So every single day of your life you're like, I'm just gonna do the
Kasim:15 minute task cause I don't have the two hours to automate this.
Kasim:But the moment you allow yourself the flexibility to automate that
Kasim:thing, well now I don't have to do that 15 minute task that I've done
Kasim:every single day for the last three and a half years cuz it's automated.
Kasim:So as you're doing tasks, as you're doing anything, if you're looking at your
Kasim:calendar, if you're looking at your task list, honestly, if the, in the middle
Kasim:of a, project, can I automate this?
Kasim:There's so much that we've automated.
Kasim:There's so many things that I've automated that other agency owners have
Kasim:told me, oh, that can't be automated.
Kasim:Client onboarding.
Kasim:I automated the whole damn thing.
Kasim:Start to finish.
Kasim:It's amazing.
Kasim:It, took or four different SaaS products.
Kasim:Shout out to Tify by the way, that really cracked the code for us.
Kasim:But we automated it.
Kasim:But start small, start simple Gmail filters.
Kasim:I love Gmail filters.
Kasim:You know, there's so many times where something comes in and I
Kasim:need to forward it to somebody.
Kasim:Or market is waiting on or whatever.
Kasim:Like there's just all these, if this, then that Routines.
Kasim:That are automatable, start with Gmail and then if you really wanna spend
Kasim:some time on something that would pay dividends, go play with Zapier.
Kasim:What I love about Zapier, you don't have to know how to
Kasim:code in order to use Zapier.
Kasim:it's all based off of the same concept though.
Kasim:It's, if this, then that.
Kasim:If this happens, then do this thing.
Kasim:And then when you get a little bit more advanced, if this, then that.
Kasim:Accept when it lets you get tangential.
Kasim:That's question number two.
Kasim:Can I automate this?
Kasim:And hopefully with more things than you were able to eliminate
Kasim:You start being able to automate.
Kasim:And then question number three, can I delegate this?
Kasim:This is my favorite question.
Kasim:Now, you only delegate if you can't eliminate and you can't automate.
Kasim:Because you don't want to give people BS work.
Kasim:My very strong opinion incidentally is if you're an entrepreneur, you should
Kasim:be able to eliminate automat or delegate every single task on your slate.
Kasim:If there's anything you are doing in your business that you can't
Kasim:delegate, you don't own a business, you own a job, and that means go
Kasim:hire somebody else that can do it.
Kasim:Go hire somebody else that can do the thing that you think you need to do.
Kasim:Your job is to have margin.
Kasim:Your job is to have space.
Kasim:Your job is to have excess so you can just sit around and think
Kasim:and build relationships and do the entrepreneurial stuff, which
Kasim:by the way is really hard job.
Kasim:You don't have to have a full calendar.
Kasim:You don't have to.
Kasim:So delegate everything.
Kasim:Delegate everything and Here's the other thing about entrepreneurs is
Kasim:we tend to suck at stuff, right?
Kasim:Go delegate to people that are amazing at the thing that you're gonna delegate.
Kasim:I've already talked to you about how to go hire peak performers, hire peak
Kasim:performers, and delegate to them.
Kasim:You should be doing nothing.
Kasim:You should be doing nothing.
Kasim:That's when you're gonna make the most money, is when you have the time and
Kasim:the margin and the space to really think and do nothing incidentally,
Kasim:We do a weekly newsletter and If you wanna subscribe, you
Kasim:can go to slate.com/newsletter.
Kasim:I'm also writing a Twitter thread every single day.
Kasim:So go hit me up on Twitter at casa and I'd love to know what
Kasim:your task management looks like or what pro tips you've figured out.
Kasim:You know, I learned this from a guy sitting in the green room at tnc.
Kasim:So maybe you have a couple of gold nuggets that are, change my life,
Kasim:hit me in the comments, let me know.
Kasim:Hey dude, pro tip, life hack.
Kasim:and it doesn't even have to be a process.
Kasim:Maybe use a software.
Kasim:Maybe you're like, man, ever since I've rolled out.
Kasim:This product, I'd love to hear it truly, deeply.
Kasim:You might find me doing another video on it.
Kasim:I'm just gonna steal your idea with love and hopefully with attribution.
Kasim:That's it.
Kasim:Appreciate y'all.
