Ep 05 - Gender equity in the Arab world: L'Oreal Unesco Awards for Women in Science

In 1909, Eugène Schueller, a young chemist with an entrepreneurial spirit, founded in France the company that was to become the L’Oréal Group. It all began with one of the first hair dyes that he formulated, manufactured and sold to Parisian hairdressers.

With this, the founder of the Group forged the first link in what is still the DNA of L'Oréal: research and innovation in the service of beauty.

Each year, the L'Oreal Foundation for women in science rewards the research of candidates from all over the world for their breakthrough research in all fields of science.

In this episode, Sophie invited 2 candidates of the latest edition of the L’Oreal -Unesco Women in Science awards, 2 highly accomplished scientists in pharmacology and in chemical engineering respectively from Qatar and the UAE.

They discuss their personal journey, the purpose of their research, and being a woman in science today in the GCC.
