“The thing that is causing you to worship money is the your shame around that money” - Wesleyne

Psalms 119:36 to 39:

Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money! Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word. Reassure me of your promise, made to those who fear you. Help me abandon my shameful ways; for your regulations are good.

This verse conveys a heartfelt plea from the psalmist to God, asking for guidance and alignment in his values and desires. The psalmist is acutely aware of the distractions and temptations of worldly pursuits and recognizes that these can lead the heart away from God's statutes. The term "selfish gain" suggests material or personal pursuits that are inconsistent with divine principles. Additionally, the desire to turn eyes away from "worthless things" further emphasizes this longing for purity and to be free from the allure of fleeting and unimportant distractions.

Today, you will learn about the importance of seeking alignment with Godly principles and values in your daily life. The psalmist demonstrates a keen awareness of human tendencies to be drawn to superficial and selfish pursuits, highlighting the universal struggle between spiritual values and worldly temptations. The plea to not be put to shame by holding fast to God's promises underscores the security and fulfillment that come from staying true to Godly principles. In essence, this passage teaches the profound lesson of self-awareness in spiritual journeys, recognizing your weaknesses, and earnestly seeking God's guidance to stay true to a righteous path.
