A Very Small Universe – Daily Wisdom

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1748 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget. Today’s quote is from John Glenn, and it is, "A life spent centering only on itself will, in the end, occupy a very, very small universe."

A Very Small Universe

When we are wrapped up in ourselves and focused only on our needs and desires, our world or our universe will be a tiny one. However, when we expand our horizons, participate in activities that allow us to grow, and push outside our comfort zone, we will become more than we currently are today. This growth process of assisting others and focusing on their needs allows us to expand exponentially.  And the more we develop ourselves and help others grow, the more we will learn and the larger our universe will become. We were not created to be an island unto ourselves but in loving relationship with God and fellow imagers of God. It is then we can fulfill our God-given destiny utilizing all our God-given talents and abilities. So, grow yourself, and help others to grow also. 2 Peter 1:3-10 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
