There is still a great big musical gap left behind by Kirsty MacColl, we lost her far too young. I had always been aware of her, but it was only when the album Tropical Brainstorm was released in 2000 that I really began to 'get it'.

Blessed with a gift for songwriting and a take on the world that seemed quirky at first glance, but on closer inspection resonated with openness and candour.

Bizarrely it's a story about Crocs that brought me here, I was looking for a song that referenced feet or shoes or walking and I remembered 'in these shoes'.

Of course that set me off, and forty minutes later I am still listening to clips of Kirstys songs on Youtube. Which means I need to include another one of my favourites, penned by KM and delivered exquisitely by Eddi Reader at a celebration for Kirsty from 2010
