[0:00] Hello, this is Sky. You're hearing my own voice, and I'll be here with you until sleep. You don't need to listen closely. You can drift off whenever you like. There's nothing to get right tonight. For now, just let yourself be held by the sound of my voice. Let's begin. If this podcast has been keeping you company at night and you'd like to support me directly, membership is a beautiful way to do that it includes ad-free listening and exclusive sleep stories, and it helps me continue sharing these calm little spaces with you we already have three episodes in there. The link is in the description.
[1:28] Wherever you are tonight, whether you've already tucked beneath the blankets, or perhaps you're still finding a comfortable position, I invite you to know that nothing is expected of you here. You don't need to follow every word. You don't need to stay awake, you don't need to travel anywhere except in whatever gentle way your own body chooses, for a little while I'll simply keep you company and maybe as the minutes unfold, sleep may begin to find you in its own quiet time, imagine if it feels comfortable that we're standing once again at the entrance of the old manor house, it welcomes us just as it always has.
[2:51] Not with grand gestures not with excitement simply with the familiar feeling, that we've been expected, the great wooden door rests slightly open, warm light spills softly across the stone steps.
[3:24] Perhaps you notice how different the house feels each time we return. Not because the house changes. Maybe because we do. Every visit brings another version of ourselves. Some evenings we arrive feeling peaceful, some evenings carry busy thoughts, sometimes we arrive with a body that feels heavy.
[4:14] Other times with a mind that still seems to be running through the day. Whatever has accompanied you here tonight is welcome. Nothing needs to be left outside. And perhaps that's one of the gentle gifts of this place. Everything belongs. As you step across the threshold, your footsteps become quieter. The entrance hall is calm. The air carries that familiar scent of polished oak, old books, beeswax candles, and something difficult to name.
[5:20] Perhaps time itself has a fragrance. If it does maybe this is how it smells not old simply well loved, we pause here for a moment, not because we need to simply because pauses have their own kind of kindness. And while we stand together, perhaps you become aware of your breathing. Not changing it, not improving it.
[6:14] Just allowing yourself to notice that breathing is already happening. Your body has remembered this all day, without asking, without effort, without needing your attention. Maybe your shoulders soften a fraction. Or maybe they don't. Either is perfectly welcome. Ahead of us stretches the long central corridor. We've wandered these hallways together before. Perhaps you remember passing the library, music room, the greenhouse, house, each room holding its own atmosphere, its own rhythm. Tonight, we're heading somewhere a little different, a room that isn't filled with music.
[7:34] Or growing things. Instead, it's filled with journeys. Journeys that have already happened. Journeys imagined. Journeys that perhaps never took place except inside someone's heart. We begin walking. our footsteps make almost no sound upon the thick runner that stretches along the hallway, tall windows look out across the gardens, the evening sky has deepened into soft blues, perhaps the last birds are settling into trees, maybe somewhere beyond the gardens an owl has already begun its quiet work, the house seems to breathe alongside the night.
[8:55] Nothing hurried, nothing demanding. Simply settling.
[9:08] As we walk, paintings line the walls, not portraits, landscapes, wide valleys, rolling hills, coastlines disappearing into mist, mountain passes, gentle rivers winding through the forest. You don't need to study them. You might simply let them pass by like scenery, viewed from a slow moving train.
[9:55] Each one disappearing without needing to hold on to any of them. Eventually, the corridor bends. A narrow hallway appears. It feels quieter here, almost hidden. The ceiling lowers slightly. Small lamps cast pools of amber light against the walls. At the very end waits an old oak door.
