I have a secret for you.
There is no such thing as an aspiring author.
It’s just author. Full stop.
You are an author.
Your aren't becoming something, trying to be something, you just are.
I am about to breakdown the identify shift you need to step into your author era.
Let’s get started.
Hello Friend, I am Deepika Sandhu the CEO of Soul Sparks Press and much like many of you out there I used to qualify myself as an author by saying i was aspiring to be one.
Like I needed permission to be one.
Or needed some unique qualification that I didn’t have.
I even thought I needed someone’s approval to say I was actually an author.
None of that was true.
You don’t need a physical published book in your hands to be an author.
You get to step into your author identity right now.
And here is how I want you to do it.
I want to do a quick visualization. So if you are in a space where you can close your eyes and tune into my words, please do and if you are listening to me while driving or cooking or gardening, I just want you to allow these words to really land - but keep your eyes open please.
Imagine - walking into the book store, NY times bestseller, someone asking for you to sign your book. I read your book
What would that feel like?
How that be in your body?
That feeling or sensation that is active within you as I describe your book, is the energy I want you to be in every day when you write 1 paragraph or 10 pages, starting your book and the day that you finish.
Because when you are in the embodiment of being an author, that will become your reality.
If you treat it like an aspiration, it will stay an aspiration.
And we want to bring that author into the here and now.
So no more aspiring author, I now pronounce you an author!
But for you to believe it, I want you to try this:
This is a great journaling exercise but if you aren’t a journaler then you can just sit with this and see what comes up for you.
Describe your book as if it is already published and impacted thousands. What would you say? How would it feel?
Sit with these feelings - the visualizaion of your book on a shelf, a reader asking you to sign a book and whatever came up for you as you write about the impact your book will have.
And know this. It isn’t somewhere out there. This book is here now.
Now that you made the shift let’s make this book a reality.
