David Spoon:

Hello, everybody.

David Spoon:

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day when it's cold outside I've got the month of May.

David Spoon:

Here's what's coming up on today's experience.

David Spoon:

It's Dr.

David Spoon:

Dave's devotional Diamonds of the Day, also known as DDDs, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.

David Spoon:

Sound effects placed throughout the show, which have nothing to do with life.

David Spoon:

But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh, and I'm feeling like I'm in a good laughing mood.

David Spoon:

The review of the goofiness, which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.

David Spoon:

And we hope before this introduction is over, life lessons for our faith that we can actually use probably won't.

David Spoon:

If we sit on our blessed assurance that's not a good idea.

David Spoon:

Humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

David Spoon:

Because they wouldn't let me be a park ranger at Jellystone Park.

David Spoon:

They said, nope, you're too much of a boo boo.

David Spoon:

Not gonna happen.

David Spoon:

Additionally, also, and on top of that, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.

David Spoon:

Living this life, not always easy running in.

David Spoon:

Oh, El Capitan.

David Spoon:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience, local, national and heavenly talk.

David Spoon:

My name is Dr.

David Spoon:

David Spoon, and I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.

David Spoon:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

David Spoon:

Here is the key to the show.

David Spoon:

We don't know what we're doing.

David Spoon:

We have no idea what's going to happen, and we don't care.

David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I want to talk faith with you.

David Spoon:

So here we go.

David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian, that thing.

David Spoon:

And this is the question we ask.

David Spoon:

And because we have phones that work, hallelujah.

David Spoon:

We are offering up to you.

David Spoon:

What can our prayer warriors pray for you about?

David Spoon:

Now, when you were thinking prayer warriors, you're thinking, there are people all over the studio that are just on their hands and knees in the corners of the buildings praying.

David Spoon:

And it's like, wrong.

David Spoon:

The people that listen to this show, the people that participate, the people that are listening, even if they don't call in, if they don't text in, if they don't email in, they are the prayer warriors.

David Spoon:

In fact, you are the prayer warriors.

David Spoon:

And so we're asking, hey, what can we all pray for you about.

David Spoon:

That's what we're trying to do.

David Spoon:

How can we help you by connecting in the power of prayer.

David Spoon:

What can we do to be a blessing by praying for you?

David Spoon:

It's a pretty straightforward question.

David Spoon:

If you need prayer, we are here.

David Spoon:

If you have, by the way, an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question.

David Spoon:

Now, we don't want that to die of loneliness.

David Spoon:

All you gotta do get ready is reach out and give us a call.

David Spoon:

Hallelujah.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Talking of Jammin Jacob is like heading into the week with great faith and expectation.

David Spoon:

Thank you, David.

David Spoon:

Happy Monday.

David Spoon:

Happy Monday.

David Spoon:

The phones are working again.

David Spoon:

Monday.

David Spoon:

We always like that.

David Spoon:

We're just gonna double check to make sure they're working.

David Spoon:

I'm just gonna look right at Jacob while he picks the phone up and looks at me.

David Spoon:

Do they in fact wait?

David Spoon:

He's on the phone.

David Spoon:

So I guess they're working.

David Spoon:

Bottom line to that whole process is simply this.

David Spoon:

We had the phones out for a couple days.

David Spoon:

That's okay.

David Spoon:

You think, well, that stuff is that irritating.

David Spoon:

It's frustrating.

David Spoon:

There's so many things in life that are irritating and frustrating.

David Spoon:

Take a deep breath.

David Spoon:

Jesus is coming soon.

David Spoon:

That's all you gotta know.

David Spoon:

Jesus is coming soon.

David Spoon:

What else do you need?

David Spoon:

Jesus is coming soon.

David Spoon:

Hallelujah.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

All right, so the bottom line there is you can call us because the phone does work.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

You can also text and we encourage that.

David Spoon:

We think that's awesome.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

A little slower for those that need it.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

Additionally, you can send us an email.

David Spoon:

David must increase.org D A V I D.

David Spoon:

That's my name with a circle.

David Spoon:

He must increase from John 3:30.

David Spoon:

He must increase.

David Spoon:

I must decrease dot org.

David Spoon:

We're a nonprofit corporation.

David Spoon:

It's pretty simple.

David Spoon:

You can call us, you can text us, you can email us.

David Spoon:

Now, I do gotta let Jacob know that if you are getting calls, they are not showing up on my little board this time.

David Spoon:

So you will have to wave your hand to tell me if there's a phone call.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

So I don't know if There is one or is one?

David Spoon:

You tell me.

David Spoon:

I can't tell.

David Spoon:

Okay, Got that?

David Spoon:

All right, you got to go.

David Spoon:

Phone call.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Is there a phone call?

David Spoon:

There is.

David Spoon:

See?

David Spoon:

See, that's why I'm bringing that up to you, because I'm not seeing it here.

David Spoon:

Well, let's do this.

David Spoon:

Let's have the first person send them on through.

David Spoon:

Knock, knock.

David Spoon:

This is David.

David Spoon:

Who am I talking to?

John:

Hello, this is John.

David Spoon:

Hi, John.

David Spoon:

How are you?

John:

Hey, I'm great.

John:

Say, I wanted to request prayer for my daughter who had a heart attack last week.

David Spoon:

Oh, my goodness, John.

David Spoon:

Oh, my.

David Spoon:

How.

David Spoon:

What's her.

David Spoon:

What's her current condition?

David Spoon:

Is she in ER where she right now?

John:

She had some stents put in her area, upper area, heart area.

John:

And she's at home and doing well.

John:

But of course, her blood flow is only about 30% right now.

David Spoon:

All right, we should pray for that right now, John.

David Spoon:

So I'm going to pray for your daughter.

David Spoon:

Is that good?

David Spoon:

You ready?

John:

Yes.

David Spoon:

Let's do it.

David Spoon:

Let's do it.

David Spoon:

Father, we come before you right now.

David Spoon:

We thank you for John.

David Spoon:

We thank you for any father who's got that going on, Lord, I already know as a dad and as a granddad, it's just tough.

David Spoon:

And then if it's tough for us, Lord, and you look at us and sometimes you weep for us, Lord, we see that in your word, and so we are just lifting up.

David Spoon:

John, first of all, we're thankful that his daughter is with us.

David Spoon:

We are just praising your name for keeping her.

David Spoon:

But, Lord, she needs work.

David Spoon:

She needs touch.

David Spoon:

She needs the touch of the Holy Spirit that comes through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

She needs her body and her whole mechanism to work.

David Spoon:

And we are asking you to bring her blood flow up and increase her and strengthen her and bring healing into her and let her know and John know, hey, this is by the hand of God.

David Spoon:

Not just regular, but in a expedient fashion.

David Spoon:

Lord, bring your healing power into her life.

David Spoon:

Cover her, cast out any spirit of fear and discouragement that's come, and bring in a great sense of hope and comfort that come from you because you are the God of hope and the God of comfort.

David Spoon:

Bless this family and keep them in the palm of your hand.

David Spoon:

We pray in Jesus name.

David Spoon:

Amen and amen.

John:

Thank you very much.

David Spoon:

You are welcome, my brother.

David Spoon:

God bless you and keep us posted and we will keep praying.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

Bye.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

So that's what we do.

David Spoon:

We pray for one another.

David Spoon:

Why?

David Spoon:

Well, that's pretty simple.

David Spoon:

The Scriptures are clear that we're supposed to carry one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

David Spoon:

Galatians, chapter 6, verse 2.

David Spoon:

And that's a big deal because when you care for one another and carry one another, you're doing what Jesus said.

David Spoon:

What were the commandments?

David Spoon:

Everybody's like, oh, the two commandments.

David Spoon:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

But Jesus said, I have a new commandment for you.

David Spoon:

Love one another as I have loved you.

David Spoon:

That's a whole nother level in regards to loving people.

David Spoon:

And so we need to love people the way that the Lord has designed us to do that.

David Spoon:

So that's what we do.

David Spoon:

Sort of start off with some prayer.

David Spoon:

We're going to be praying for a few other people in a little bit.

David Spoon:

But if you've got something you need prayer for, you got a situation.

David Spoon:

It's not just health.

David Spoon:

It can be finances, it could be situation, it could be relationship oriented.

David Spoon:

It doesn't matter.

David Spoon:

Because God helps everybody in everything.

David Spoon:

He's not going to help you sin, you know, don't be silly.

David Spoon:

But he's going to help you bring comfort, bring deliverance, bring peace.

David Spoon:

And that's what we need.

David Spoon:

And so we're just encouraging you.

David Spoon:

Look, whether you want to call us, whether you want to text us.

David Spoon:

Some people like the texting.

David Spoon:

Do it, that's fine.

David Spoon:

I get it.

David Spoon:

It's right here in front of me.

David Spoon:

Some people like the email right in front of me.

David Spoon:

I got it, I got it going on.

David Spoon:

And we will pray.

David Spoon:

Or if you've got something else, it doesn't have to be just prayer requests.

David Spoon:

It could be a praise report maybe of something taking place.

David Spoon:

And you're like, the Lord did this for me this weekend.

David Spoon:

And you're just like, I just am blessed.

David Spoon:

Share it.

David Spoon:

That will encourage other people.

David Spoon:

It will honor the Lord and it will strengthen it in your own life.

David Spoon:

Maybe you got a scripture, something's on your mind and heart.

David Spoon:

Now that we're through the election, of course, we're not through anything.

David Spoon:

Most people know that.

David Spoon:

But the bottom line is we can pull back a please, please, by all means, pull back a little.

David Spoon:

And then just take a deeper breath.

David Spoon:

Still recognizing Daniel 2, 21, God sets up one and puts down another.

David Spoon:

It's up to the Lord.

David Spoon:

Everybody thinks it's us voting.

David Spoon:

Sure it is.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

God's going to let the most powerful person.

David Spoon:

Yeah, sure.

David Spoon:

Anyway, I'll just leave that there and my encouragement to you is simply this.

David Spoon:

You can be a praise reporter, prayer request.

David Spoon:

We are not against politics.

David Spoon:

We are for you drawing closer to the Lord.

David Spoon:

Why?

David Spoon:

Because if you draw closer to the Lord, you'll have a better life, no matter what's going on around you.

David Spoon:

You, period.

David Spoon:

End of story.

David Spoon:

Nothing else to be said.

David Spoon:

And so we feel that's very important.

David Spoon:

We are going to take this moment, though, to give a big hallelujah and thank you for all of our veterans.

David Spoon:

No way that's going to get missed.

David Spoon:

Veterans Day and the people that have served in the armed forces have been willing to lay down their lives for the sake of friends, people they don't even know, for the sake of their country, willing to give up a part of themselves.

David Spoon:

Some people.

David Spoon:

That's what Memorial Day is for, those that actually did give up their lives.

David Spoon:

But everybody and anybody and Veterans Day who served in the armed forces, we have a big fat thank you so very much to give you.

David Spoon:

And we cannot give you enough of a clap offering.

David Spoon:

I really like what our church.

David Spoon:

So Noah and I attended a church he hadn't been to, this one that I checked out.

David Spoon:

We went to the church and they did something really, really cool.

David Spoon:

I mean, really cool.

David Spoon:

And that is they did an extended clap thing where you know how they say thank you and everybody, it was just great.

David Spoon:

The people clapped for minutes and minutes, long time.

David Spoon:

And it was us, our way of telling them thank you.

David Spoon:

And if you are a veteran in any way, shape or form, we say from the depth of our heart.

David Spoon:

Thank you at every level.

David Spoon:

Thank you for what you've done.

David Spoon:

We bless you.

David Spoon:

In fact, let's pray, Father, we just thank you and praise you for all these people that have offered their lives up, put their lives on the line, put themselves in situations.

David Spoon:

They didn't even know what they might even be in, but they did it willingly to sacrifice of themselves.

David Spoon:

These are our veterans, Lord.

David Spoon:

These are our people for this nation that have done that.

David Spoon:

And we ask you to bless them and that they would know the appreciation, the actual appreciation that people have for them.

David Spoon:

We ask you to pour a blessing into their lives.

David Spoon:

Not just this day, but this is the day we acknowledge and we thank you for having these people sent into our universe, our worlds.

David Spoon:

Thank you for their love and for their commitment.

David Spoon:

We ask you to bless them in Jesus name.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

And amen.

David Spoon:

Okay, so I am pretty happy that the phones are working if you guys haven't figured that out.

David Spoon:

I also want to give props to our very own Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

We got through in Another chapter today.

David Spoon:

Got in a little bit early.

David Spoon:

We are about 47% done on the book already, which has only been four, what, four or five sessions?

David Spoon:

Like five or four.

David Spoon:

Not that many, right?

David Spoon:

I think we've done four.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

So we're already almost halfway done.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

And last time this took us three and a half months.

David Spoon:

This time it'll take us a month.

David Spoon:

And it's like, that's a substantially big difference.

David Spoon:

So very, very thankful.

David Spoon:

I'll give you all that information.

David Spoon:

Fourth coming, and so on and so forth.

David Spoon:

The other thing, I do want to make sure everybody knows and we will be praying for other people later.

David Spoon:

So don't think we're done praying or anything, but we're going to get into our teaching.

David Spoon:

We're in Titus.

David Spoon:

There's some cool stuff I want to get to, but I do want to encourage people and will encourage you all week long.

David Spoon:

stry and have gotten a large $:

David Spoon:

So I'm just going to tell you that up ahead of time.

David Spoon:

And we've got that need hammering in on us.

David Spoon:

So if the Lord puts it on your heart, please give.

David Spoon:

That's always important.

David Spoon:

I hate asking you, but I hate not obeying the Lord more.

David Spoon:

And if you give, we appreciate it.

David Spoon:

If you can't give, but just pray for us.

David Spoon:

People try to guilt people.

David Spoon:

I don't want anybody to give one cent out of you give because the Lord puts it on your heart.

David Spoon:

I want it to be a providence situation.

David Spoon:

And if you're one of those people that's like, I wish I could give.

David Spoon:

We just don't have the money.

David Spoon:

God bless you.

David Spoon:

Keep praying for us.

David Spoon:

That's what we need.

David Spoon:

Prayer will get her done.

David Spoon:

Okay, cool.

David Spoon:

Titus, probably not breaking today.

David Spoon:

I could just tell you that right now.

David Spoon:

Titus, we are in chapter one.

David Spoon:

We are at verse four, Titus.

David Spoon:

Paul says in verse four to Titus, my true son, in the common faith, grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

David Spoon:

The reason I left you in Crete was to set right what was left undone.

David Spoon:

And as I directed you to appoint elders in every town.

David Spoon:

So we started in Titus.

David Spoon:

This is our third jump back into the Book of Titus.

David Spoon:

For those that don't know, we're doing eight different books on this show.

David Spoon:

We do, you know, pretty much we do a lot of expository, plus we do topical.

David Spoon:

Plus we do expository and topical.

David Spoon:

We teach it from all different ranges because that's kind of like how we operate for Those that are new to the show.

David Spoon:

I'm a Baptistal.

David Spoon:

It'll just help you.

David Spoon:

I have a Baptist ordination and a Pentecostal ordination.

David Spoon:

I have a Baptist doctorate and I have a Pentecostal master's.

David Spoon:

And I was born and raised Jewish.

David Spoon:

And I just love Jesus.

David Spoon:

And that's what we should all be doing.

David Spoon:

So Titus 1:4.

David Spoon:

He's writing to another one of his young proteges.

David Spoon:

He tells Titus he's the Son in the common faith.

David Spoon:

Now, that means either Paul was involved in the initial or the ongoing process of Titus salvation.

David Spoon:

At some point, Paul entered the picture.

David Spoon:

It could have been that he brought him in.

David Spoon:

It could have been that he's training him as a spiritual father in any way, shape or form.

David Spoon:

That's okay, as always.

David Spoon:

And in all of Paul's letters, he starts off with grace and peace to be given to the recipients of the letters.

David Spoon:

And here's a big thing about grace and peace that people don't seem to realize.

David Spoon:

And in many ways you can say it's the shalom of the day, right?

David Spoon:

Shalom is hello, goodbye, and peace be unto you.

David Spoon:

Peace be unto you, period.

David Spoon:

Peace be unto you in arriving, peace be unto you when you depart.

David Spoon:

And one of the reasons that these kind of greetings is actually more important than you think is simply this.

David Spoon:

The world operates in being stressed out.

David Spoon:

It's not new.

David Spoon:

It's a 21st century phenomena.

David Spoon:

No, it's not.

David Spoon:

It's a thousands and thousands and thousands of years ago phenomena that in the world, because of the enemy, because of the world, because of people that are choosing to live by the power of sin and being influenced by sin and by Satan and people operating in their flesh because of these things.

David Spoon:

There's a lot of stress.

David Spoon:

In fact, one of the reasons that people look forward to the second coming of Jesus Christ, and let's be honest about it, is guess what?

David Spoon:

We're done.

David Spoon:

And you think we're done with what?

David Spoon:

It doesn't say that.

David Spoon:

We're done doing anything.

David Spoon:

We're done with the fear.

David Spoon:

We're done with the doubt.

David Spoon:

We're done with the stress.

David Spoon:

We're done with the anxiety.

David Spoon:

We're done with the frustration.

David Spoon:

We're done with the darkness.

David Spoon:

So Paul, just like, look, man, we just want to make sure you catch this grace and peace from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Lord.

David Spoon:

And just so you can know this phrase grace and peace, this is not a positional grace and peace.

David Spoon:

This is a functional, practical grace and peace.

David Spoon:

And what do I mean by that?

David Spoon:

It Means that this grace and this peace are not talking about you being saved.

David Spoon:

They're talking about God granting you grace and peace as you are walking this planet because you are already a part of his kingdom.

David Spoon:

And you're going to have.

David Spoon:

You have peace with God through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

And you had grace, which initiated the opportunity for you to get saved, because it's a gift from God.

David Spoon:

But these are situationals, and there is grace and there is peace for your circumstance, not just for your position with the Lord, but with the practical sense.

David Spoon:

There is peace for you from God.

David Spoon:

How about that?

David Spoon:

You got a situation that's kind of getting a little overwhelming, kind of getting past you.

David Spoon:

I got that going on right now.

David Spoon:

I already told you, we got financial things.

David Spoon:

I am focusing on the Lord.

David Spoon:

I wasn't even going to share it.

David Spoon:

And I just felt like the Lord was like, that's not right.

David Spoon:

Don't do that.

David Spoon:

So it's like, okay.

David Spoon:

And so then I get in that.

David Spoon:

But then I have to remember and operate and keep my eyes focused on the Lord and remember that in my circumstance, there is grace, which is unmerited favor.

David Spoon:

He's gonna get me out of it.

David Spoon:

I won't deserve it.

David Spoon:

And there is peace.

David Spoon:

And the thing I love about peace the most, by the way, very closely connected to the word Noah, whose name was rest.

David Spoon:

But here's the thing I love the most about peace, and that is it makes the winds and the waves die down between my left and right ear.

David Spoon:

How about that?

David Spoon:

Isn't that amazing?

David Spoon:

A calm.

David Spoon:

I was just reading in the book today, because that's the book, the faith that pleases God that we're putting on audio, how that Jesus, the disciples were in the boat and the boat was getting hammered by wind and by waves when Jesus got in the boat with them.

David Spoon:

This is after the Peter walking the water thing.

David Spoon:

But when Jesus got into the boat, the Bible says that the winds died down, the waves stopped.

David Spoon:

When Jesus gets in your boat, man, it's over.

David Spoon:

Calm and peace.

David Spoon:

Take it easy.

David Spoon:

Take a deep breath.

David Spoon:

The king of the universe is here.

David Spoon:

Isn't that cool?

David Spoon:

I mean, that's cool.

David Spoon:

Come on.

David Spoon:

So then Paul says this, verse five, the reason I left you in Crete was to set right what was left undone.

David Spoon:

And as I directed you to appoint elders in every town.

David Spoon:

So verse five gives us the reason for the writing.

David Spoon:

Paul's right.

David Spoon:

He's got a purpose.

David Spoon:

He's not like, going on board.

David Spoon:

I'm just going to write, I left you in Crete to set right what was left undone.

David Spoon:

This has nothing to do with the cross, so don't get weird.

David Spoon:

This has to do with stuff that's got to still be done.

David Spoon:

Listen, there is much about the where there's a lot undone regarding our sharing of the cross.

David Spoon:

And there's a lot undone thus far as becoming more and more like Christ.

David Spoon:

As 2nd Corinthians 3:18 says, Glory by glory, there's still stuff to do.

David Spoon:

And if it was true then, it's true now.

David Spoon:

And so he's like, look, you got to get these things, to put these things in order, please.

David Spoon:

We got to get this stuff together.

David Spoon:

And by participating in this, by the way, it's our turn to do our part to demonstrate our love and commitment to the Lord.

David Spoon:

God saved you through Jesus Christ, put the Holy Spirit inside you.

David Spoon:

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

Are you not just thankful for that, but that proof that you are thankful, that is your willingness to be, you know, make me more like Jesus, help me to be a sharer, a person who can share, do whatever I can to help others, whether I'm just praying for them, talking to himself, sending a text, email, whatever.

David Spoon:

And it's all part of our demonstration of our love of saying thank you to the Lord that we are responsive to the Lord and work for his kingdom to be advanced.

David Spoon:

I love this country, but it is not the kingdom of God.

David Spoon:

I'm a stranger and an alien on this planet.

David Spoon:

I'm looking for a city whose builder and maker is God.

David Spoon:

That's what we gotta be doing.

David Spoon:

So he says, I left you in Crete to set things right.

David Spoon:

Because there's a lot of stuff in Crete that wasn't going great.

David Spoon:

And Crete was kind of a tough place, a little bit, let's say a little darker than maybe Beverly Hills kind of thing.

David Spoon:

Get it?

David Spoon:

And then to set right what was left undone.

David Spoon:

And as I directed you to appoint elders in every town.

David Spoon:

And so they needed elders, leadership.

David Spoon:

And in countries and in, let me say it this way, in cities.

David Spoon:

Forget that.

David Spoon:

In neighborhoods, in cities, in counties, in states, in countries, in continents, we need leaders.

David Spoon:

And what we really want are leaders who are not so self absorbed that they are the center of anything.

David Spoon:

That's just the worst kind of leader.

David Spoon:

What we want, our servant leaders.

David Spoon:

You gotta love John Maxwell making his one statement.

David Spoon:

If you hear the fill where he goes, people rise and people fall, depending on the leadership.

David Spoon:

Oh, it's so true.

David Spoon:

It's true.

David Spoon:

And what we're getting into is this next thing.

David Spoon:

This is the Third, remember we had one Timothy, second Timothy and Titus.

David Spoon:

These are the three pastoral epistles all written by Paul two to Timothy one to Titus.

David Spoon:

And he's going to get into the qualifications.

David Spoon:

We're going to do it again and again.

David Spoon:

I just say this because the modern church has not done a good job in this.

David Spoon:

The situation that was in Titus was entirely with Titus and in Crete was entirely different than the situation that Timothy had.

David Spoon:

Titus had less to work with, fewer people and a lot more darkness in their communities.

David Spoon:

So Paul gives a little bit different script.

David Spoon:

And here's the key to understand that in the situations God alters that per circumstance people are like, well, we just tried to find a pastor or we tried to find an elder in our church.

David Spoon:

We use first Timothy, two Timothy and Titus.

David Spoon:

That's funny because one Timothy, two Timothy and Titus didn't use that.

David Spoon:

I just thought I'd bring that up because Titus was a different circumstance.

David Spoon:

You use what's applicable to your circumstance and that's what the Lord gives us, that broad sense.

David Spoon:

And so he's encouraged to appoint elders.

David Spoon:

And like I said, we'll get into elder qualification probably next week.

David Spoon:

But it should be noted that leaders are an important part of things.

David Spoon:

And I want to say this about leadership because we have good leadership, we have bad leadership.

David Spoon:

We have people that are willing to serve and people that want to only be served.

David Spoon:

We have self aggrandizers and people that use their leadership positions to gain personally.

David Spoon:

And it was King David who said that in his writings he realized that the Lord had made him king for the sake of his people.

David Spoon:

The difference between a good leader and a bad leader is right there.

David Spoon:

If you recognize you're in a leadership position, it is for the sake of others, not yourself.

David Spoon:

If you are a leadership, you have leadership in your home, with your family, at your job, you are there as a servant first.

David Spoon:

And if not, then you're not doing what you are supposed to do that God appointed you to do.

David Spoon:

And I mean in every capacity leaders need to have a servant's heart, a care for the people and they need to have a sensitivity to God.

David Spoon:

You have to love these things because they're just the truth.

David Spoon:

And I don't care.

David Spoon:

Some leaders are good, some are bad.

David Spoon:

Not every person in every one group is bad.

David Spoon:

I mean that's just ridiculous.

David Spoon:

Some people do a decent job, that's fine.

David Spoon:

But it's all about the Lord and the people of the Lord.

David Spoon:

And so even you, if you influence somebody in any capacity, that makes you a leader in some Situation.

David Spoon:

You're a leader.

David Spoon:

Hey, here it is.

David Spoon:

Do it as a servant.

David Spoon:

Servant leadership is Christ leadership.

David Spoon:

He who wants to be greatest among you will be servant of all.

David Spoon:

Okay, I guess it's not about the titles.

David Spoon:

I guess it's not about the trophies.

David Spoon:

I guess it's about using tools to help the people and to honor God.

David Spoon:

What a brilliant idea that is.

David Spoon:

Yeah, that's why it's thousands of years old.

David Spoon:

Sorry.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:
