One Man

By Tammy Lacock

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Rom. 5:12 KJV)

In Paul’s epistles to the Romans, we can begin to understand God’s dealings with man, from the time of Adam to our new life in Christ.

In chapter 5 verse 12, He speaks of the one man through which sin entered the world and was passed down through the generations of men. Through Adam’s sin, we all became sinners. A sinner is a dying person. It isn’t until we die to our old lives of sin that, as believers, we have a new life in Christ. It took one man who bore all of our sin so that when He died, our sin died with Him. He died so that we might have a new life, a more abundant life.

That one man is Christ.

Did God know that Adam would sin? Of course.

So why did God carry on? He did so to carry out His plan from the beginning (Eph. 1:4). He knew man could not do anything on his own. He knew the only way we would come back to Him would be for His only begotten Son to die for us and our sins. This way, our old lives of sin would die with Christ and we would rise again to our new life in Him. With Christ as our new and only life, we are now blameless before God and, in fact, joint heirs, bona fide sons and daughters of Him, now ready to enter His heavenly home.

It took one man to bring sin into the whole world, and it took one man to overcome it.

Will you be a follower of the Apostle Paul and share this everlasting Gospel of Christ to hungry hearts around the world?
