Elijah was a human being even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. James 5 verses 17.
At times we read the Bible and we're like, oh, that person was a prophet or that person, they were ordained by God. This person was special, unique, different.
But this verse shows us that Elijah was a human being, just like us. We are all human beings. And to be a human being means that we have emotions, we have thoughts, we have fears, we have all of the things that Elijah had. And in the story, in the biblical story that this is referencing,
He was praying for it not to rain because that's what he knew the region needed. They didn't need rain. And so he simply prayed to God and he said, Lord, I'm praying for no rain. And for three and a half years, it didn't rain.
What are you praying for God to do in your life? Do you believe the thing that you're praying for? Let's take a moment and sit there. Do you believe the thing that you are praying for God to do? If I am praying for a new job, but I don't really believe God is gonna do it, I'm like, Lord, oh, this job is so bad. Lord, help me get a new job.

and I'm nonchalant and I don't really believe it in my heart. That doesn't mean that God isn't going to answer. But it does mean that He's waiting for you to believe.
God typically doesn't immediately answer our prayers or do the things that we want him to do when we don't have the faith, the belief in our minds and in our heart.
So instead of having that very complacent prayer, Lord help me get a job. Lord, I believe that you're going to help me get a new job. I believe that the perfect position is out there for me. I believe it and I trust you God. I completely trust you. Can you see the difference between those prayers? I believe the words that I'm saying.
I may not believe it in my core. I may not believe it down in my deep, deep depths, but I have enough strength and I have enough faith to say, Lord, I can't see it. It doesn't make sense, but I know that you're going to do it. And then we must be persistent. We often will pray one time and say, God didn't do it. Okay. I pray five days this week about the same thing. God didn't do it.
We have to pray for weeks, months, years sometimes. Because as we're praying to God, God is working in us. He is healing the things inside us that need to be healed. He is preparing the table that we need to sit at. He is preparing the hearts of the people that need to receive us. He's working. Just because you don't see him, you don't feel him, you don't think anything is changing, God is working.

So don't give up on that prayer. Don't give up on that thing, the thing that God put on your mind and heart that you want to achieve, that you want to do. Don't give up on it. Keep praying. Believe it in your heart. Believe it in your mind.
Flex clothes and prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, I pray over all of your children today. I pray that the things in their hearts and on their minds, that they haven't given up on them, that they continuously pray to you, they continuously seek you and remind them, Lord, that although it doesn't seem like you're moving, although they can't feel it, hear it, touch it, taste it, you are moving.
You are preparing in them where they need to be for this blessing that you will bestow upon them. You are preparing the people in their lives that need to receive these things. You are preparing the table that they will sit at in the presence of their enemies. That table, Lord, you are preparing that table. So remind them today to trust you, to believe in you, to keep praying tonight.
Give up. Lord, we love you so much. In your son Jesus' name we pray, amen.
