Nobody knows what to buy the pre-PA in their life. Send them this.
This one's a break from the usual. It's a gift guide for anyone on the pre-PA path, whether you're shopping for someone else or quietly forwarding it to your mom.
Half of it is practical: study resources, things that make long hours at a desk less miserable, tools that actually get used. The other half is self-care, because this process wears people down and a gift that says "go take care of yourself" hits differently in the middle of an application cycle.
The main thing is to think about where the person actually is. Somebody grinding through prereqs needs different things than somebody about to start interviews.

Okay, so today we're taking a break from traditional pre PA stuff to talk about fun things like gifts and presents and things you'll need to make your pre PA journey easier.
Speaker A:Survive as a PA student and as a PA.
Speaker A: Welcome to the: Speaker A:Welcome to the Pre PA Club podcast.
Speaker A:If you want to learn how to become a physician assistant, you're in the right place.
Speaker A:I'm your host, Savannah Perry.
Speaker A:Let's to it.
Speaker A:Before we get started, I just wanted to quickly mention a sponsor of the podcast, MyPA Resource.
Speaker A:If you've never heard of MyPA Resource, it's a website, www.myparesource.com.
Speaker A:And while I offer services like mock interviews, I work with mypa Resource as a personal statement editor.
Speaker A:So mypa Resource has been around for a while now, and I would say just based on everything that's out there, they are the most trusted and most thorough pre PA personal statement editing service.
Speaker A:So with MyPA resource, like I said, I'm an editor, so I help them edit proofread personal statements for PA school applicants.
Speaker A:We'll talk more about personal statements in the future, but I cannot stress the importance of having your essay proofread by a PA. And that's what makes my PA resource different, is that they only use PAs to do their editing.
Speaker A:And so you want a PA who's familiar with the interview process and the application process before you submit to caspa.
Speaker A:So all the editors, we've been trained, we do lot of essays and we know what to look for and we know what the admissions committees are looking for.
Speaker A:And so I know when I edit, it's very thorough.
Speaker A:I mean, you're going to get a lot of read back, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Speaker A:So you can use actually a discount code that they have provided to the Pre Pa Club podcast listeners exclusively.
Speaker A:And you can get $15 off any service when you use the code Pre Pa Club, all in lowercase.
Speaker A:So I'll put that in the description as well.
Speaker A:And if you have any questions about that, please feel free to reach out to me.
Speaker A:They you can send them an email too.
Speaker A:But yeah, a great resource that I want you guys to know about.
Speaker A:All right, guys, thanks for tuning in to today's episode.
Speaker A:My name is Savannah Perry.
Speaker A:I am a dermatology PA in Georgia, and I'm also the creator of the Pre PA Club podcast and the PA Platform website.
Speaker A:Thank you for listening.
Speaker A:No matter how you found this podcast, just thank you.
Speaker A:It takes a good amount of work to put these episodes together and schedule interviews.
Speaker A:And I'm still blown away at the messages I get from you guys that even after doing this for two and a half years, you're still enjoying it.
Speaker A:So if you ever have any questions, comments, concerns, comments, ideas, please send them to me.
Speaker A:I kind of keep a running list of things that people send and certain PAs I'm on the lookout for to interview.
Speaker A:And we have, I think, the whole rest of this year we have some really great episodes and a good variety.
Speaker A:And then I already have some episodes planned out for next year, early next year that I think will be really good as well.
Speaker A:But today I'm kind of excited.
Speaker A: vember and this crazy year of: Speaker A: children learn about the year: Speaker A:And it, it's been a wild ride.
Speaker A:So I just, I don't even know if I'll be able to explain a worldwide pandemic adequately, but I will try.
Speaker A:And anyway, so I'm, I'm hopeful for a season where we'll get to celebrate and really just enjoy, hopefully, family and friends in a way we weren't able to quite as much this year.
Speaker A:I know the pandemic is still happening.
Speaker A:My family still does not know what we're doing for holidays, if anything, but that's okay, and we're just kind of going with the flow.
Speaker A:All right, so I'm going to jump into.
Speaker A:And this, I guess, stuff is also on the website, so we have an accompanying blog post that has specific examples of some of the things I'm going to talk about.
Speaker A:And when I was putting together this gift guide, I mean, I'll be honest, I was kind of doing it from a personal standpoint of things that I have either enjoyed, have been helpful to me, made my life easier.
Speaker A:And I polled some of you guys on Instagram and got some ideas from y' all as well about things that you're looking forward to possibly receiving this year or giving to other people.
Speaker A:So I think I love gift giving.
Speaker A:I probably go a little bit overboard, which I don't know if that's a problem or not, but it is a problem for my wallet.
Speaker A:But I just love giving gifts and seeing other people that I love be happy.
Speaker A:So anyway, hopefully this will give you some ideas for either yourself.
Speaker A:Feel free to forward this to any friends or family members you may need a little hint.
Speaker A:My husband is in the next room and I kind of hope he's even listening.
Speaker A:I'm probably gonna send it to him.
Speaker A:Or you can also maybe get some ideas for things to give to friends or co workers.
Speaker A:I feel like I struggle with co workers sometimes, but hopefully this will give you.
Speaker A:Give you some a push in the right direction.
Speaker A:And with so much virtual shopping this year and Black Friday coming up, I'm going to be on the lookout for some deals and I will be sharing any deals I find on stuff on the PA platform, Instagram.
Speaker A:So that's just HEPA platform.
Speaker A:And if this episode does not interest you at all or you have already done all your holiday shopping, like my sister who plans way, way ahead, then feel free to skip.
Speaker A:But I think it'll be a fun one because we kind of get to just chat.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:All right, let's jump in.
Speaker A:So I've kind of broken these down into categories.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:So our first category is pre PA gift ideas.
Speaker A:And then I've broken that down into gifts for school or things that will make the pre PA journey a little easier and take away some of the stress of the whole process of becoming a pa. And then also the next category would be like self care and things that are just focused more on you and taking care of yourself.
Speaker A:And since I think sometimes when we are, I don't know the word, knee deep, eyeballs deep in the process of becoming a pa, we aren't the best at focusing on ourselves.
Speaker A:So for the school part of things, number one, if you or somebody you know is working in medicine, I think it's always nice to get new scrubs.
Speaker A:And I personally am a scrub junkie.
Speaker A:I like trying different brands and fits and fabrics.
Speaker A:And one of the types of scrubs I really like this year has been Med Couture.
Speaker A:And I think these scrubs hold up very well.
Speaker A:They have a lot of color options, so if your work, you know, requires a certain color, you can usually find what you need.
Speaker A:The fit is very good.
Speaker A:So it's to me, it's true to size.
Speaker A:I am five foot one, so.
Speaker A:So I need petite scrubs because otherwise they are dragging the floor or I have to get them hemmed, which, to be honest, will never happen.
Speaker A:So I've been really excited that they have both petite and long options in their pants, but they're also very affordable.
Speaker A:You can find these on Amazon for the tops and bottoms separately, usually ranging in like 20 to $25.
Speaker A:So compared to some other brands that each piece is $50.
Speaker A:You really don't have to spend a hundred dollars on a set of scrubs.
Speaker A:So these are a lot more, in my opinion, affordable.
Speaker A:I have gotten my husband some of these and he liked them as well.
Speaker A:So I definitely recommend.
Speaker A:This was also what got me into joggers.
Speaker A:And I don't know how y' all feel about joggers.
Speaker A:I thought they were silly and I was a skeptic, but I decided to try some and they're actually pretty nice.
Speaker A:So I actually really enjoy the jogger pants I've gotten from Med Co Chair because they're not too long and they kind of just mix it up.
Speaker A:My office is fairly casual and so by wearing those I just, I wear them on my more laid back days or if I'm wanting to even look a little more polished, like I feel like it just isn't as pajama like as my normal scrubs.
Speaker A:So yeah, so Med Couture and you can get those on Amazon or any scrub store.
Speaker A:And the link to that blog post is in the bio if you want kind of links to all of these things as well.
Speaker A:All right, next would be a study resource.
Speaker A:So if you or someone you know is kind of struggling in studying right now or studying for undergrad or the kind of pre PA courses.
Speaker A:One resource that was not around when I was in school but has since seemed to become kind of a mainstay for a lot of students is Picmonic.
Speaker A:And I mention them specifically because they have a pre health option.
Speaker A:So what Picmonic does is it puts together a visual study guide.
Speaker A:So it teaches you through videos and pictures and stories that help you to actually understand the material versus staring at words on a paper or a boring PowerPoint.
Speaker A:And so it's kind of a memory tool.
Speaker A:In the past we have interviewed, I think it was the CEO of Picmonic actually.
Speaker A:And that was a while ago.
Speaker A:But you can, if you Google the PA platform, Picmonic, you'll find that if you want to learn more about it.
Speaker A:But we do have a 20% off code for that in the blog that will get you a discount for a year membership if you, you think that would be helpful to you or want to try a different way of studying.
Speaker A:And then of course I have to mention interview prep because that is my thing that I do.
Speaker A:And I just always want everyone to not just don't sleep on your interview.
Speaker A:You got to be ready for it.
Speaker A:Okay, listen, turn up the volume.
Speaker A:I'm going to say this Once, because we are going to have some major Black Friday deals this year.
Speaker A:We always do Black Friday deals this year.
Speaker A:They will be for 24 hours only.
Speaker A:Only on Black Friday?
Speaker A:No, like make sure you're signed up for the emails, make sure you're ready to go.
Speaker A:But we will have our $100 mock interviews again, that do not expire, that you can use at any point in time.
Speaker A:And then we will also have our pre PA assessment.
Speaker A:We'll have a free ticket to our pre PA conference which will be on January 2nd, and that will all be recorded.
Speaker A:So if you can't make it live, you'll get that.
Speaker A:And then I think we're gonna do something else, but I'm not for sure yet.
Speaker A:Or not for sure if I can say with kind of a new resource that's coming out and then I don't even know yet.
Speaker A:So if there's something you want to see a Black Friday deal on, let me know.
Speaker A:We're still kind of polishing that up, but I know the hundred dollar mock interviews will be back because we do like to give you that opportunity to plan ahead and get those at the absolute cheapest price ever.
Speaker A:So if you have any questions about that, let me know.
Speaker A:And then if you are looking for something for interview prep, we have both our interview guide and our interview course.
Speaker A:So the guide is a book.
Speaker A:The course is online.
Speaker A:It's about five hours of video with mock interview examples with bunches of videos walking through stuff.
Speaker A:I get questions a lot about how the book and the course are different.
Speaker A:So the book is laid out in a way where different questions are presented with kind of walking you through how to think about answering them.
Speaker A:There are some example answers in there.
Speaker A:And then of course it talks about interview styles and types and what to expect.
Speaker A:The course is a little different because in book format it's a little hard to kind of show what I mean.
Speaker A:Whereas in the course I'm able to kind of give you an example where I'm saying the answer or showing you what to do or not do.
Speaker A:So it's a little more interactive.
Speaker A:So depending on how you like to learn, like to kind of take things in, you may do better with the book, maybe do better with the course, or they really do complement each other.
Speaker A:If you're kind of wanting to do your own type of prep course.
Speaker A:So the course [email protected] and I do think that that might go on sale for Black Friday and it might even be 50% off.
Speaker A:So something to keep in mind and we'll be putting all of this on social media and in the Pre PA Club Facebook group as well.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Yeah, and if you need those things before Black Friday or earlier, you can always use the code Future PA for a discount on any service on the PA platform or any course or book at all.
Speaker A:Okay, so moving on to self care because you gotta take care of yourself and do things for yourself.
Speaker A:I like to buy myself presents too, but okay, so one thing that I recently received, my office bought all of us these huge water bottles.
Speaker A:If you follow me on Instagram, I posted about it.
Speaker A:It is massive.
Speaker A:But it's a half gallon and it's marked by time.
Speaker A:So it starts at 7am all the way to 7pm and to try to get you to drink more water, which I'm a terrible water drinker, especially now that we're wearing masks all the time.
Speaker A:I mean, there were some days where I wasn't even drinking a whole bottle of water at work, which is ridiculous.
Speaker A:So these water bottles to me have been life changing.
Speaker A:Like now I can tell such a difference when I don't drink enough water.
Speaker A:And it's become a lot easier for me to kind of up my hydration.
Speaker A:So highly recommend it got on Amazon.
Speaker A:I think it's about $15.
Speaker A:Don't tell.
Speaker A:But that's what pretty much all of my family will be getting this year for Christmas because I think everyone needs to be healthier.
Speaker A:So yeah, so check out the big water bottle.
Speaker A:And so when I think about health, I think about food, eating well, exercising and sleeping.
Speaker A:On the exercise side of things.
Speaker A:I've also been trying to work out more and I have found that if I don't do it first thing in the morning, it's not going to happen.
Speaker A:That doesn't have anything to do with this gift.
Speaker A:Just saying.
Speaker A:But I have fallen into the world of Lululemon dupes on Amazon because I'd heard about this, heard that there were like these dupes that were just as good or really great, but I didn't believe it.
Speaker A:So I saw someone post about a certain sports bra and I ordered it and I fell in love because the fabric is so, so great.
Speaker A:It's very thick.
Speaker A:It's held up extremely well.
Speaker A:So then I ended up ordering the leggings too.
Speaker A:And I don't think I'm buying expensive workout clothes ever again.
Speaker A:So you can find so many great things on there.
Speaker A:The.
Speaker A:The brand I like is called Limedy.
Speaker A:It's like remedy with an L. So L, E M E D Y and I have been so impressed by everything I have gotten from them on Amazon and they did run some specials on Prime Day.
Speaker A:So I'm hoping for Black Friday they will have some deals again because I I really liked everything I've gotten there.
Speaker A:And so then the third part of that sleep I highly recommend if you are having trouble sleeping, if you're an anxious sleeper, someone who's thinking and brain doesn't shut off.
Speaker A:Hello, that is me.
Speaker A:Sound machines have been my lifesaver and there's one by a company called Hatch.
Speaker A:It's actually the one that makes my child's baby sleep sound machine, but they make an adult version as well.
Speaker A:And it can get really loud if you want it to or not be too loud.
Speaker A:But it also has a gentle light alarm clock which I've been reading about a lot this year, just how how much better it is for you to kind of be in tune with your sleep cycles versus waking up abruptly when you're in a deep sleep.
Speaker A:I think that is a great gift for anyone who is currently a student or who you know is struggling to sleep.
Speaker A:Just like with all the stress of life and school in the world going on right now.
Speaker A:Okay, so that wraps up prepa and you're going to notice there's a lot of overlap in these categories because they're all just, I think, great things.
Speaker A:But okay, next would be for PA students specifically.
Speaker A:So this would be anyone who is in PA school or about to start PA school or recently got accepted.
Speaker A:These are things I think might be helpful for them.
Speaker A:And I have some people in my life who are pre PAs who will be starting PA school in the next few months.
Speaker A:So I'm going to be gifting some of these things as well.
Speaker A:So the first thing would be study materials.
Speaker A:PA school is expensive, so I think anything you can help with as far as that burden with getting a gift of, you know, something they're going to need to study would be extremely helpful.
Speaker A:Smarty Pants is something that has been recommended to me.
Speaker A:I first when it was not around when I was in PA school, but it first kind of came to me because people were asking if I had a code for them and I was like, oh, y' all must really like this.
Speaker A:What is it?
Speaker A:And so I spoke with Smarty Pants and they gave me access.
Speaker A:But it is an amazing resource for studying for boards and I have always recommended starting board studying from day one.
Speaker A:Like it should be integrated as part of your PA school education and you should be thinking about that test at the end from the very beginning And I love Question Banks.
Speaker A:They are my go to.
Speaker A:So I highly recommend Smarty Pants.
Speaker A:And that's like P, A, N, C, E, like the pants, the test.
Speaker A:So yeah, check them out.
Speaker A:That's a great option.
Speaker A:You can get a year membership and if you use the code the PA platform, you get 10% off.
Speaker A:So I think that would be something to look into.
Speaker A:I'm also a book girl.
Speaker A:I love having a physical book.
Speaker A:So the most highly recommended one right now is Pants Prep Pearls.
Speaker A:PPP from the author Dwayne, who I have met and spoken with and honestly call a friend.
Speaker A:He's awesome and he has created this resource.
Speaker A:As a PA who went through PA school, that is just an essential.
Speaker A:I actually just got my updated copies because I just remembered I'm gonna have to retake boards in a couple years and I need to start refreshing.
Speaker A:So you can get that through Amazon or through his website.
Speaker A:But I think that's something that every PA student needs for sure.
Speaker A:The other review book that I recommend is the Comprehensive Pants review book and that was the one that I mainly used in PA school.
Speaker A:It is not as thorough.
Speaker A:It's to me more of like a basic overview of everything that's on boards.
Speaker A:And so it is something that I think is helpful to have.
Speaker A:I would kind of read through it before each section and then during and then right before the test and then use other materials to supplement that kind of information.
Speaker A:So all of those are on Amazon.
Speaker A:Both of those are on Amazon and are good, good things to wrap up if you are looking for a present.
Speaker A:I also wanted to mention the tech that seems to be most popular for PA school right now.
Speaker A:And this is more of your like high dollar stuff.
Speaker A:This is like ask your parent, grandparent, everybody you know to go in on it, whatever kind of thing.
Speaker A:But it seems like in the pre PA club on Facebook everyone recommends having an iPad and I recommend double checking with the program you're going to or want to attend about their kind of tech requirements.
Speaker A:But it seems that an iPad with an Apple pen to take notes is the standard and I think I would have used that probably in PA school if it was available because I am a note taker and I mean I typed my notes but I really enjoy writing so part of me even wants to get one now even though I don't need it.
Speaker A:But yeah, so the iPad with an Apple pen is a great option if that is above your price range budget.
Speaker A:Even just an iPad case with a keyboard would be a great gift for someone who you know is Planning on getting an iPad for a PA school.
Speaker A:Coming from someone who dropped their computer a month before she started undergrad and college.
Speaker A:Highly recommend having a case and an insurance policy.
Speaker A:Okay, so then for rotations during PA school.
Speaker A:So rotations, you're gonna have long hours.
Speaker A:They're stressful.
Speaker A:You're changing every four to six weeks.
Speaker A:So you kind of have to go with the flow.
Speaker A:But I love my Medalita scrub jacket, and I think anyone in a clinical setting needs a Medalita scrub jacket.
Speaker A:It is all I wear at work.
Speaker A:It's all my husband wears at work as a hospitalist.
Speaker A:And we are obsessed.
Speaker A:So I highly recommend those.
Speaker A:Usually they have.
Speaker A:I mean, usually they have at least 30% off.
Speaker A:I don't know if they're doing any big Black Friday sales this year, but I'll be on the lookout and definitely share those with y'.
Speaker A:All.
Speaker A:And you can get them embroidered with either a logo or a name or not either way.
Speaker A:But they are comfy, cozy, and just, I think, very polished and look good versus, I don't know, I don't love the, like, big fleece ones.
Speaker A:So I really love the scrub jacket, specifically the ionic scrub jacket.
Speaker A:Next would be comfortable shoes, because this is a question I actually get all the time is, like, what shoes to wear on rotations.
Speaker A:And I tried all kinds of shoes on rotations.
Speaker A:I started with dance Go's, but I felt they were, like, a little bit heavy for me for wearing all day.
Speaker A:And then I went to just tennis shoes, which I would wear.
Speaker A:And I had some walking company ones.
Speaker A:Those actually were really great.
Speaker A:But what I have been wearing most recently, get ready Crocs, specifically their Crocs for work.
Speaker A:And so they actually, this was a while ago, like a few months ago, they sent me a pair to try.
Speaker A:They were doing, like, healthcare stuff, healthcare workers stuff with COVID And I know they were giving out a lot of pairs at that time, too.
Speaker A:And I, you know, I don't know.
Speaker A:I think Crocs get a bad rap.
Speaker A:But I love them.
Speaker A:They are very supportive.
Speaker A:They're soft, they're light, and I can wear them all day.
Speaker A:And my feet do not hurt, so I stand all day long.
Speaker A:Just how our office is set up.
Speaker A:Basically.
Speaker A:I have, like a standing desk.
Speaker A:I mean, I could sit if I want to, but I try to, like, walk while I dictate and things.
Speaker A:So I love wearing my Crocs and highly recommend they're also just so easy to clean because they're just kind of rubber.
Speaker A:So good option there.
Speaker A:You can get those On Amazon they have lots of sizes options, easy to try and return kind of thing.
Speaker A:And then I.
Speaker A:This is a.
Speaker A:This next one.
Speaker A:Little bluh.
Speaker A:Sorry.
Speaker A:This next one is something that I did not think I would like, but I have grown to like over the past year.
Speaker A:And that is an Apple Watch.
Speaker A:My mom and my sister got me one on Black Friday and I did not ask for this.
Speaker A:They just got me one for Christmas because they thought I would like it.
Speaker A:And I wasn't very excited, to be honest.
Speaker A:I was like, oh, okay.
Speaker A:Well, I don't really know what to do with this, but I actually love having holds me accountable to steps and making sure that I'm closing my rings mentally.
Speaker A:That does really well for me with being physically active.
Speaker A:But more than that, it is helpful in a clinical setting because I don't always want to pull my phone out.
Speaker A:But especially having kids or, or a kid, like I.
Speaker A:If somebody's calling me or I get a text, I can very quickly and discreetly kind of like check my watch to make sure it's not something that I need to answer immediately.
Speaker A:And so that's been really helpful.
Speaker A:So I do recommend an Apple Watch if that's something that you've been thinking about or wondering if you would like it.
Speaker A:I think you might so something to.
Speaker A:To try out.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:And then our next category is things to help you survive PA school.
Speaker A:And these are things that I either had or wish I had or wish I used because PA school is rough.
Speaker A:But alright, so number one is coffee, some type of coffee.
Speaker A:So you could do like a Starbucks gift card or you could get like a Keurig.
Speaker A:I've seen some crazy deals for Keurigs right now.
Speaker A:I think Walmart even had one for like 30 or $35 as part of one of their early Black Friday sales.
Speaker A:So I'm expecting to see some pretty good Keurig deals.
Speaker A:I love my Keurig.
Speaker A:I'm pretty much the only one who drinks coffee in my house and even then it's not every day.
Speaker A:It's kind of occasional.
Speaker A:And I only drink one cup.
Speaker A:One cup.
Speaker A:So I don't really need like a whole pot.
Speaker A:So the Keurig has been great.
Speaker A:So yeah, so be on the lookout for deals on those.
Speaker A:And then my second one is a Kindle or books, which I'm gonna get to books in a minute.
Speaker A:But I love reading.
Speaker A:I am in a book club and I just, I love reading.
Speaker A:But one of my biggest regrets is that I did not read a single book for fun during PA school and that is so silly.
Speaker A:Like, that's dumb.
Speaker A:But I was just so focused on school, school and studying that I felt like I couldn't let myself enjoy things.
Speaker A:So I'm here to say, don't do that.
Speaker A:Don't be me.
Speaker A:But I love my Kindle.
Speaker A:I have the paper white, which kind of is like a light glow.
Speaker A:So at night time I can get in bed, turn the lights off, read for a few minutes, kind of get my mind off things and, and think about something else and then fall asleep without bothering my husband or anything.
Speaker A:Which he has his Kindle too, by the way.
Speaker A:But, yeah, so I. I love my Kindle and I think some people love paper books and if you do, that's fine.
Speaker A:But I am a Kindle fan.
Speaker A:Okay, this next one's gonna be a little out of the box.
Speaker A:So this is a course.
Speaker A:If you remember Kristen, she was on the podcast, I guess, almost a month ago, and she did a virtual shadowing, talking about her job.
Speaker A:But she has developed a financial course that I think would be extremely helpful for anyone in PA school because it goes over the basics of finances, budgeting, trying to figure out how to plan for paying things off like student loans.
Speaker A:And you are not going to learn that in PA school.
Speaker A:Like, they just don't teach you that.
Speaker A:They might have one person come in and talk about money for an hour.
Speaker A:So her course is called Cash Flow Cornerstones.
Speaker A:And there is a link in the blog post where you can look up strive with Kristen.
Speaker A:But I highly recommend it to anyone who's wanting to kind of get more of a base of their financial knowledge and make themselves feel a little bit more confident in making some of those money decisions.
Speaker A:All right, now we have come to PA gifts or really just anyone gifts.
Speaker A:But I thought this would be good for people who are out of the school, school side of things.
Speaker A:And also I get a lot of questions about things to get for people that you've shadowed.
Speaker A:And so some of these may be helpful for that.
Speaker A:So first would be at work, which should we get somebody something for work for Christmas?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:I don't think it's the worst thing ever.
Speaker A:But here's just some ideas.
Speaker A:So my number one is a white coat and Metalita is 100 the standard of white coats.
Speaker A:Again, they might have.
Speaker A:Usually they have about 30% off.
Speaker A:They may have a bigger sale for Black Friday, I'm not sure.
Speaker A:But I love the Rebecca coat and I definitely recommend using the Thread color Sprite.
Speaker A:You have to request that.
Speaker A:But it looks so good.
Speaker A:And so if they, you know, don't have a white coat or been complaining that theirs looks grungy, that's a great option.
Speaker A:Number two is a good pair of shoes, which I mentioned my Crocs, which I love.
Speaker A:And my second favorite pair of shoes are New Balance Energize.
Speaker A:And that's like, it starts with an N. It's like, energized without the E. Anyway, they are the best walking shoes that I have ever found.
Speaker A:I have, I think, four colors now because Amazon will put them on sale for $30, and I wear them out.
Speaker A:I walked all over Boston.
Speaker A:We walked, like, 15 miles, and my feet did not hurt.
Speaker A:I can wear them to work, no issue.
Speaker A:And so that is a pair of shoes that I recommend that are affordable but really, really comfy.
Speaker A:Now, like, I've converted.
Speaker A:My mom wears them.
Speaker A:A couple girls at Bible study bought them.
Speaker A:The other PA I work with bought them.
Speaker A:Like, we all wear these shoes because they're so great, and I can't.
Speaker A:If I like something, I just can't stop talking about it.
Speaker A:All right, next would be blue light glasses.
Speaker A:And that's something I think there's also been a lot of talk about this year.
Speaker A:And just I.
Speaker A:Eye health and trying to protect your eyes.
Speaker A:And being in healthcare now, we're usually constantly looking at, like, the computer with the EMR or our phones.
Speaker A:And so for some eye relief, like, a cute pair of blue light glasses is a great option.
Speaker A:There are, I think a three pack on Amazon is like 20 bucks, so they're pretty cheap.
Speaker A:And that's something kind of fun and different that you could get.
Speaker A:And then, of course, scrubs, which the Med Couture are great.
Speaker A:Medalita has scrubs.
Speaker A:And I did want to mention.
Speaker A:I know they've been in hot water, and I am not associated with them, nor have I ever owned a pair.
Speaker A:But my husband loves his figs, and so that may be a good option if you have any guys, just because he really does like the fit of them.
Speaker A:Okay, next I wanted to talk about some skin stuff, because I think that could fall into any of these categories.
Speaker A:But being a derm pa, of course, I wanted to add some skin things and talk about some of my favorites and then some of the things that I've used over the past year.
Speaker A:So I started using Babe Lash, which is a lash serum, back in.
Speaker A:I think it was around March or April.
Speaker A:And it is such a game changer at this point.
Speaker A:Like, I rarely wear mascara just because my lashes look like you can see them.
Speaker A:They're long and they're thick.
Speaker A:So if you've been looking for a lash serum, Babelash is it doesn't irritate eyes.
Speaker A:My latisse was extremely irritating.
Speaker A:It's not super expensive and you can use the code Savannah S A V A N N A No H for 20% off for their essential serum.
Speaker A:That's the the kind of main one you would want to get.
Speaker A:I also use the enhancing conditioner in the morning.
Speaker A:But if you are looking to kind of up your lash game, highly recommend using some babe lash.
Speaker A:Next would be just a general skincare routine.
Speaker A:And I have been getting some questions on on Instagram about this which I I'm never going to share.
Speaker A:Like never going to like give you a personal, I don't know, medical advice I guess is the right way to put it.
Speaker A:But just in general, if someone is looking for a kind of comprehensive skincare routine, usually revision is my go to if they're wanting to up from like drugstore quality to a cosmeceutical brand.
Speaker A:And I tend to recommend to patients who are just kind of getting started a brightening wash.
Speaker A:So their brightening wash has vitamin C and glycolic acid.
Speaker A:It is great.
Speaker A:And even just once a day is fine.
Speaker A:So that goes a really long way.
Speaker A:And then a combination of their vitamin C lotion in the morning and the retinol complete at night that is going to do the most at just helping with complexion.
Speaker A:Dark spots, fine lines and just a really great combination of great products.
Speaker A:And then you can always add from there.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But if you're just getting started, that's where I would kind of start.
Speaker A:So if someone you know loves skincare, you could point them in that direction or start them on part of that routine.
Speaker A:And those are on Amazon.
Speaker A:The ones you see on Amazon from revision are their actual products.
Speaker A:You don't have to worry about getting any counterfeit ones.
Speaker A:They worked really hard to make sure that only their products were available there.
Speaker A:Okay, I did wanna mention.
Speaker A:So I talked about my book club.
Speaker A:I'm gonna tell you three of my favorite wreaths from this past if you want something to read.
Speaker A:I know this sounds random, but I was just thinking of gifts.
Speaker A:So the one we read most recently was the Silent Patient.
Speaker A:And this was the biggest thriller and the biggest twist that we read all year.
Speaker A:I'm not really going to tell you much about it.
Speaker A:It's a little dark, but it was like definitely like one.
Speaker A:We were like, oh my gosh, didn't see that coming.
Speaker A:And we had a lot to Talk about.
Speaker A:So the Silent Patient.
Speaker A:The next one is One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and she, in general, has become one of my new most favorite authors.
Speaker A:Her books are.
Speaker A:They're a little lighter and they're just very easy to read, but make you think, make you fall in love with the characters.
Speaker A:And so I.
Speaker A:One True Loves is a good one to start with for her, but if you read one, you're gonna want to read all of her books.
Speaker A:And then the third one would be the Nightingale.
Speaker A:It is so good.
Speaker A:It is a historical fiction set in World War II, and, like, it's one of our book club's most favorites of all time.
Speaker A:And it was just amazing.
Speaker A:I forgot actually, the author's name is something Hannah.
Speaker A:But highly recommend the Nightingale.
Speaker A:All right, we're about to wrap it up.
Speaker A:So I already mentioned some gift cards, so any of those are great.
Speaker A:Starbucks if someone's dressed, driving a lot, like some rotations, maybe a gas gift card, but really, whatever is, like, pertinent to your area.
Speaker A:I think gift cards are just such a great gift.
Speaker A:The next like, I talk about all the same stuff all the time, but a cork sickle, if y' all do not have a cork sickle cup, they're so good.
Speaker A:I put my iced coffee in it in the mornings and it stays cold all day long.
Speaker A:Like, my ice is still ice at the end of the day.
Speaker A:So highly recommend Quartzicles.
Speaker A:They have them on Amazon.
Speaker A:They have so many fun colors.
Speaker A:But I think that is a great gift to give someone.
Speaker A:And then.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Oh, that wraps it up.
Speaker A:So I have lounge around here, but I don't have anything specific, just that I love loungewear, so.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:I hope that wasn't too boring and maybe gave you some ideas.
Speaker A:Hopefully you're working on your shopping list for others or for yourself.
Speaker A:And if there's anything that you think should be added or that you want me to look for deals for, please let me know.
Speaker A:But otherwise, we'll see you guys next week.
Speaker A:And we'll be talking about student loans.
Speaker A:I have an interview coming up with somebody and we're going to be talking about private student loans.
Speaker A:So that'll be really interesting.
Speaker A:All right, thanks for tuning in, following along.
