Unknown:welcome to episode 158. Of let's be honest, before we start
Unknown:pretending I am so excited. We got a new month, it is May 1
Unknown:Y'all It is May 1 Happy May Happy May Day. And I love as you
Unknown:guys all know, I love a new beginning of fresh start, you
Unknown:know, all the time. So here we go. Here we go. Hey, what
Unknown:percolated for y'all when we talked about lessons and
Unknown:leveraging your lessons, I would love to hear from you. So go to

Unknown:you know, when we're taking the lead in our life, staying

Unknown:May, I am calling this the month of intention where, you know, I
Unknown:had said last week we're going to dive more into lessons. Well,
Unknown:one of the things that helps us dive into lessons more is being
Unknown:intentional, having intention, getting clear on our intention,
Unknown:creating results, right, because results come from intention.
Unknown:They do they we don't pass go without intention. So what we're
Unknown:going to do is today, we're going to talk about intention,
Unknown:what it is, and the three Ds of intention. Next week, we're
Unknown:going to talk about intention and getting clear. How do you
Unknown:get clear on your intention, there's four components to it.
Unknown:I've talked a little bit about this on the podcast in some
Unknown:different ways, but I'm going to bring it together for you. Next
Unknown:week, we are going to then talk about in week three of May
Unknown:intention and results. And what we're going to do is we're going
Unknown:to look at both when it works and when it doesn't work. And
Unknown:this is really where you can begin to see lessons and begin
Unknown:to leverage them. I have an amazing guest that's coming on
Unknown:in week four. And it's going to be about intentional
Unknown:relationships with our kids all the way into adulthood. And it's
Unknown:fantastic, I cannot wait for you to meet her. And in week five,
Unknown:we're going to talk about intentional relationships with
Unknown:partners. Hello, and then actually, let me tell you what
Unknown:we're gonna do in the first week of June, we're going to talk
Unknown:about intentional relationships with your business, or your job,
Unknown:career, things like that. So intention is, you know,
Unknown:everything we have, you know, we are creating results that we
Unknown:want, we are creating results that we don't want. You know, we
Unknown:don't always stop and think about intention or what our
Unknown:intention is. And we I think intention is such a powerful
Unknown:tool that we have available to us all the time. Because we're
Unknown:at choice. Y'all may have heard me talk about the the couch
Unknown:where I come together with my dear friend CAMI McLaren, also a
Unknown:colleague. We've been both in coaches for years and years and
Unknown:years. And in April, we literally dove into intention.
Unknown:And it occurred to me like everybody gets to hear this,
Unknown:everyone gets to hear this. By the way, if you want to be part

Unknown:Okay, let's go let's talk about intention and what it is. So
Unknown:intention is a tool. And it's basically something that helps
Unknown:us create the things that we want. It requires two components
Unknown:they require is thinking and action. It does not exist
Unknown:without one or the other. Okay, thinking and action, and
Unknown:bringing them together, putting them together so that you can
Unknown:create, as my dear friend kami says the magic, okay, the magic
Unknown:that you want in your life. And intention is something that I
Unknown:think is kind of resides down in our subconscious, right? You
Unknown:know, do you ever get a gut check? And you're like, ah, and
Unknown:then you act on it. And then it's like, Oh, right. I mean, it
Unknown:could probably go the other way too. But I just, you know,
Unknown:you've got this gut check, you either do or you don't. And then
Unknown:magic, right, it was a really good thing. Okay. Now, we can do
Unknown:this the other way too, because, you know, we can create from
Unknown:fear also, we really can manifest intentionally with our
Unknown:fear. There's, there's a saying called what we fear we create.
Unknown:And it's, it's, it definitely happens. So I think it's really
Unknown:important to start really diving in and looking at the tool
Unknown:called intention, which is why we're going to work with this
Unknown:the entire month, and even into June, because I just feel like
Unknown:this is one of the strongest tools that we can have as human
Unknown:beings to self improve and to grow and to take the lead in our
Unknown:life. So intention, thinking, and action, hey, so you get an
Unknown:idea, something that you want to create, hey, something that you
Unknown:want to create, I'm going to use an example that I've shared with
Unknown:you on the podcast that relates to my health, and it relates to
Unknown:the knee replacement, and I've already shared about it. So now
Unknown:that we're over on the other side of it, it's a great
Unknown:example, to break down when it comes to this. Because with
Unknown:intention, I think that what happens is you have an idea. And
Unknown:you make a decision, here's where the three Ds are coming
Unknown:in, you decide that you are going to you're going to you
Unknown:want something you decide. And in that moment of decision,
Unknown:something changes within you, you can feel it in your body. So
Unknown:I want you to think about that for a minute. Think about when
Unknown:you've wanted something, and you've actually had it happen,
Unknown:you made it happen. There was a moment, and it might have even
Unknown:just been so brief, so slight that you might not realize it
Unknown:but think about this, when you are clear in your decision, you
Unknown:feel it in your body, hey, for me, I will feel that in my gut.
Unknown:It's no other conversation. And then my heart aligns with it. My
Unknown:brain aligns with it. My whole being gets on board. That minute
Unknown:that we decide. And decisions are really important as leaders,
Unknown:they are 100% important to decide. And what you want to do
Unknown:is you want to make those decisions quickly. And what I
Unknown:mean by that I'm not saying don't make them haphazardly.
Unknown:What I'm saying is don't ruminate. Don't think too long
Unknown:about it. Do be thoughtful and do be purposeful. But don't
Unknown:ruminate Don't overanalyze it, because what's happening is
Unknown:we're allowing that how to get in there, and that almost is
Unknown:always going to muddy the water. So you decide. And when you
Unknown:decide you feel that in your body, okay? So the first step is
Unknown:to decide, make the decision, and you'll know that you've made
Unknown:it because you're going to feel it, you're going to feel it,
Unknown:you're gonna know, it could feel a little scary. You might feel a
Unknown:little uncertain. You might feel excited, and let's go like
Unknown:there's a whole bunch of feelings that can go on with
Unknown:that. That's okay. But decide, okay, decide, and then you want
Unknown:to declare it. Okay, so what do I mean by declaring it? I mean,
Unknown:you want to shout it out loud. Say it to an accountability
Unknown:partner, say it to say it to as many people as you can, because
Unknown:the minute we declare something, we've just brought it to life.
Unknown:Okay. declarations are powerful because they change what wasn't
Unknown:into what is they change what wasn't into what is I'm gonna
Unknown:give you an example, when President John F. Kennedy
Unknown:declared there would be a man on the moon. He literally changed
Unknown:what wasn't into what is by saying it out loud. Okay, saying
Unknown:it out loud. Now did he personally put a man on the
Unknown:moon? No. But it opened up the possibility and it started the
Unknown:trajectory toward having that happen. By declaration, it's,
Unknown:it's, that's what it is. So it changes what isn't into what is.
Unknown:So you want to declare it. And by the way, you want to declare
Unknown:it as if it's a done deal done. Like, like President Kennedy,
Unknown:there will be a man on the moon. Okay, we will have a man on the
Unknown:moon. I always like to add in by when, and I'll tell you why. By
Unknown:when gives you direction, it gives you something to go for,
Unknown:okay? Within three months by May 31, like a very specific, the
Unknown:more specific you are the even better that is. Now I want to
Unknown:give you a little caveat. It gives you direction to move
Unknown:forward. And if may 31 comes and you haven't hit it, do not give
Unknown:up. Okay? Because you've heard me say this before your goals
Unknown:are worth it, you are worth it. Don't give up you declare again,
Unknown:and you keep going. A lot of times when I'm working with
Unknown:people and as a coach, I'm always listening for what my
Unknown:clients are declaring that they're going to take on that
Unknown:they're going to do the things that they want, okay. And when I
Unknown:ask the question, and if I noticed, my clients are thinking
Unknown:too long about it, that's when I gotta intervene, I gotta jump in
Unknown:with them and say You're thinking too long? What is your
Unknown:gut say? Because a lot of times what happens and you might
Unknown:remember, our brain doesn't like uncertainty. So when we're
Unknown:making a declaration, oftentimes we're, we're, we're attempting
Unknown:to declare a sure thing, like, I know, I can make this happen. So
Unknown:I'm fact there are no sure things. Hey, fun fact, there are
Unknown:no sure things when you were up to something in taking the lead
Unknown:of in your life. And you're you've decided, and now you're
Unknown:declaring, declare without certainty, okay? Because as soon
Unknown:as you decide to act, okay, and that's the third d do. As soon
Unknown:as you get into action, which is doing, you're going to begin to
Unknown:create certainty, okay? You will not know until you go, okay? The
Unknown:only thing that creates certainty is action. Okay? So
Unknown:those are the three Ds, right? Decide, make the decision,
Unknown:decide, declare, declare it out loud, to as many people as you
Unknown:can, okay? Because it sort of puts your head on the line
Unknown:you've like, set it now. Right? And that can help motivate you
Unknown:to move that can help motivate you to move and then do is the
Unknown:third d get into action. So now, you've thought about it, you've
Unknown:decided, and when I say thought about it, you haven't
Unknown:overthought about it, you've been thoughtful and purposeful,
Unknown:but you've thought about it, you've decided you've declared,
Unknown:and now you're doing and now you will have results. Okay? And
Unknown:that's sort of the formula, not sort of, let me take sort of
Unknown:out, that's the formula that goes into intention as the tool
Unknown:called intention, okay. And my dear friend, Tammy always says
Unknown:that's where magic happens. Because as you're working toward
Unknown:the thing that you say you want, you may be focusing over in
Unknown:pieces of action over here. But then suddenly, something over on
Unknown:the complete other side of the field, if you will, shows up,
Unknown:and there's the result. Now, what the heck do I mean by that?
Unknown:What I mean by that is this is if you are in action, it is
Unknown:impossible not to create the result. If you were in action,
Unknown:it's impossible not to create the result. Okay. There's
Unknown:another saying the universe rewards action, not just
Unknown:thinking about it, and I add this in, it's not mostly it's
Unknown:not going to look the way you think it's going to. Okay, so we
Unknown:are like, I'm going to do step ABCD. And then I will have IE,
Unknown:maybe, maybe not, but will you create the result you want?
Unknown:Often, yes, you will have much more opportunity to create that
Unknown:utilizing this formula. Period done. I've seen it over and
Unknown:over. So I'm going to give you an example. You all know that I
Unknown:had knee replacement in February. And that was quite a
Unknown:process. I look back now and I really am like wow, that was
Unknown:quite a process. And there was a hurdle or an obstacle that got
Unknown:in the way, and probably at about, I want to say, like, a
Unknown:month, I can't remember at this moment, but like a month out, I
Unknown:was given I was told Yeah, actually, just slightly more
Unknown:than a month out, I was told that we would not be able to do
Unknown:the surgery, because my BMI was not at a number that my doctor
Unknown:was comfortable with. And essentially, that just puts you
Unknown:at a higher risk for infection, which you don't want. You don't
Unknown:you don't want infection, you know, when you're having any
Unknown:type of surgery. So what that meant is, I had to, like had to
Unknown:lose seven pounds, seven pounds was like, there's no other
Unknown:conversation, we will not do this. Unless you lose seven
Unknown:pounds. And there was a time in my life where I was like seven
Unknown:pounds, snap it snap, no problem. Let's go. Okay, that is
Unknown:not this time. 56 years of age, that's about this time. All
Unknown:right. But I remember in that moment, when I was driving home,
Unknown:from the doctor's office, there was a moment of feeling sort of
Unknown:defeated. And like, how did I let this happen? I knew this,
Unknown:like, we've talked about this, what's going on. And then I
Unknown:remember, you know, I could probably go down a big ol rabbit
Unknown:hole of making myself wrong and feeling bad and having shame.
Unknown:And that's not going to get me the knee surgery, what's gonna
Unknown:get me the knee surgery is losing seven pounds, okay, and
Unknown:we don't need to make this significant. And I decided in
Unknown:the car ride home, this is what we were going to do. We're going
Unknown:to lose the weight period done. And in fact, I said, I'm gonna
Unknown:go for 15. Hey, that's double the seven plus one, right?
Unknown:Double the seven plus one. Why not? I love to go bigger go home
Unknown:is over says right? Why not. And I remember declaring that out
Unknown:loud, I declared it to Kami, who happens to be my accountability
Unknown:partner, I declared it all over the place all over the place. I
Unknown:even declared it to all of you who are listening. I declared it
Unknown:globally. Now talk about vulnerability. Like what? I
Unknown:don't have to say anything about any of that. But I knew that by
Unknown:putting it out there, I will lose 15 pounds by that surgery
Unknown:date. Now my butt's on the line, it is out in the world,
Unknown:literally. Okay. So I decided, I declared, and then I got into
Unknown:the do of it. And I in what it required was some bold and
Unknown:massive action. It required getting some help. It required,
Unknown:you know, making some nutritional changes, making some
Unknown:activity changes in what I could do with to really naughty knees,
Unknown:right. But it required me really asking for help and leaning in.
Unknown:And I got so much support, even from like, what is the
Unknown:electrolyte stuff that you're putting in your water? Let's
Unknown:check the sodium count. Right? Let's just check it. And you
Unknown:know, we discovered that maybe let's drop that and just drink
Unknown:the plain water. It was amazing. And making all these changes,
Unknown:like, right, like I made them, period done. And I stayed the
Unknown:course I lost 12 pounds. I lost 12. So we were well past the
Unknown:seven. I didn't hit the 15. But I wasn't upset about that.
Unknown:Because had I not declared 15 I wouldn't have surpassed the
Unknown:seven. And I really wanted to surpass the seven. I wanted to
Unknown:surpass the seven because I wanted to give myself every
Unknown:opportunity to be as healthy as possible. Okay. That is how
Unknown:powerful intention is. Now, I thought about this. And I was
Unknown:like, Yeah, we made some changes, but they were and they
Unknown:were bold. And they were you know, massive. But were they
Unknown:changing something in my water, I was still drinking the exact
Unknown:same amount of water. I didn't have it, because I was already
Unknown:drinking enough but just removing something that had
Unknown:sodium in it. I don't want to minimize that. That was
Unknown:something that I know, created it staying the course in my
Unknown:nutrition. I know how to eat. I've been eating this way for a
Unknown:while and I know that it works. But staying the course staying
Unknown:in my integrity with it. Like no other conversation. Okay, moving
Unknown:my body as much as I could doing some things that I could do that
Unknown:weren't hurting my knees and not having it be the excuse. So if
Unknown:you remember, part of the reason we're doing the knee surgeries
Unknown:is to remove the excuse so that I am healthy, vibrant, and
Unknown:integrity with myself and my health. So I don't need to wait
Unknown:for that. I got to do it right then and there. And I'm
Unknown:continuing to do it because the next surgery is September 5,
Unknown:okay? So I give you that example. Because you're all
Unknown:familiar with it, you've been listening for a while, or if
Unknown:you're new, there's plenty episodes that you can you can go
Unknown:back and listen to, to hear that story. And it's a powerful
Unknown:example of intention and utilizing the three Ds of
Unknown:intention to have it happen. Okay? So think about something
Unknown:that you want something that you want, like, this year, this
Unknown:month, this quarter, whatever it is for you. Think about what it
Unknown:is and decide to have it happen. decide when you want to have it
Unknown:happen, declare it to someone, you can declare it to me, if you
Unknown:want, you can go to those curiosity challenges that link
Unknown:and you can literally leave a like a voice message for me
Unknown:declaring it I got you, I'm here for it, I am here for it. And
Unknown:then get into action, do the do. Okay, do the do to have it
Unknown:happen and play with this and see what changes for you
Unknown:utilizing intention and the three Ds. All right, remember,
Unknown:you have a choice to lead your life or follow your
Unknown:circumstances, and intention, live intentionally because you
Unknown:will lead that way versus allowing circumstances to take
Unknown:over. Life is about knowing your passions, your purpose, your
Unknown:values, and creating that impact in your life and
Unknown:the life of others. And who emerges from that they're
Unknown:authentic, they're vulnerable, they're courageous, and they are
Unknown:intentionally creating their outcomes and goals. It does not
Unknown:always look the way we think it's supposed to when we get to
Unknown:trust that more always gets revealed as we move forward. So
Unknown:remember, take that pause, let go of worry, and live fully the
Unknown:best version of yourself. Thank you guys so much for listening
