5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
James. James 1:5, 6. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 20 of 30 Days of Growing. When facing life’s troubled waters, we’re promised a coveted gift: wisdom. This is the promise of guidance and insight from the Divine Sage—One whose heart is the overflowing source of all wisdom. Now, this wisdom may—or may not—explode into our circumstances, quickly untangling the frustrating mess, but if we’re willing to throw our case fully into God’s care, it will come just as we need it most. My favorite part of this passage is the beautiful picture of the Divine Sage as giving ‘liberally’ to all. He is no hoarder of wisdom, no poker-faced recluse who must be whittled down before begrudging the tiniest bit of his vast insight. No, he is eager to share all of his wisdom-wealth with any heart ready to receive it.
