Shownotes
The opposite of skepticism is dogmatism. Unquestioning belief. Blind Faith. And the people who are so deep in their programming that they would reject better information even if you put it right in front of them — those are the ones you leave alone. Paul tested astrology as a Christian skeptic. He heard the claims, went out and verified them, and eventually built a whole podcast around what he found. That's scientific skepticism in action. The people who won't even taste the food before telling everyone it's good — that's dogmatism. And it will get you and everyone around you hurt.
Takeaways:
- Dogmatism is unquestioning belief — the direct opposite of skepticism
- Blind Faith and programming feed each other — one installs the belief the other makes you defend it without evidence
- Scientific skepticism tests claims through experimentation — that's how Paul approached astrology
- If someone tells you they would reject better information before even hearing it you are dealing with radical dogmatism
- Skepticism serves society by finding the gaps in theories and forcing people to fill them or abandon them
