  Today in Health it HIMS:

CliffNotes is a service we offer at this week in Health it to keep you and your staff current. We know you don't have time to listen to every episode. We, in fact, have done longer episodes. Because people have told us, Hey, I don't listen to every episode, but the ones I do listen to, I want them to be as long as possible because you have somebody great on the show or you're covering a topic that we really like and we really want to dive deep into that topic.

So that's why we do 40 to 50 minute shows because when we get those professionals that are really busy, we want to get as much out of them as we possibly can and give it to you. But you may not have time to listen to all of 'em, and you want to just preview it. Well, clip notes is what you need. It's an email that goes out 24 hours after the show airs on the channel with a summary bullet points and two to four short video clips.

So you can look at that stuff and decide, is this an episode I want to watch in its entirety, or just little bits and pieces that you can get from the clip notes. Alright, here's today's story. . And this comes from Healthcare IT News, HIMSS 21 to require masks for all attendees. And I'm gonna give you some excerpts from this, then I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna be doing. So, proof of vaccination was already required for the event on Tuesday. The US CDC issued updated guidance recommending that vaccinated and unvaccinated people wear masks in public indoor settings in counties with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission rates.

The governor of Nevada has also issued an emergency directive requiring face coverings indoors. Consistent with that guidance. As of July 30th, Clark County, where Las Vegas is located, is specifically identified as an area with substantial or high transmission. Alright, so you're gonna be wearing masks indoors, you have to be vaccinated.

To go to the event that was previously announced and I talked about the process. The process is actually pretty slick and it's pretty easy to do your proof of vaccination. Now you're gonna be wearing a mask indoors. According to himss, more than 18,000 people have registered for the digital and in-person experience with new registrations continuing to roll in.

Alright, A couple other things. HIMSS 21 will also include the following safety protocols. According to the organization, all primary venues within the HIMSS 21 campus use hospital grade or better air ventilation systems, as well as GSS neutral disinfectant cleaners on all high touch areas. Second thing, socially distance seating options will be provided in all venues.

Exhibit halls will include wider aisles on the floors. With booths space to part attendees, exhibitors and staff must complete an onsite attestation confirming compliance with all health and safety protocols. Onsite COVID-19 testing will be available. I. All right, and they close with this. HIMSS is monitoring the evolving public health guidance regarding large gathering settings and will continue to provide updates and additional guidance.

Wrote representatives on the Safety Hub HIMS will continue to ask all attendees, exhibitors, and HIMSS staff to follow all applicable regulations and make informed choices about travel onsite and external. Engagement. All right, so that's what's going on. That's what you can expect at himss. What's my so one on this?

You have to do what is right for you with regard to these events. After a long conversation with my wife and taking health, family, and professional considerations into account, I've decided not to go to HIMSS in person, but that is my personal risk profile. You have to make that decision based on your factors with regard to what I am doing, since I cannot be there on site.

I'm planning to attend anything I can digitally. I've selected several presentations already that I've looked at and have asked presenters to come on the show, and I'm going to do an interview session with them to squeeze the value out of that presentation and provide it to our, this week in health IT community.

I plan to take some time and dedicate it next week to, to outreach to some people that I, I would . Potentially normally run into at a conference like himss, but that I don't run into in my normal day-to-Day operations. I, I started today with a call to a friend that I usually only see at conferences and we had a great discussion about the industry and our collective approach to the post covid world that we hope is approaching soon.

r. In fact, we are working on:
