If that sounds familiar, I would bet you any amount of money that one of the key problems that you're dealing with, that's causing these constant fires is a lack of clarity in terms of how goals are defined, a lack of clarity in general.

So let's talk about how you can actually fix that so that you can get out of that constant pattern of operational fire drills and actually get to the important things and high value items so that you're actually moving those initiatives forward.

And when that's done effectively, you have. a situation where employees aren't guessing at what good looks like or guessing at what the defined objectives are. They're working in a unified way to get that done. They understand the why behind the work. And this is one of the things that is often missed when you're talking about a lack of clear expectations within organizations.

You need to show them how to succeed, what's going to be measured and how that's going to be measured. If all of the feedback and communication is top down. You're never going to move as fast or as far as you need to. So if you're not creating a two way communication, you're missing out on all of the Intel that your frontline employees are gathering while doing the work. And if that isn't being fed back up to you, you can't course correct based on new information from those who are closest to the work.
