Genesis Ch 9 vs 7 to vs 29

Pastor Bob Thibodeau emphasizes the importance of giving love offerings to God from a place of gratitude, as seen through the example of Noah's sacrifices. This act of generosity is not mandated but comes from the heart, leading to blessings that allow individuals to be fruitful and multiply in all areas of life.

The discussion transitions into a reading of Genesis chapter nine, focusing on God's covenant with Noah and the significance of the rainbow as a sign of this everlasting promise. The episode also delves into the aftermath of Noah’s actions following the flood, particularly the consequences faced by his sons, especially Ham and his lineage.

Pastor Bob encourages listeners to reflect on the deeper meanings behind these biblical narratives and their relevance in today's context.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Hello, everyone, everywhere.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Welcome to the 15 Minute Bible Walk for today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We're so blessed you're joining us.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Last time we left off talking about Noah being blessed by God for the love offering he gave of sacrifice from the clean animals.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

No, it's not the unclean, just the clean.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And how he gave that love offering out of his heart.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He was not commanded to do it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He did it out of his heart.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And I talked last time about when you give a love offering and you give it to God when it's not even required, you just want to be a blessing.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

God blesses you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And we talked about that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And then the blessing came down and we started reading about that in verse chapter nine and we got all the way down to verse six.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We talked about capital punishment.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So you missed all that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Go back to the prior episode and catch up.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Today we're going to start in Genesis, chapter nine, verse seven.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And you, who's he talking about here?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

This is talking about you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He's talking to Noah.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But through Noah, he's talking to you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You be fruitful and multiply.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Bring forth abundantly in the earth and multiply therein.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Folks, we just got done talking about the love offering.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

When you give God a love offering out of the goodness of your heart because you want to show God how much you appreciate him, God blesses you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And part of that blessing is for you to be fruitful, to multiply, to bring forth abundantly.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

What's your business doing this year?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

How is, you know, here we are kicking off the new year right now.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

,:

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That's why I'm saying the new year is here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And do you want to multiply?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Do you want to be blessed abundantly?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Think about giving an offering to start the year with, folks.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Start this off right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know, our ministry, we need finances to do what we do.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We were, we are on counting this podcast.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We got this podcast.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We got four podcasts running.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We're on a radio, we are doing speaking.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know, we're publishing materials.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Folks, we appreciate your love offerings.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We really do.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And none of it goes to salaries.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We do not pay salaries out of our offerings that we receive.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It goes strictly to operations.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So drop down the show notes, send us a love arm and go to, you know, you can go to any one of our websites, Freedom Through Faith Ministries, FTFM.org KCR podcast.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know, just go, I Guess the best one to be.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

FTFM.org that's our main website, FTFM.org freedom through faith ministries.org send us a love offering.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We pray over it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We send you your receipts at the end of the year.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We are a tax deductible, you know, IRS 501C3 approved organization.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, let me just leave it there.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The point I'm trying me, that just came out of me.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But the point I'm trying to be is the blessing is upon you when you give a love offering that God did not tell you to give.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, you're giving it out of the love of your heart for what he's already done for you.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He said, be fruitful.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Multiply.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Bring forth abundantly.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You need a blessing in your business.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Bring forth abundantly.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Multiply therein in your business.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, Moving on.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 8.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him saying, and I behold, I establish my covenant with you and with your seed, with your descendants after you and every living creature that is with you, the fowl, the cattle, every beast of the earth with you from all that go out of the ark to every beast of the earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I will establish my covenant with you out of all of this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'm making my deal with you, boy.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Neither shall all flesh be cut off anymore by the waters of a flood.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Neither shall there be any more be a flood to destroy the whole earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now, that doesn't say there's never going to be a flood.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We know that's not right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It does not say he's not going to destroy, you know, cities and towns and villages.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You know that's not right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It says all of it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He's not going to wipe everybody out anymore.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

God said in verse 12, this is the token of the covenant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

This is the sign of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you for perpetual generations.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Not many generations.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Perpetual generation means it never stops.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I set my bow in the cloud.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It should be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Me, God and the earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

What did we just read over here in chapter 8, verse 20?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

While the earth remains.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Shout Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Somebody somewhere, because that's us.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We're here right now.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So we're still under this covenant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It should come to pass when I bring a cloud over the earth that the bow shall be seen in the cloud.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And I will remember my covenant which is between me and you and Every living creature of all flesh.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The waters shall no more become a flood that destroy all flesh.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The bow shall be in the cloud.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And I will look upon it that I remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that's upon the earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And God said to Noah, this is the token of the covenant which I've established between me and all flesh upon the earth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now let me, other than the animals, who's all the flesh?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Noah and his family at this point in time.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Okay, just saying.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 18.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And the sons of Noah that went forth from the ark were Shem and Ham and Japheth and Ham as the father of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

These are the three sons of Noah.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And of them was the whole earth overspread.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Noah began to be a husbandman and he planted a vineyard and he drank of the wine and was drunk and he was uncovered within his tent.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now does that mean Noah was an alcoholic?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

No, it means he was planting vineyards.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He, you know, not just vineyards, he was planting crops too.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But the vineyards gave them the grape juice.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We'll just call it grape juice.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It could be.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We don't know what it is, but we, we, we'll just say that's what it.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

If you're waiting for the next harvest to come in, if you're preparing for the next year, right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You keep it in store.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You're saving up, you're not going to, you know, drink it all.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And then in three months time, and then you got to wait a whole year for the next, you're going to keep it in store.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And in the process of doing that, it was becoming fermented.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And obviously Noah developed a taste for the fermented wine.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, that's sort of laugh, but that's, you know, I'm just trying to be straight up front with you here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And in doing that, he became drunk.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And one day when he was drunk, he was uncovered within his tent.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He was naked and in his tent.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the naked of his father and went out and bragged about it and told his two brothers.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He was mocking him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I've got a study that goes into a little bit more detail than we have time for here because it's like a three part series on a Sunday morning.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So it's like three hours long.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And there are, there's a couple of different theories on what this meant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He either saw him naked and was making fun of him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Number two, he went in and had a relationship with his father.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We'll just leave it at that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Number three, the one I kind of tend towards is he must have had an incestuous relationship with his mother.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And you'll see why as we get down into this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But I'm not going to go any more detail in that than that because the Bible's not clear.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It just says that he went out and bragged about it to his brothers.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And verse 23.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon their shoulders, walked backwards and covered the nakedness of their father.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And their faces were backwards, so they did not look upon their father's nakedness.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 24.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Noah woke from his wine, knew what his younger son had done to him.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now there's a big gap between all this that I don't have time to go into.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So we're just going to keep reading what the scripture says.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Verse 25.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And he said, cursed be Canaan, A servant of servants he shall be to his brethren.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And he said, blessed be the Lord God, Yahweh, Elohim of Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Canaan shall be his Shem's servant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Canaan shall be Shem's servant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

God shall enlarge Japheth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He shall dwell in the tents of Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

In other words, he'll be Shem's in charge.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But Japheth is part of the blessing here as well.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Canaan shall be his servant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Noah lived after the flood 350 years.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And all the days of Noah were 950 years.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So who is the one who's blessed?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Who were the sons?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Jpeth is going to dwell with with Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Canaan is the one who's cursed.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now think about this.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Here we read Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Cursed is Canaan a servant of servants.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

He'll be to his brother in verse 26.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Bless is the Lord God of Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Canaan shall be his servant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Servant to them, to Shem, to Japheth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

God shall enlarge Japheth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And he'll dwell in the tents of Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Canaan shall be his servant.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And Noah lived after the flood 350 years.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All the days of Noah were 950 years.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, we're going to stop there for today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So we'll pick it up next time in chapter 10, verse one.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But I just want you to pray about what it was that Canaan had done.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I should say Ham.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Ham.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Japheth.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Ham's the father of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So you got Shem.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Japheth and Ham is the father of Canaan.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

What would cause Noah to curse his grandson?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I want you to think about that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Why would I know my grandbabies?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They are precious in my eyes.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They can do no wrong in Papa's eyes.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'll put it like that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I don't care what they do.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They have papa's babies at 27 years old now.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They're still my babies at the time of this recording.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

They're 27 years old.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

27.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

25.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

19.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Multiple of them.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We got seven of them.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Put it like that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But the point I want to make is why would.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

What would happen to cause Noah to curse his grandson who wasn't even born at the time?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Right.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Why?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And that's where I go off on some of the trainings that sermons and teachings that I've talked about on this subject.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

I'm not going to do it here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Got to go over to Freedom Through Faith Ministries and catch that broadcast and see all the videos and all that stuff over there on that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

That's all we're going to do for today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Till next time as Pastor Bob, reminding you that you need to be blessed in all that you do.
