I grew up on my grandfather's farm and ranch in South Carolina, hunting quail, rabbits, and squirrels.  I was fascinated with hunting and devoured Field and Stream magazine as a kid.

For the next twenty years athletics in high school and college and traveling the world filled all my time.  Then, in 1998, a guy in my church that I pastored told me about elk hunting.  Something lit up inside!  All kinds of distant memories of being a kid again flooded my heart.  That year I went on my first elk hunt.

 Since that time, I’ve enjoyed mentoring my four sons in

big game and upland game hunting, trained three bird dogs, and mentored dozens

of men in how to shoot, track, and quarter an animal. It’s all been a great joy.
