Transcript:

It’s graduation season. The refrigerator’s covered with invites to open houses. I’m Dan Hansen and this is a minute at RepcoLite.

Everytime we open the fridge door, there’s a flutter of chaos as the invites slide all over the place and drop to the ground. Then we have to pick them all up and, using our woefully inadequate magnets, try to get them all put back in place until the next time someone needs a snack.

Everytime I’m hunched over in the kitchen, picking up the invites, I’m struck by the faces–kids I’ve known for years, but haven’t seen in a while–kids who, in my memory are still 8 or 10, but who are, in fact, leaving high school. Or even college.

And this year, more of my kids are doing the same–my oldest daughter is graduating from Grand Valley and my middle daughter is graduating from High School. It’s so cliched, but where in the world did the time go? How did all those years turn into memories?

And while I’m excited for them I’m also sad. Yes, it’s selfish . . . but man . . . I loved those days we can’t get back. So it’s a little bittersweet. Maybe some of you feel the same. I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a minute at RepcoLite.
