I'm here to tell you that you can relax, connect, and have fun without alcohol in your life.

-:

Join me here each week to find out how. Today, we're talking about amazing adventures.

-:

The other night, I was tucking my son into bed.

-:

I said to him, I'll be here when you get up in the morning, but I'm leaving at 8 AM tomorrow to drive to Wales and climb Mount Snowdon. I'll be back on Sunday.

-:

He paused for a moment and then said, you're not long back from Ibiza. I know, I said. Aren't I lucky? Yes, mum. You are.

-:

Having lots of amazing adventures at the moment, and until he pointed it out, I hadn't really noticed.

-:

If you'd have looked at my annual list of adventures a few years ago, there would have been my annual fixture, which has happened

-:

for over 20 years and will continue for at least another 30, a weekend away with my oldest friends.

-:

A half marathon, there'd be a family holiday, and maybe a few big planned days out.

-:

This year has been a whole other level.

-:

In January, I went away on a women's Buddhist meditation retreat.

-:

At the time, I told my friends and family I was going on a yoga retreat because I was afraid of what they'd think. I have no idea why.

-:

I guess because this wouldn't have been my normal choice of activity for so many years, and I didn't want to have to justify or explain my choice.

-:

I've driven to Bournemouth for a sober community event.

-:

I've sober brunches and walks each month of this year. I've run a half marathon.

-:

I'd say run, that sounds heroic, and I'm not that. I'll try this again. I've jogged a half marathon.

-:

I've hosted a talk at a festival.

-:

I've met in the middle of the country with my business besties to walk on what to work on our challenges and dreams.

-:

I've been to a sober comedy club with a beautiful group of people I've never met before.

-:

I've been to a business event for a weekend in Manchester and stayed with and had a brilliant time with another beautiful

-:

group of people I've never met before.

-:

And most recently, there's been a trip to Ibiza and a walk up up Mount Snowdon, again, with people I didn't know before in real life.

-:

Listing it all sounds like a lot.

-:

And still to come in 2022 is the usual weekend with my oldest friends, a 50 kilometre sponsored walk, which is taking a lot

-:

of training time over the summer, and there'll probably be another big walking challenge in the autumn.

-:

Next year, my first big adventure will be the retreat that I'm hosting in February.

-:

If you're interested in that, drop me a DM.

-:

I only have 8 places available, and I expect it to sell out pretty quickly once it's on sale.

-:

When my son said to me, you are having lots of amazing adventures at the moment, I gave him a big hug and smiled.

-:

I know, I said, I really am the luckiest.

-:

Adventures, loving family, cozy home, fabulous friends, this is the dream.

-:

We had a snuggle, and then as I left the room, I thought how glad I was that I had caught and redirected a thought 30 seconds earlier.

-:

When he observed that I'm having lots of amazing adventures, my ego rose up.

-:

The thought that sprang to mind was super defensive.

-:

I know I'm just back from Ibiza, and now I'm off to Wales, but I'm allowed to do this.

-:

I want to meet more people, move my body, use my mind, feel my spirituality, and live more of my life outside the ordinary and comfortable. But here's the thing.

-:

My son wasn't making a judgment about me or my travels.

-:

He was making an observation, and he was spot on with it too.

-:

I want him to know that adventures are a normal and exciting way of life, and they are available to anyone who wants them.

-:

My husband loves to go away by himself to run a marathon.

-:

Oh, and he really actually does run a marathon. There's no jogging for him.

-:

And he loves to book a ticket and go off and see the most god awful bands sorry, did I say that out loud?

-:

I mean, he goes to fabulous cultural events that really float his boat with people who share the same loves and interests as he does. We have family adventures.

-:

Some of them are an hour long, some of them are holidays, some planned, and some totally casual and surprising.

-:

My husband and I also have a weekend away once in a while without the kids, and they love their school residentials or trips

-:

by themselves with grandparents or friends, and indeed they are just beginning to stretch their wings with their independent

-:

days out having mini friend led adventures.

-:

I'm glad I'm modelling a way of life for my children that involves meeting new people, seeing new places, being reliant on

-:

myself for finding and pursuing the fun.

-:

I want this for them one day too, and showing them how instead of telling them how from the sofa with a glass of wine in hand,

-:

feels like a much more aligned way of parenting.

-:

Over the last few years, my comfort zone has expanded.

-:

I'm happier and happier pursuing what feels good and thinking less and less about who is judging. Yes.

-:

People might be having opinions, and, of course, none of that is my business as we well know.

-:

What adventures are you planning in 2022?

-:

Have you got your eyes on something exciting and fun or something scary and exhilarating? What about 2023?

-:

Are you considering planning and saving for something then?

-:

As always, I love getting your DMs, emails, and voice notes. Keep them coming.

-:

If you want to tell me your adventure plans, I'm all ears. Thank you for listening today.

-:

Do join me again next week, and PS, I believe in

-:

you.
