Shownotes

According to Google: self-care is done with the intention of caring for yourself, not with the intention to harm or take from others. Being selfish means there's a desire to take from others, often to their detriment. However, self-care is about replenishing your resources without depleting someone else's. Do you agree? Jill and Linda are discussing this definition and more popular cultural ideas in today’s episode as we discover:

  • How we’ve adapted to incorporating others into our self-care (particularly with children and work commitments)
  • What self-care means to us individually and how our deeper understanding has helped our energy levels for us and those surrounding us.
  • When our needs for self-care can become unhealthy. Balancing it with life and appreciating the small moments of joy in our days.
  • Learning to say no (and still learning!)
  • Ways we have changed our thoughts about self-care and found ways to do it alongside our kids as well. Examples of self-care with kiddos, friends, our significant other and ourselves.
  • Being kind to others, even anonymously, can give you a burst of dopamine that warms your heart.

We have been sharing self-care ideas throughout our episodes just like in this one and if you would like to find out more, we would love you to reach out to us at muckedupmyselfcarepodcast@gmail.com.
