On this week's episode of GGP, Brit and Katie discuss the accidental reboot of the Universal Monster Movie-verse: THE INVISIBLE MAN (2020).
Loosely based on the novel by H. G. Wells and the 1933 classic film, director Lee Whannel turns the story inside out and focuses on not the invisible man (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), but rather his victim:the long-suffering girlfriend Cecilia played by the incredible Elisabeth Moss.
Supported by her sister Emily (Harriet Dyer), detective and friend James (Aldis Hodge) and his daughter Sydney (Storm Reid), Cecilia tries to escape the physical and mental torture of her ex, Adrian, who just happens to be a leading inventor in the field of optics. But when objects move and she feels a presence watching her, she begins to suspect that maybe she will never be able to truly escape. Will she remain a victim, or stand up and become a survivor?
Not only has the horror of an invisible stalker never been so realistic until this film, but this take on a classic movie monster has never before been so aptly named. He is truly a monster.
Brit's pick for next week: THE GUEST (2014)
